Chapter Fifteen: Meeting

Yuan Fengshan praised the food Du Yuhan had prepared for dinner, while Yuan Qiwen ate without looking up.

Han Xiuqin was also very happy. Her nephew was very picky about food, and Du Yuhan was a good cook. Her nephew was going to be lucky in the future.

Yuan Qiwen was immediately won over by Du Yuhan's meal and treated her extremely well.

When they were resting that evening, Han Xiuqin asked, "Old Yuan, what do you think of this child? Isn't he very good?"

Yuan Fengshan was also a man of great experience and had his own way of judging people. He shook his head and said, "This child is not simple. I can't see through him."

Han Xiuqin was very surprised by her husband's answer and said, "How could you have such a feeling? She seems like a very innocent young girl to me."

As Yuan Fengshan took off his clothes, he said, "According to what you said, this child has always lived in the countryside and has never seen the world. But look at her today, she is not timid or hesitant at all. She was also very comfortable with me when we first met."

What do you think of the food she cooked today?

Han Xiuqin replied happily, "This child's cooking skills are really good. Yixian will be very lucky in the future."

Seeing that his wife hadn't grasped the point of his words, Yuan Fengshan said, "The way that fish was cooked today is not something an ordinary person could do. I once ate that cooking method and taste at a restaurant run by an imperial chef. I never thought that I would be able to eat it at home after so many years. Although the ingredients are simple, they perfectly bring out the freshness of the fish."

Han Xiuqin was also surprised after hearing this. "You're not mistaken, are you? How could a girl who has always lived in the countryside compare to the dishes made by the imperial chef? Maybe it's just a coincidence."

Du Yuhan's cooking skills were honed little by little over time. After her space appeared and was upgraded, Du Yuhan even discovered that there were recipes in the space shop, so she bought them and started learning.

After moving abroad, she gradually built her business by relying on her culinary skills, eventually becoming a powerful businesswoman.

Today, she wanted to leave a good impression on the Yuan family by showcasing her excellent cooking skills, but unexpectedly, it aroused suspicion.

Yuan Fengshan also thought it was impossible, shaking his head and saying, "I don't know how to explain my feelings. But Yixian has nothing to gain now, so it would be better to have a wife with good cooking skills. Maybe this young girl can really calm Yixian's increasingly irritable temper."

Yuan Fengshan also sensed a calming aura emanating from Du Yuhan, and felt that Du Yuhan was quite composed and mature beyond her years, much more so than his youngest son. Perhaps this time he had truly found the right person.

After resting at the Yuan family's house for one night, Han Xiuqin took Du Yuhan to the place where Han Yixian was staying.

Han Yixian did not stay at his aunt's house when he arrived in D province. He was a war hero, and with the power of the Han family, the country would not ignore him.

Han Yixian requested to stay in a quiet place, so Yuan Fengshan arranged for him to stay in a small courtyard next to a sanatorium not far from the military region.

This sanatorium used to be a villa belonging to a wealthy family. After liberation, it became ownerless and was confiscated. Because of its good environment, it was used as a place for cadres to recuperate.

The courtyard is not located inside the retirement home, but rather some distance away, closer to the mountain behind it. The courtyard is surrounded by lush trees, which completely shade it, creating a very tranquil environment.

At this time, the person taking care of Han Yixian was Liu Gang, the orderly who had always been by his side. After Han Yixian was injured, Liu Gang stayed by his side to take care of him, and later followed Han Yixian to D province.

Han Xiuqin rode her bicycle with Du Yuhan to the courtyard where Han Yixian lived.

Du Yuhan was very familiar with this place. It was where she had lived for several years in her previous life, and she knew every plant and tree here very well.

Now that she has returned to this place and is about to see Han Yixian again, Du Yuhan is extremely excited.

When they arrived at the gate, Han Xiuqin pushed her bicycle into the yard, with Du Yuhan following closely behind.

The weather was still quite cold, and there was no greenery in the yard. The few trees that were there were bare, but the yard was very clean.

A bluestone path leads directly from the courtyard gate to the main house. Several meters of bluestone slabs also pave the ground in front of the main house, looking very clean and tidy.

The main house in the courtyard has four rooms. The easternmost room is the kitchen, with the stove connected to the heated brick bed in the eastern bedroom. The third room is the living room, and the westernmost room is also a bedroom.

There are two side rooms in the middle of the west wall of the courtyard, and a storage room and a woodshed on the east side. The whole courtyard is very tidy.

Han Xiuqin led Du Yuhan through the door of the main room and into the house.

The main room is used as a living room and is quite large. There is a sofa and a coffee table in front of it. Next to the sofa is a round table with several chairs, which is used for meals.

Upon hearing the commotion, orderly Liu Gang quickly came out to greet him. "Director Han, you've arrived. The regimental commander is inside. Please come in."

As he spoke, Liu Gang subtly observed Du Yuhan. He vaguely knew that this was the caregiver that the regimental commander's aunt had found for him, specifically to take care of the commander. But she was too young; she was still just a child.

Du Yuhan greeted Liu Gang with a smile, making Liu Gang blush.

Although Du Yuhan is short and appears very young, she possesses a mature air about her. Perhaps it's because a mature soul resides within her youthful body.

Han Xiuqin pulled Du Yuhan into the inner room, where Han Yixian was sitting in a wheelchair reading a book.

Du Yuhan entered the room and finally saw her face, which she hadn't seen for many years.

She gazed greedily at Han Yixian. His jade-like face was somewhat pale at this moment, with a high nose bridge, sword-like eyebrows that reached his temples, deep and bright eyes, and lips that were neither too thick nor too thin but tightly pursed, also somewhat pale due to blood deficiency.

His features, each outstanding in its own way, combined to create a handsome face. Although his face was exceptionally handsome, it did not possess a trace of femininity; instead, it exuded a resolute and decisive air.

Du Yuhan knew that if this tense and gloomy face were to smile, it would give people a gentle and refined feeling, like a gentleman.

At this moment, Han Yixian was sitting in a wheelchair, making it difficult to see his tall stature, but Du Yuhan knew that Han Yixian was at least 1.85 meters tall.

The physical pain and psychological trauma had made Han Yixian extremely thin, and his military uniform was now too big for him.

Seeing this, Du Yuhan felt very sad and made up her mind to get Han Yixian's health back in order.

Han Yixian knew that his aunt had come. He looked up and saw that his aunt seemed very happy. He also saw a little girl following behind his aunt.

The little girl was quite small, looking to be only twelve or thirteen years old. She had a very thin face, a pointed chin, big eyes, willow-leaf eyebrows, and cherry-like lips. Her skin was a bit rough and dark, but overall she was quite pretty.
