Han Yixian and his group brought back quite a lot of New Year's goods, mostly food, as well as some fabrics and daily necessities.
Han Yixian ignored his mother's arrangements and took a hot bath with He Yuhan before returning to their room to rest.
The couple were woken up in the evening to have dinner and chat for a while. They then spent time with the children, coaxing the twins to sleep before returning to their room.
The twins are currently sleeping with their grandparents. Wen Jinyu wanted her son and daughter-in-law to get some rest, so she didn't ask the two children to move to another room.
Han Yixian and He Yuhan returned to their room, closed the door, and entered their spatial dimension. They rarely entered the dimension during their time in Kyoto, and when they did, they came out quickly, afraid that others would discover something.
Now they could finally enter the space with peace of mind. After entering, they worked for a while, harvesting what needed to be harvested, organizing what needed to be organized, and tidying up what needed to be tidied up. They worked until midnight, took a shower and ate something in the space before leaving to rest.
In the days that followed, Han Yixian and his wife spent their time with the children and checking the homework of the older children.
The New Year was fast approaching, and both Zhou Zhengye's and He Zhenhua's families came to Beili Village to celebrate the New Year.
They were very happy to see Han Yixian and his wife return.
The happiest people during the Chinese New Year are the children, because they get new clothes to wear and good food to eat.
He Zhenhua also conveyed greetings from his second son He Zhendong's family to his parents. He Zhendong is doing well in City C, his life is stable, and the children are all healthy, which puts his parents at ease.
They also brought news of Huo Xicheng: he had been transferred back to Kyoto, gotten married, and everything was going well.
He Chenglin and his wife were relieved to hear that their youngest son's family and Huo Xicheng were all doing well, which made them feel more at ease staying in Beili Village.
He Yuhan was the head chef for the New Year's Eve dinner, with Yan Qingya and Wen Xiuyun helping out. Because there were many people, two tables were set up.
Because of the New Year's goods brought back from Kyoto, this year's New Year's Eve dinner was quite sumptuous, and the children running around made it even more lively.
The men sat at one table to drink, while the women and children sat at another table.
Ignoring everyone else, Gu Huayang sat down next to Zixin, determined to take good care of her.
Gu Qishen looked at his son sitting next to his goddaughter and nudged Han Yixian next to him, saying, "See? Huayang is so good at taking care of people. He takes such good care of Zixin. When you were away from home, it was Huayang who took care of Zixin's meals."
Han Yi looked at Gu Huayang and his daughter, who was waiting for him to feed her, and accepted the reality. Gu Huayang was indeed taking good care of his daughter, and she was now very dependent on him. He couldn't force them to spend time together, could he?
He knew that his daughter would not suffer any mistreatment if she married into the Gu family. He had watched Huayang grow up and knew the boy's temperament very well; he was certain Huayang would treat his daughter well.
He wouldn't object if his daughter really liked Huayang in the future.
He turned to his head and said, "Isn't this what you wanted?"
Gu Qishen said with a smile, "So, you don't object anymore, right?"
Han Yixian rolled his eyes at him and said, "When did I say I objected? I just said that we adults shouldn't make any decisions now, and we should see how the two children feel in the future. As long as the two children are in love, I won't object."
Gu Qishen said, "I'm relieved to hear you say that."
Holding her son, Wen Xiuyun watched the children at the table taking care of and showing consideration for each other, and said, "The children get along so well. It's a blessing to have so many playmates in childhood."
Yan Qingya laughed and said, "Then you should have two more children, then Xiao Jie will have playmates, right?"
Wen Jinyu also said, "While you and Zheng Ye are still young, you should have more children. Children can keep you company; one child is too lonely."
Wen Xiuyun smiled shyly and said, "Zhengye said that Xiaojie is enough for us."
In fact, Wen Xiuyun also felt that one child was too few and had mentioned to Zhou Zhengye that they should have another child. However, Zhou Zhengye clearly told her that one child was enough.
She knew that Zhou Zhengye didn't have much affection for her, and that they only got together because of various factors; otherwise, she would never have married Zhou Zhengye.
She knew she should be content with the life she had today. As an orphan, she never dared to imagine she would have such a life.
The men enjoyed their drinks at dinner, and the children also had some plum juice made by He Yuhan, which they loved for its sweet and sour taste. Yan Qingya and Wen Xiuyun also enjoyed it very much.
Zhou Zhengye also brought some fireworks, and after dinner, everyone went to the yard to watch them.
We set off the fireworks early because we were afraid the children would be asleep and wouldn't be able to see them if it got too late.
Gu Huayang held Han Zixin in his arms, while He Haobo held his little cousin. The two little ones clapped their hands excitedly as they saw the beautiful fireworks.
The children were the happiest that night.
After the fireworks, everyone went back inside to chat. He Yuhan laid out various candies and snacks on the coffee table in the living room, and also brewed the best tea, so that everyone could eat and chat at the same time.
Gu Huayang and He Haobo, along with a few other older children, played with their younger siblings without disturbing the adults.
The women started preparing ingredients for making dumplings, as they were going to eat dumplings at midnight.
The men were chatting in the living room when Zhou Zhengye finally had a chance to ask Han Yixian about his trip to Kyoto. "Yixian, is everything alright in Kyoto this time?"
Han Yixian said, "Everything went relatively smoothly. Yuhan resolved everything in the end."
Zhou Zhengye nodded and said, "That's good. Before the New Year, someone from the city came to the factory to inquire about Yuhan's status there, and I managed to brush it off. It seems that some people did find out about your trip to Kyoto. But judging from their expressions, they don't know the specifics. Just be careful here."
