Chapter Ninety-Three: Illness

Du Yuhan quickly prepared lunch, and after she and Han Yixian ate together, they took the food up the mountain. The two young men must have been hungry after working all day.

When she arrived at the mountain, Liu Gang and Yuan Qiwen were working hard. This was food, and she could only feel at ease after bringing it home.

Du Yuhan invited the two of them to eat. She had brought dry food, a large lunchbox of vegetables, and a pot of water.

She looked at the potatoes the two of them had dug up; there was already a huge pile.

She planted these potatoes little by little in her spare time, and it wasn't until she watered them that she realized she had actually planted quite a lot.

Most of the potato seeds were cultivated by her in the space, so the varieties were naturally improved. In addition, with the help of the well water in the space, the potatoes under each vine grew big and plentiful.

Liu Gang and Yuan Qiwen finished their meal as quickly as possible and then got back to work. They felt uneasy until they got the potatoes home; they had a sense of urgency about it.

Fortunately, it wasn't a big deal for the two young men to do this much work.

It took a whole day to dig up all the potatoes.

As it was getting dark, the three of them started carrying potatoes back.

When they first arrived home, the three of them dumped the potatoes onto the bluestone slab in the yard.

When Han Yixian and Yuan Qiliang heard the commotion and came out, they were both surprised to see the large potatoes on the ground.

Yuan Qiliang exclaimed in amazement, "These potatoes growing in the mountains are really big! There are so many of them!"

Yuan Qiwen said, "This is just the beginning. There are still many more in the mountains, and we'll have to carry them several more times."

Upon hearing this, Yuan Qiliang exclaimed in shock, "There are so many? How many potatoes did they plant?!"

Han Yixian felt a pang of heartache seeing Du Yuhan carrying a basket of potatoes back, sweating profusely from exhaustion, and his brows furrowed involuntarily.

He cursed himself for not thinking things through. How could Du Yuhan, a young girl, compare to Liu Gang and Qiwen, two grown men? She must be exhausted carrying a basket of potatoes back.

Han Yixian said, "Qiliang, let Yuhan rest at home for a while. We still need to cook. You and Liu Gang go into the mountains to carry potatoes."

Yuan Qiliang could tell from Du Yuhan's constant wiping of sweat from her face that the girl was exhausted. Looking at her cousin's gloomy face, he knew her cousin was worried about her.

Yuan Qiliang quickly said, "No problem, this is our job. Yuhan, you can rest at home and cook for us while you're at it."

A basket of potatoes is very heavy. Although Du Yuhan didn't carry a full basket, she was still exhausted from the journey. Coupled with what had happened during the day, she was indeed a bit overwhelmed.

She didn't hesitate to agree to stay home and cook dinner for everyone.

After Yuan Qiliang and the other two left, Han Yixian said, "Yuhan, go wash your face, drink some water and rest. There's no rush to cook. Don't they still have to carry it a few more times?"

Du Yuhan also felt weak all over. She had used all her strength to keep up with Liu Gang and Yuan Qiwen. Only now did she realize that she seemed to have overexerted herself.

She was too tired to talk anymore; she simply didn't have the energy.

She nodded to Han Yixian, washed her face, and said weakly, "Brother Han, I'm going to rest in the west room for a while. Call me if you need anything."

Han Yi nodded and said, "You should rest well. There's no rush to cook."

Du Yuhan returned to her room and quickly drank some well water from the space to feel better.

After resting for a while, Du Yuhan dragged her tired body to the kitchen to cook when Liu Gang and the others brought back another batch of potatoes.

Yuan Qiliang and his team carried the potatoes back several more times before they finally managed to do so.

Looking at the mountain of potatoes piled up in the yard, Yuan Qiliang was so shocked that he didn't know what to say.

While carrying the potatoes, he had already found out that Du Yuhan had planted them in her spare time while digging for wild vegetables and hunting in the mountains. She never expected to harvest so many.

Everyone was finally relieved after carrying all the potatoes home. They were all food!

Du Yuhan had already finished cooking. While they were carrying potatoes, she quickly took a shower, otherwise feeling sticky all over would be too uncomfortable.

After carrying the potatoes, Yuan Qiliang and the other two were covered in sweat, and they all took a shower before eating.

It was almost 10 p.m. when we finished eating.

It was already so late, so Yuan Qiliang didn't go back and stayed in the small courtyard instead.

After finishing her meal, Du Yuhan went back to her room to rest without even cleaning up the kitchen. She was in a bad state today, having been frightened and exhausted, and her small body couldn't handle it.

Everyone was very tired today, and after dinner they all went to bed to rest.

Du Yuhan didn't go into her spatial dimension that night and went straight to rest. However, she didn't sleep well and kept having nightmares.

After all, she had killed someone during the day and might have exposed her secret, so she was on tenterhooks all day.

Du Yuhan was awakened by nightmares several times during the night. Each time, she was covered in sweat, and her clothes were soaked.

The first two times she went into her space to wash up, but later she was too tired and fell asleep again without realizing it.

The next day, when it was broad daylight, everyone was up, but Du Yuhan, who always got up on time to make breakfast, remained silent.

Han Yixian assumed that Du Yuhan was too tired from yesterday and had overslept, so he told everyone not to wake her and to let her sleep a little longer. He also asked Liu Gang and Yuan Qiwen to make breakfast.

Even after Liu Gang and the others had their breakfast on the table, there was still no movement from Du Yuhan's room.

Han Yixian felt a chill and sensed something was wrong, so he went to the door of the west room, knocked on it, and called out, "Yuhan, get up and eat."

After waiting for a while, there was no response from inside the house.

Han Yixian sensed something was wrong and called out again, "Yuhan, get up, it's time for breakfast."

Yuan Qiwen called out from the doorway, "Yuhan, get up."

There was still no movement inside the house.

Han Yixian was somewhat anxious; he knew that Du Yuhan must have encountered a problem.

He said, "The door is locked from the inside. Go and see if you can get in through the window."

Liu Gang hurried to the window of Du Yuhan's west room in the courtyard, but the window was closed from the inside. A curtain covered the window, obscuring the view inside.

Left with no other choice, Liu Gang broke a pane of glass to open the window, jumped into the west room, and opened the door.

Even with such a loud commotion, Du Yuhan hadn't been woken up. Liu Gang also realized that something was wrong with Du Yuhan.

Han Yixian went into the west room first. When he got to the bedside, he saw that Du Yuhan's cheeks were red, her lips were chapped, and her eyes were tightly closed. She hadn't been woken up by such a big commotion.

Han Yixian knew something was wrong as soon as he saw the situation. He touched Du Yuhan's forehead and found it burning hot; she undoubtedly had a high fever.

Han Yixian felt extremely guilty. Although Du Yuhan had remained calm and composed since yesterday's incident, as if nothing had happened, she must have been terrified. Adding to that, the exhaustion from digging and carrying potatoes in the mountains afterwards caused her health problems and illness.

I was so careless. Even I needed time to recover after my first time killing someone on the battlefield, let alone a young girl like Du Yuhan. I should have given her more guidance and care.

Han Yixian regretted it so much that he wanted to punch himself a few times.
