Chapter 611 Exploring the Path to Wealth

When Gao Shuwen heard that people had come to the Han family's new house, he thought it must be the old director's family, and excitedly ran to the Han family's house.

When he ran to the gate of the Han family's house and saw a truck, he became even more certain and immediately went into the Han family's yard.

In the courtyard, Han Yi first saw Uncle Gao and greeted him, "Uncle Gao, you've arrived."

As soon as Gao Shuwen saw Han Yixian, he asked, "Yixian, have your father and the others arrived?"

Han Yixian replied, "My dad and the others are all here, inside. We're having stewed meat at home today, and I was just about to invite you over for dinner."

Han Xiao had already heard the voices in the courtyard and came out to greet them, calling out, "Shuwen."

Upon hearing the shouts, Gao Shuwen excitedly turned around and saw Han Xiao. He quickly stepped forward, grasped Han Xiao's hand, and said with tears in his eyes, "Director Han, I've finally met you."

The two hadn't seen each other for many years, and were both very excited to finally meet again.

Han Xiao looked at Gao Shuwen and said, "You've aged quite a bit. You were so young when you came back. We've all gotten old."

Looking at the old director he hadn't seen for many years, Gao Shuwen said, "You've changed quite a bit too. How are you feeling?"

Han Xiao said, "I'm free of worries now. My children are all around me and taking good care of us. I'm in better health than before, and I'm quite robust."

Gao Shuwen nodded and said, "That's good. I was so excited when you contacted me. I never thought I would see you again in this lifetime."

Han Xiao said, "From now on, don't call me 'Old Director' anymore, just call me Brother Han. Let's address each other as brothers. We'll be spending a lot of time together in the future."

Han Xiao then introduced He Chenglin and his wife, as well as Wen Jinyu, to Gao Shuwen. Everyone went into the living room to sit, drink tea, and chat.

With Gao Shuwen's discerning eye, he could tell at a glance that the He family was no ordinary family; one could tell just by looking at their demeanor. Now that so many important figures had arrived in Beili Village, Gao Shuwen wanted to instruct the villagers not to offend their distinguished guests.

At noon, He Yuhan prepared to show off her culinary skills. She soaked some wood ear mushrooms and other mushrooms, and planned to make a braised rabbit, a pheasant stew with mushrooms, and a stir-fried cured pork with wood ear mushrooms, along with a few vegetable dishes. She stewed two large pots of rabbit and pheasant meat, enough for everyone to enjoy.

At noon, He Yuhan brought out the liquor she had brought, which delighted the men. The men sat at one table to drink, while the women and children sat at another.

Gu Huayang and He Haobo finally got to eat their aunt's delicious food again, and the two little guys ate with their mouths full of oil. He Yuhan would occasionally put a piece of boneless, tender meat on her two nephews sitting next to her.

Yu Huiru watched the two children eating happily and said, "These two children have had a tough journey and have lost some weight. Now they can finally eat properly."

Wen Jinyu said, "We adults are exhausted, let alone the children. Now we can finally settle down. We need to make sure the children get some nourishment these next few days."

He Yuhan said, "They don't eat or rest well on the train, so it's normal for them to lose weight. As long as they don't get sick, they'll be fine after a few days."

Sitting in He Yuhan's arms, Xiao Xurui ate the steamed egg custard his mother fed him, and he ate it with great relish.

There was plenty of meat, and everyone, adults and children alike, ate their fill. The men wanted to drink, so the meal took a little longer. The women didn't mind and went to rest after finishing their meal.

Not long after lunch, the children got sleepy, so He Yuhan took her son and two nephews to the He family's house for a nap.

The men drank and chatted until after 2 a.m. before finishing their meal. After Han Yixian and the others cleaned up the dishes, they sat down in the living room to chat again.

Gao Shuwen knew the Han family had just arrived and, not wanting to disturb their rest, left after lunch after only sitting for a short while. They would have many more days to spend together in the future, so one day didn't matter.

When He Yuhan and the children woke up from their afternoon nap, it was already past four o'clock. They had slept very well and the children were well-rested, so they became lively and active again.

After waking up, Gu Huayang clung to his father, as did He Haobo. Gu Qishen and He Zhenhua, who had originally planned to return to the county town that day, decided to stay the night and spend time with their son.

Seeing that He Yuhan and the children were awake, Han Yixian suggested going for a walk outside. Gu Qishen and He Zhenhua readily agreed, and so the young people took the children out of the house and headed towards the river to explore the surroundings and get familiar with the environment.

Gu Qishen also wanted to learn more about the topography of Beili Village and hear He Yuhan's story of getting rich.

Not far from the village is a wide river flowing into the distance, and the water looks quite deep. Tall reeds grow along the riverbank, and wild ducks and other wild water birds often take flight from among them.

Flocks of waterbirds can be seen flying over the river, and every now and then a waterbird will dive into the river to catch fish. Occasionally, fish will also leap out of the water.

Behind the village rise several interconnected mountains, lush and verdant with ancient trees reaching for the sky. At the foot of the mountains lies a vast expanse of fields, where people are already working. The industrious farmers have begun their year's labor.

Looking at the picturesque rural scenery before her, He Yuhan felt very happy, and her mood became much calmer and more peaceful. This was truly a wonderful place to live in seclusion.

Looking at the surrounding scenery, Gu Qishen said, "This place is truly beautiful. It would be even better if the people were more prosperous. He Yuhan, tell me again about the idea you mentioned last time. Take Beili Village as an example."

He Yuhan said, "Then let me explain. If you want to get rich, build roads first. But Beili Village is located in a remote area with inconvenient transportation. If we build roads, we will have to increase investment, which I estimate will be very difficult."
