Chapter Ninety-One: Follow-up Handling

The situation was critical, and Du Yuhan had no time to think. With a thought, she took out the pistol from her spatial storage and fired a shot.

With Du Yuhan's skill level, she would have hit the person squarely in the head; otherwise, all those years of gunplay she had in her previous life would have been for nothing.

The man was shot dead and fell straight to the ground. Han Yixian also saw Du Yuhan holding a gun at the gate of the courtyard.

Du Yuhan ran into the yard and came to Han Yixian's side, calling out, "Brother Han, are you alright?"

Although Han Yixian was shocked, seeing Du Yuhan's anxious expression, he replied, "I'm fine. Luckily, you intervened in time and killed him, saving me."

Only then did Du Yuhan realize that she had killed someone.

Although Du Yuhan often played with guns in her previous life and was a very good shot, she usually only practiced shooting at targets in clubs and had never fired a gun at a real person, let alone killed anyone.

In her panic, she dropped her pistol and collapsed to the ground, muttering, "I killed someone, I killed someone."

As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.

Han Yixian knew Du Yuhan was terrified as soon as he saw her like this, so he quickly stepped forward, bent down, and patted her back with one hand to comfort her, saying, "Don't be afraid, Yuhan, you killed him to save me. If you hadn't killed him, he would have killed me."

Du Yuhan, her face streaked with tears, clung to Han Yixian's leg, trembling as she said, "He deserved to die. I was right to kill him, wasn't I? I didn't commit a crime, did I?"

Han Yixian grasped Du Yuhan's hand and nodded reassuringly, saying, "You not only didn't commit a crime by killing him, but you also performed a great service. He was a bad man who killed many of our comrades; he was an enemy spy. We've been trying to catch him; he should have died long ago."

Yuhan, I know you're a brave girl. Brother Han says the person who heard the gunshot will soon arrive at the courtyard. Remember, I'm the one who shot and killed that person.

You just came back from the mountains. When you came in, I had already killed the person. You don't know anything about it. If anyone asks you anything, just say you don't know, understand?

Du Yuhan realized what Han Yixian meant. If people found out that she was the one who shot and killed the spy, many things would be difficult to explain.

Seeing that Du Yuhan had taken his advice to heart, Han Yixian said, "You should put your pistol away now so that no one else can find it."

Upon hearing this, Du Yuhan quickly picked up the pistol from the ground, then stood up somewhat fearfully and went inside, where Han Yixian couldn't see her, and stored the pistol in her spatial storage.

Du Yuhan was also sweating profusely. She had revealed so much; Han Yixian would definitely suspect her. If Han Yixian asked her, how should she answer?

Before Du Yuhan could think any further, Han Yixian entered the room. He took out a pistol from his bedroom in the east wing and looked at the panicked Du Yuhan, saying, "Yuhan, remember what I told you, you don't know anything. Don't panic, Brother Han promises not to ask anything, and Brother Han will protect you."

Hearing Han Yixian's words, Du Yuhan's heart suddenly calmed down, and she believed Han Yixian's words.

With tears in her eyes, Du Yuhan looked at Han Yixian and said, "Thank you, Brother Han."

Looking at Du Yuhan's tear-streaked face, Han Yixian said with heartache, "Come on, sit on the sofa and rest for a while. Someone will be here soon. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything."

Du Yuhan obediently sat on the sofa, but her body was still trembling slightly. After all, she had just experienced a terrifying event and was still feeling lingering fear.

Han Yi poured a cup of hot water and handed it to Du Yuhan, saying, "Drink some water, calm down, you'll be fine soon."

Du Yuhan raised her hand and found that her hands were covered in mud, which she had gotten from digging potatoes in the mountains. She hadn't had time to wash them off before this harrowing experience happened.

Han Yixian also saw Du Yuhan's hands and took a towel to wipe them for her.

Du Yuhan quickly said, "Brother Han, I'll just go wash up."

He stood up and went into the bathroom to wash his hands in the basin.

After washing her hands, Du Yuhan's emotions stabilized considerably. She picked up the glass of water that Han Yi had poured and started drinking it.

Just then, Yao Jingsong led his men into the courtyard. He was shocked to see the man lying on the ground and the bullet hole in his head. He quickly ran into the house and was greatly relieved to see that Han Yixian was unharmed.

Yao Jingsong wiped the sweat from his brow and said, "That really scared me to death. I knew something was wrong as soon as I heard the gunshot coming from here, so I rushed over with my men. Did you kill him?"

Han Yi nodded and said, "This morning Zheng Ye came here to remind me that Scorpion had come to Luancheng and might come to seek revenge, so I've been carrying my pistol with me. I didn't expect Scorpion to come so soon. However, he was a bit careless because he thought I was paralyzed, and I ended up killing him in a counterattack."

Yao Jingsong said after hearing this, "That was a close call. Luckily, Commander Zhou came to remind you."

At this moment, Liu Gang and Yuan Qiwen also ran into the yard and were shocked to see a person lying on the ground.

They had run back after hearing the gunshots coming from the courtyard. It turned out there really was something going on there.

Han Yixian recounted the events as he had planned, and then Yao Jingsong had the dead enemy agent carried away.

Soon Zhou Zhengye and Yuan Qiliang also arrived.

Zhou Zhengye was somewhat taken aback when he heard that Han Yi had killed the scorpion first.

He looked at Han Yixian with disbelief and said, "You just killed this battle-hardened, cunning scorpion like that?"

Han Yixian said, "He underestimated me and was too careless. He thought that I was incapable of fighting because I was injured and paralyzed. But my hand is not paralyzed, and my marksmanship is still just as fast, ruthless, and accurate."

Zhou Zhengye laughed loudly after hearing Han Yixian's words, "You took down that scorpion that so many people couldn't handle so easily. He deserved it. Yixian, you're something else. In the end, he was still outmaneuvered by you."

Han Yixian rolled his eyes at Zhou Zhengye, who was beaming with joy, and said, "Alright, I'm fine here. With Scorpion dead, some people will definitely panic. Go and make arrangements quickly, and see if you can dig out more people."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Zhengye immediately went to make arrangements.

Yuan Qiliang didn't leave; he had to stay to protect his cousin. Who knew if there were any hidden enemies who might launch a surprise attack?

The yard was quickly cleaned up, and Liu Gang and Yuan Qiwen washed the ground clean.

When Yuan Qiliang heard that only his cousin was home and the other three had gone into the mountains, he said angrily, "Liu Gang is not allowed to leave your commander from now on. How can you leave your commander at home all by himself while you go out to play?"

"Du Yuhan, from now on, handle things on your own. Don't always involve Liu Gang. His job is to protect my cousin."
