Zhou Zhengye was overwhelmed by the people introducing him to potential partners and those who wanted to marry him. He knew he could no longer remain single, and marriage was something that had to be put on the agenda.
He called home to inquire about the girls his mother had selected. In the end, he chose a girl whose parents had both passed away and who was an only child.
This girl has no one to rely on now, so if she goes with him, she will definitely be devoted to him. Moreover, this girl has a gentle personality and is easy to get along with, so there will be fewer conflicts in the future.
He told his mother that he would be returning to Kyoto soon to meet his fiancée.
Although Zhou's mother didn't particularly like the girl her eldest son had chosen, she didn't want to find him another wife from a powerful family. She preferred someone from a family with little influence, so at least her son could have more control.
Zhou Zhengye first had someone investigate Wen Xiuyun, the girl he had chosen, and then took a month's leave to return to Kyoto. He was short on time and didn't want to waste any more time, so after meeting her in person, he quickly arranged the marriage.
Wen Xiuyun had no family left and wanted to get married as soon as possible to have someone to rely on. She didn't expect the Zhou family to choose her. Although Zhou Zhengye was divorced, his conditions were by no means bad, and for her to marry Zhou Zhengye was considered a step up.
She had no objection to Zhou Zhengye's arrangement for a quick marriage, which suited her perfectly.
After a simple wedding, Zhou Zhengye took Wen Xiuyun back to Qianyuan County.
When He Zhenhua learned that Zhou Zhengye had returned and went to his house, he was surprised to find that Zhou Zhengye had brought a wife back with him.
Zhou Zhengye had already married his wife in just one month, a feat that He Zhenhua greatly admired.
After hearing Zhou Zhengye's introduction, He Zhenhua quickly said, "Hello, sister-in-law. My name is He Zhenhua. I'm a colleague and good friend of Zhengye from the same factory. My home is just a few houses away. Please come visit me sometime."
Wen Xiuyun was quite generous, saying, "I'm new here and not familiar with the area yet, so please take care of me in the future."
He Zhenhua said, "That's easy. From now on, sister-in-law can spend more time with my wife Yan Qingya, and you can ask her for advice if you need anything. She's a doctor at the county hospital."
Zhou Zhengye had already told Wen Xiuyun about He Zhenhua's family situation and some information about the Han family. Although he didn't love Wen Xiuyun, she had already married him, so he had to take responsibility.
He Zhenhua stayed at Zhou Zhengye's house for a while before going home.
When Yan Qingya saw her husband return home alone so quickly, she asked, "Why did you come back alone? Why didn't you invite Brother Zhou over for dinner?"
He Zhenhua chuckled and said, "Guess what? Zheng Ye actually got married when he went back this time, and even brought his wife back with him."
Yan Qingya was also surprised when she heard this. "So fast? They didn't even know each other before, and they got married without getting to know each other. Isn't this too hasty?"
He Zhenhua said, "There's nothing strange about that. Nowadays, many people get married after meeting once through an introduction. How many people like us get married because we're mutually in love?"
Yan Qingya glared at He Zhenhua and said, "Go away, who said we were mutually in love? It was you who insisted on chasing after me."
Upon hearing this, He Zhenhua was furious. He put his arm around his wife's waist, narrowed his eyes, and said dangerously, "Didn't you love me back then?"
Seeing her husband's expression, Yan Qingya dared not say anything more offensive and quickly replied, "I love you, okay?"
He Zhenhua chuckled as he put his arm around his wife, saying, "We can be considered to have fallen in love before getting married, which is quite ahead of its time. It's much better than those arranged marriages."
Yan Qingya sighed and said, "My biggest regret in this life is that I can't give you a child. I would be content with just one."
He Zhenhua patted Yan Qingya's back gently and said, "Don't we still have Haobo? He will be your son in the future too."
Yan Qingya said, "It's not really good for us to leave Haobo with Yuhan. Let him come back and live with us when he's a little older. That way, we can spend more time together and build a stronger bond."
He Zhenhua said, "I've thought about that too, but my parents are in Beili Village, Yuhan is there to teach him, and Huayang and Xurui are his playmates. His childhood was happier there, and it was his own request. I can't ignore the child's feelings."
Besides, Haobo can receive a better education there. Yuhan teaches him academic subjects, and Yixian teaches him martial arts. Haobo is already learning middle school material and has started learning martial arts moves. Furthermore, we both have to work, and we're both very busy, often working overtime. Where would we find the time to take care of our child?
Yan Qingya sighed after listening to He Zhenhua's analysis, knowing that her husband was right. It was indeed better for them to take care of the child than to leave the child with He Yuhan, especially since the child's grandparents were also there, making it more suitable.
She could only try to spend more time with Haobo and build a relationship with him in the future. Fortunately, the child had been well-educated by He Yuhan and the others and did not reject her at all, which surprised and delighted her.
For the sake of the child, this is the only way to proceed for now.
Zhou Zhengye returned to Kyoto to get married and brought his wife with him to Qianyuan County. This thwarted the plans of all those in Qianyuan County who had their eyes on Zhou Zhengye's wife. There was nothing they could do; he was already married, and they couldn't very well force him to divorce.
From then on, Zhou Zhengye's life was finally peaceful. The matchmakers stopped approaching him, and the girls who used to hang around him all disappeared.
Zhou Zhengye realized that choosing to get married was indeed the right decision.
Zhou Zhengye chose a weekend to go to Beili Village. He did not take Wen Xiuyun with him. Subconsciously, he did not want to bring Wen Xiuyun in front of He Yuhan, nor did he want them to have too much contact.
