This morning, Han Yixian instructed Liu Gang to air out the slightly damp quilt, so the quilt is now dry, soft, and has a sunny smell.
Lying in her own bed, Du Yuhan felt much more at ease. She had been running a fever all day, felt weak all over, and was not in good spirits. She soon fell asleep again.
It was already dark, so Zhou Zhengye decided not to leave and stayed in the courtyard instead.
Yuan Qiwen didn't go back to the courtyard today; he stayed home instead. Du Yuhan was sick and couldn't be asked to take care of them or cook for them anymore. As for Liu Gang's cooking, he didn't want to eat it.
Han Yixian was afraid that Du Yuhan would have nightmares again, so he stayed in the living room and listened to the sounds coming from Du Yuhan's room from time to time.
Afraid of disturbing Du Yuhan's rest, he spoke very softly to Zhou Zhengye in the living room.
Zhou Zhengye said, "Yuhan must be scared. She seemed a little frightened when she entered the courtyard just now."
Han Yi nodded and said, "She's so young and has never experienced anything like this before. How could she not be scared to see a dead body lying in the yard? It will definitely leave a shadow in her heart. She had nightmares all night yesterday, got frightened, and caught a chill, which caused her to develop a high fever. It will probably take some time for her to get better."
Zhou Zhengye sighed and said softly, "That's true, she's never seen anything like this before. Even when we first went to the battlefield, it took us a while to get over it."
"It's fortunate she died in the yard; it would have been much worse if she had died inside. The little girl probably won't be able to sleep now. There's nothing we can do; you should comfort and reassure her, but the rest is up to her to adjust."
Sure enough, Du Yuhan was awakened by a nightmare again after sleeping for more than an hour.
Hearing the commotion, Han Yixian came to the door of the west room and said, "Yuhan, don't be afraid, I'm right outside. Do you still have a fever?"
Hearing Han Yixian's voice outside the door, Du Yuhan felt much more at ease and said, "I don't have a fever, I'm fine. Brother Han, you should rest too, I'm alright."
She was deeply moved to know that Han Yixian was waiting outside the door. He hadn't even taken a nap that day and must be very tired after spending the whole day with her at the hospital.
Zhou Zhengye also said from outside the door, "Yuhan, don't be afraid, sleep peacefully, we'll be right outside the door watching over you."
Du Yuhan was surprised to hear Zhou Zhengye say, "Thank you, Brother Zhou, I'm really fine. You guys should go and get some rest."
Han Yixian looked at Zhou Zhengye, who was standing by the door talking, with mixed feelings. He had already sensed something was amiss; his good brother Zhou Zhengye probably had feelings for Du Yuhan that weren't simple.
The thought of this possibility made Han Yixian feel a little annoyed. He didn't want to give up the girl he had his eye on, not even Zhou Zhengye.
Fortunately, he could tell that Du Yuhan didn't particularly like Zhou Zhengye, and her interactions with him were merely polite and courteous. This put his mind at ease. Otherwise, he would definitely have kept Zhou Zhengye and Du Yuhan separate. At least Du Yuhan liked him, which made him feel comfortable letting them interact.
Han Yixian and Zhou Zhengye stayed in the living room until very late before going to sleep.
Knowing that Han Yixian was guarding the living room made Du Yuhan feel much more at ease. After falling asleep, she didn't have any more nightmares and slept soundly until dawn.
Having experienced much in her past life, Du Yuhan quickly recovered her composure. If she hadn't personally killed someone this time, simply seeing a dead body wouldn't have caused her such a reaction.
Du Yuhan felt much better. It was just a fever from catching a cold, nothing serious.
She quickly got up, dressed, and went to the kitchen without washing up. She told Liu Gang, who was cooking, "I'll cook after I wash up."
Looking at Du Yuhan, who seemed to be in good spirits, Liu Gang asked, "Are you really alright?"
Du Yuhan nodded and emphasized, "I'm really fine. You boil some water first, I'll be done in a minute."
After saying that, Du Yuhan quickly washed up and then went into the kitchen to get busy.
In the morning, she made cornmeal porridge, thin pancakes, scrambled eggs, and shredded potatoes. She then picked some lettuce leaves from the yard to wrap the pancakes in. By today's standards, this was a good meal.
She knew that Han Yixian and the others hadn't eaten well yesterday, so she made a more substantial breakfast today.
Han Yixian and Zhou Zhengye also got up, and after washing up, they saw Liu Gang bringing food into the room.
Looking at the well-prepared food, Zhou Zhengye asked, "Yuhan made this, right? Is she alright now? Can she get up and cook?"
Liu Gang replied, "Yuhan said she's fine now. She even made breakfast."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Zhengye went to the kitchen and saw Du Yuhan cooking. He sat down in front of the stove to help with the fire and asked, "Yuhan, are you all better?"
Du Yuhan replied, "I'm all better. It wasn't anything serious, just a fever and a cold. Brother Zhou, don't get involved anymore, the food will be ready soon and we don't need to light the fire anymore. You should go inside and eat."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Zhengye stopped adding firewood to the stove and went to the yard to get water to wash his hands.
Breakfast consisted of thin white flour pancakes, golden scrambled eggs, and delicious stir-fried potato shreds, all served with tender green lettuce leaves. Rolling all the vegetables in the pancakes and eating them together tasted really good.
That's how Du Yuhan eats.
Others saw Du Yuhan roll all the vegetables in a pancake and ate it, so they did the same, and it was really delicious.
Zhou Zhengye nodded while eating a crepe, "It's really good, the taste is fantastic."
Zhou Zhengye felt that eating a bite of the rolled pancake and then drinking a sip of the fragrant cornmeal porridge was an unparalleled enjoyment.
He was even a little jealous of Han Yixian and Liu Gang, who got to eat Du Yuhan's cooking every day.
Han Yixian, whose palate had been spoiled by Du Yuhan, hadn't eaten well yesterday; he just wasn't hungry. This breakfast was really to his liking; he ate two wraps and drank two bowls of corn porridge.
