Chapter 72 The person who was bullied disappeared

As the Du family drove to the city, the people at the Du family's old house noticed that neither Du Lianqiao nor his wife had come to work.

The Du brothers were all wondering what had happened at the second wife's house, and why the most diligent Du Lianqiao and his wife hadn't come to work.

The people at the Du family's old house spent the whole morning wondering what had happened, and they also asked around if anyone knew anything. But they found out nothing.

The group decided to go to the second house together after work at noon. They couldn't miss out if there was anything good happening there.

When they went to the canteen for lunch after work, they still hadn't seen Du Lianqiao and his wife, making the people in the old house even more eager to see them.

Could it be that Du Yuhan is back? Otherwise, what could possibly make Du Lianqiao's family skip dinner? Du Yuhan must have brought back something good.

After quickly finishing their meal, the eldest son of the Du family, along with his brothers and sisters-in-law, headed towards the house where the second branch of the Du family was staying.

Upon arriving at the courtyard gate, I saw the village secretary tidying up the house. The secretary's son was moving a table out.

That table was newly made by Du Lianqiao; it hasn't been used for very long.

The eldest son of the Du family entered the courtyard and asked, "Secretary, what are you doing? Where are the second son's family?"

The village secretary knew that the people at the old Du family house would find out about Du Lianqiao's family leaving sooner or later. Anyway, now that Du Lianqiao's family had gone far away, it didn't matter if he told them.

“Lianqiao and his family said they went to stay with relatives and left last night. Lianqiao said he gave all the remaining things in the house to my family. I’m here to tidy up.”

Upon hearing this, the eldest son of the Du family asked in surprise, "Seek refuge with relatives? How come I don't know of any relatives he could seek refuge with?"

The fourth son of the Du family also said, "Yes, what relatives could he possibly have to rely on?"

Suddenly everyone remembered Du Yuhan. Could it be that they went to live with Du Yuhan? Du Yuhan married and moved to the city. Could it be that the second wife's family also moved to the city to settle down?

Du Laoda quickly asked, "Secretary, did Lao Er's family go to stay with Yu Han?"

The village secretary shook his head and said, "He only said he was going to stay with relatives, but he didn't say who. I don't know either."

When the villagers realized they couldn't get any information from the village secretary, they hurried home to discuss what to do with their parents.

The third daughter-in-law saw the village secretary's son carrying a new table and said, "Secretary, the second wife's things should be given to our Du family first. It's not appropriate for you to take them all away."

The village secretary's son said, "Brother Lianqiao said he gave it all to our family. Besides, there wasn't much of it, just a table, a few stools, a few baskets, and some pots and pans. Furthermore, your family and Brother Lianqiao's family have already separated, so what do their things have to do with you?"

The third son's wife didn't dare offend the Party Secretary's family, so she didn't dare argue anymore and quickly went home.

The eldest son of the Du family walked quickly home and went straight into the east room where his parents lived, saying anxiously, "Father, Mother, the second son's family is missing."

Liu Cuilian, who was taking a nap on the kang (a heated brick bed), immediately sat up upon hearing this and asked, "Where did it go? What do you mean?"

Du Dachuan also sat up and asked what happened.

Du Laoda said, "Today, Lao Er's family neither went to work nor ate at the canteen, so I went to their house to check on them. I saw the village secretary packing up his things there. He said that Lao Er's family had left Xikou Village to stay with relatives."

Upon hearing that the person she had been bullying had disappeared, Liu Cuilian quickly put on her shoes and ran towards where Du Lianqiao and the others lived.

The people from the old Du family residence rushed to the place where the Du family lived.

When Liu Cuilian saw the village secretary's family moving things out, she quickly shouted, "These are my things, you can't take them."

Liu Cuilian was a reckless person who was not afraid of anyone when it came to taking advantage of others, and most people didn't dare to mess with her.

However, she encountered the village party secretary and his family, who were not afraid of her at all.

Du Dachuan wasn't like Liu Cuilian, who didn't understand social etiquette; he didn't want to offend the village secretary.

He was the first to speak up, asking, "Secretary, has the second son's family really left Xikou Village?"

The village secretary saw that everything was almost packed up, so he told his two sons to move the things they needed into the house.

Du Lianqiao is a skilled carpenter, and a very good one at that. The tables and stools he makes are all quite nice and brand new. Since Du Lianqiao offered to give them to him, he certainly wouldn't let anyone else have them.

Knowing that these people would keep pestering the Du family if he didn't give them a definite answer, the village secretary said, "Lianqiao told me yesterday that he was going to stay with relatives and left last night. As for where he went, I don't know."

The village secretary didn't tell anyone about Du Yuhan, fearing it would cause her trouble.

Liu Cuilian said through gritted teeth, "He doesn't have any relatives. His second son's wife's family has all died long ago. They must have gone to live with that damned girl."

I found her such a good marriage, and now that she's successful, all she thinks about is her second son's family. She doesn't even consider who gave her such a great opportunity. What an ingrate!

Everyone immediately knew that the old lady was referring to Du Yuhan.

The old lady schemed against Du Yuhan and the second wife back then, but now look what's happened! Du Yuhan has taken the second son's family to the city to enjoy a life of luxury, while they still have to work in the fields every day.

It's like all that scheming turned out to be a favor done for someone else.

At this moment, the eldest son of the Du family deeply regretted not letting his daughter marry into the family. If he had, wouldn't his whole family have been able to move to the city with her?

The eldest son said, "Dad, Mom, has Yuhan sent any letters to the second son's family? If she did, there should be an address."
