The garlic patch planted late in the yard was ready for harvest. Liu Gang and Du Yuhan picked up the garlic scapes that had grown on the garlic sprouts to eat as vegetables, and then used pitchforks to dig the garlic cloves out of the ground.
The garlic in this patch is growing exceptionally well; the bulbs are larger than those of ordinary garlic, making it a very pleasing sight.
The two people removed the dirt from the garlic and started braiding it. After braiding each garlic, they hung it under the eaves of the kitchen to dry and prevent it from getting moldy.
Du Yuhan also pickled some of the harvested green garlic, making both salted and sweet garlic. She knew that Han Yixian liked sweet garlic, so she pickled more of it.
Her skill in pickling garlic is unique; she figured it out herself in her past life, and the flavor is quite distinctive.
After processing the garlic, Liu Gang turned the soil over, and Du Yuhan didn't waste any time, immediately planting a row of cucumbers. Once the earlier cucumbers were harvested, this row of cucumbers would be ready to eat.
With the well water in the space as a backup, Du Yuhan doesn't have to worry about what she plants not growing well. As long as it's not too extraordinary, anything slightly different is fine.
As the weather gets hotter, Du Yuhan often brews herbal tea or mung bean soup to help people cool off.
Han Yixian no longer needs to take medicine, so drinking mung bean soup is fine for him.
Because of the newly built bathroom, it's very convenient for everyone to take a shower, and it's quite comfortable to take a shower before going to bed at night.
Because of the hot weather, Han Yixian asked Liu Gang and the others to clean out one of the side rooms, put a single bed, wardrobe, desk and some daily necessities in it and use it as Yuan Qiwen's room, which would also make it convenient for him to study.
Yuan Qiwen was even happier to have his own room in the courtyard. There was good food, fun things to do, and someone to tutor him. He practically stayed in the courtyard all the time.
When summer vacation arrived, Yuan Qiwen didn't go home to live; he stayed in the small courtyard. Besides studying, he often went into the mountains with Du Yuhan and Liu Gang to dig for wild vegetables, pick mushrooms and fungus, and hunt.
Time is like water in a sponge; you can always squeeze some out if you try.
Du Yuhan and Liu Gang both cherish this learning opportunity and will try their best to make time to study.
Knowing that Du Yuhan was interested in studying medicine, Han Yixian asked someone to get her many medical books, some of which were very precious. Du Yuhan was overjoyed, as this would allow her to study medicine openly and legitimately.
Besides studying middle school subjects with Liu Gang, she also studied medicine, which she learned on her own. This was to lay the foundation for her to demonstrate her medical skills in the future.
Han Xiuqin was delighted to learn that Du Yuhan was studying medicine on her own. This would be a great benefit for her nephew in the future; having someone knowledgeable in medicine to take care of her would put her at ease.
Han Xiuqin also found some medical books for Du Yuhan. She sent Du Yuhan any books she could get her hands on, whether they were traditional Chinese medicine or Western medicine. Everyone was unanimously supportive of Du Yuhan's study of medicine.
Han Xiuqin also introduced Du Yuhan to an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Although Du Yuhan did not become his apprentice, she could ask the doctor questions if she had any doubts.
The old Chinese medicine doctor was quite surprised by Du Yuhan's talent for medicine. If he hadn't already taken on a last disciple, he would definitely have accepted Du Yuhan as his student. Even so, the old doctor taught Du Yuhan with great care.
Du Yuhan also took this opportunity to absorb knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine with great eagerness, and her medical skills became more and more exquisite.
Zhou Zhengye was very busy at first because he had just arrived at the military base. After he sorted out his work, he started running to Han Yixian's courtyard again.
He appears at least once a week, and he always eats in the courtyard.
Eating in the courtyard was what he looked forward to most; he would automatically stay for a meal without Han Yi even having to ask him to. But he didn't eat for free; he would always bring something with him whenever he came to the courtyard.
After figuring out Zhou Zhengye's routine for visiting the courtyard, Du Yuhan would always find an excuse to go into the mountains to dig for wild vegetables or go hunting on the days he was scheduled to come. She would usually only meet Zhou Zhengye during lunch or dinner.
After observing for a period of time, Han Yixian determined that Du Yuhan was intentionally avoiding Zhou Zhengye, which made Han Yixian very curious. He wondered what grudge Du Yuhan had against his good brother.
The reason for this belief is that Han Yi first discovered that Du Yuhan disliked Zhou Zhengye's presence, so she would make an excuse to leave every time Zhou Zhengye came.
Han Yixian didn't want to pry into Du Yuhan's secrets. He respected Du Yuhan, so he didn't say anything or stop her behavior.
For some reason, Han Yixian was secretly pleased with Du Yuhan's behavior.
Han Yixian himself did not realize that his gaze was increasingly drawn to Du Yuhan, and he had grown accustomed to having Du Yuhan by his side.
Half a month after Zhou Zhengye arrived in Luancheng, a strange thing happened to him.
Zhou Zhengye was very busy with work every day, and sometimes he also had to participate in training, so he was always very tired and usually slept well at night. However, after arriving in Luancheng for half a month, he started having frequent dreams at night.
The dreams started out short, but then grew longer and longer. The scenes in the dreams were sometimes clear and sometimes blurry.
Sometimes the scenes in my dreams are the same several times, and sometimes they are different several times in a row.
This dream is like a story, continuous and evolving little by little over time.
All the dreams had one thing in common: they were all related to Du Yuhan.
When Zhou Zhengye first started having dreams, he had only seen Du Yuhan twice. He thought it was just a coincidence, that he was just curious about Du Yuhan and that his dreams about her were just a result of his daytime thoughts, and that it didn't have any special meaning.
But as time went on, he started dreaming about Du Yuhan every few days, which made Zhou Zhengye uneasy.
