In the evening, Yan Qingya rode her bicycle home after work. She had been quite busy today and was a little tired, wanting to get home and rest as soon as possible. As she entered the alley and was almost home, a child suddenly ran out of a resident's yard, catching her off guard.
Just as she was about to hit the child, Yan Qingya quickly dodged, and the child also dodged when he saw the bicycle. To avoid hitting the child, Yan Qingya hurriedly turned around, but accidentally fell to the ground, and the bicycle landed on top of her. Realizing the trouble she had caused, the child quickly ran home.
Yan Qingya fell to the ground, feeling a piercing pain in her ankle and elbow. Because she was wearing thin clothes, she guessed that her elbow was probably broken.
She fell quite hard, and her whole body ached, but she still struggled to get up.
Gu Qishen and He Zhenhua were walking home together after get off work. When they entered the alley where their house was located, they saw a woman riding a bicycle ahead of them. The two of them slowed down, and then they saw a child suddenly run out. The woman fell to the ground while trying to avoid the child.
The two of them quickly got off their bicycles upon seeing this.
He Zhenhua propped up his bicycle and saw the woman struggling to get up but failing. He quickly stepped forward and asked, "Comrade, are you alright? Do you need any help?"
Upon hearing the question, Yan Qingya looked up with tears in her eyes and, enduring the pain, said, "Could you please help me lift my bicycle? My ankle is injured, and I can't put any weight on it. Thank you."
Upon hearing this, He Zhenhua quickly and carefully lifted Yan Qingya's bicycle and pushed it aside to prop it up.
When Yan Qingya saw that the bicycle had been moved to the side, she tried to get up by herself, but she underestimated the extent of her injury. She struggled for a long time but could not get up. Her ankle was in excruciating pain, and her elbow was also in great pain. She was sweating from the pain.
She touched her ankle, feeling that the bones should be fine; it was just a sprain and a minor injury that should be treated and resolved. However, it would take a few days to heal.
Because she was a woman, Gu Qishen and He Zhenhua were both careful and did not dare to rush forward to help Yan Qingya.
He Zhenhua asked, "Comrade, do you live in this alley? Should I notify your family?"
Despite the pain, Yan Qingya said with trembling lips, "I rent a place here by myself, and I don't have any other family. It's alright, I can just sit here and rest for a bit. I won't keep you any longer, thank you."
Gu Qishen frowned upon hearing this and said, "Do you want to go to the hospital?"
Yan Qingya shook her head and said, "It's okay, no need to go to the hospital. I can take care of it myself at home."
He Zhenhua said, "Qi Shen, you stay here and keep an eye on things. I'll go get Yu Han to come and check."
Gu Qishen nodded and said, "Okay, call Yuhan to come and take a look."
He was already very close to home, so He Zhenhua rode his bicycle home.
Once inside the house, He Zhenhua explained the situation, and He Yuhan grabbed the family's first-aid kit and ran out with her older brother.
Before long, Yan Qingya saw the man who had been helping her with her bicycle arrive with a young woman. The woman was incredibly beautiful; it was the first time Yan Qingya had ever seen such a pretty girl.
She considered herself to be quite good-looking, but compared to this girl, she was far inferior. Moreover, this girl had a friendly and approachable demeanor that made people feel good about her.
He Yuhan walked up to the girl lying on the ground and asked, "Comrade, how are you feeling? Where does it hurt?"
Yan Qingya said, "My ankle is injured. I just touched it, and the bone should be fine. It's probably a soft tissue injury."
He Yuhan touched it and nodded, saying, "The bone is definitely fine, but judging from how swollen it is, this sprain is quite serious and needs to be treated. Can you get up?"
He Yuhan suddenly noticed that the woman's clothes were covered in blood at the elbow and exclaimed, "Oh dear, your arm is injured too, it's bleeding. Where do you live? We'll take you home first."
Seeing the girl so badly injured yet still trying to endure the pain, He Yuhan couldn't help but admire her.
Yan Qingya pointed to the courtyard she rented and said, "I live in that courtyard. I rent a place here by myself. But my uncle lives in the county committee's residential compound. Could you please help me inform my uncle? My name is Yan Qingya."
Upon hearing this, He Zhenhua asked, "What's your uncle's name?"
Yan Qingya said, "My uncle's name is Liu Yongnian."
Gu Qishen and He Zhenhua exchanged a glance, surprised that this was a relative of an acquaintance. Since she was Liu Yongnian's niece, they felt even more obligated to help.
He Yuhan, of course, knew who Liu Yongnian was. Upon hearing that he was Liu's niece, she was even more eager to help. She said, "Comrade Yan, let my older brother carry you home. It looks like you're badly injured. It would be better if you walked by yourself and caused further harm."
Yan Qingya knew this wasn't the time to be stubborn, so she said gratefully, "Thank you so much."
Upon hearing that his sister needed help, He Zhenhua carefully picked up Yan Qingya and carried her to the courtyard she had mentioned.
Gu Qishen returned his bicycle home and then returned Yan Qingya's bicycle to the courtyard where Yan Qingya lived.
When the elderly couple from the Wu family saw Yan Qingya being carried back, they quickly asked, "Qingya, what happened to you?"
Yan Qingya said, "I accidentally tripped and twisted my ankle."
He Yuhan helped open the door to Yan Qingya's room, and then He Zhenhua put Yan Qingya on the bed.
He Yuhan said, "Big brother, we don't need you here anymore, I can handle it. Go and deliver a message to Liu**."
He Zhenhua knew his sister needed to treat someone's wound, and it was indeed inconvenient for him, a man, to be there, so he said, "Alright, I'll go deliver the message to Liu**."
Yan Qingya said, "Thank you, comrades. I still don't know how to address you."
He Yuhan said, "My name is He Yuhan, and this is my older brother, He Zhenhua. We live at the very end of the alley. We're just a few houses apart. Brother, hurry back!"
He Zhenhua said, "Okay, I'll be going now."
Only He Yuhan and Yan Qingya remained in the room. He Yuhan said, "Take off your coat; your arm is bleeding."
Yan Qingya took off her coat, and her elbow was indeed scraped. Fortunately, it wasn't too serious, but it would still take some time to heal.
He Yuhan treated Yan Qingya's elbows and ankles.
Yan Qingya, observing He Yuhan's professional technique, asked, "Is Comrade He a doctor?"
He Yuhan said, "I used to study medicine and worked as a barefoot doctor for a period of time, but my medical skills were just average."
Yan Qingya said with some surprise, "I'm also a doctor, working at the county hospital. Your technique seems very professional."
He Yuhan asked with interest, "Oh, Comrade Yan is a doctor at the county hospital?"
Yan Qingya nodded and said, "Yes, I've only been in Qianyuan County for a short time. I'm so grateful to you all this time. If you need any help in the future, just let me know, and I'll definitely help if I can."
Yan Qingya really liked He Yuhan, whom she had only met once; this was probably what people call being attracted to each other at first sight. Not to mention, He Yuhan and her brother had also helped her.
