The Du family was once again filled with excitement as they boarded the train, the clattering and rattling of which brought them yet another new experience. This train was much more stable than a car.

When it was time for dinner, Du Yuhan filled two lunchboxes with hot water, took out some meat sauce from a canned jar, spread it on the steamed buns, and it tasted delicious. Even four-year-old Du Haisheng ate a steamed bun.

The aroma of the meat sauce filled the air, making those around it salivate.

The Du family ate steamed buns and meat sauce with hot water.

Du Lianqiao felt that even without meat sauce, he could still eat several of these fragrant white steamed buns in one go.

He was reluctant to eat such good food, but his daughter said that if the two large pots of steamed buns weren't eaten soon, they would spoil in the hot weather, so he had no choice but to eat them.

After the meal, Du Yuhan took out cucumbers and tomatoes that she had washed beforehand and distributed them to everyone as dessert.

Wang Yuqiao said, "Yuhan is so thoughtful. This way we won't have to buy food outside. It will save us a lot of money for so many of us."

Du Yuhan said, "Not only are things outside expensive, but they're also not as clean, hygienic, or delicious as what we make ourselves. I've made enough dry food, so you don't need to be frugal, Mom. Everyone should eat some of these cucumbers and tomatoes to avoid getting a sore throat from the long journey."

The Du family had eaten and drunk their fill, making everyone around them extremely envious.

How many people eat white flour buns these days? But judging from this family's attire, they don't seem to be rich. They probably made these specifically for eating on the road.

The train arrived in Kyoto late at night. After getting off, Du Yuhan went straight to the ticket window to buy a ticket. There were train tickets available, but sleeper tickets were impossible. Left with no other option, Du Yuhan bought a hard seat ticket.

Having a seat is already a blessing; if you don't have a seat, standing all the way to Northeast China would be a nightmare.

Du Yuhan recognized the train as the one she had taken a few days ago to save her nephew; it was truly a coincidence.

The train started in Kyoto, and Du Yuhan thought that perhaps she could ask Huo Xicheng's cousin, the train conductor, to help her get some sleeper tickets. That way, they could sleep all the way to C City and then to the village where the Du family was staying. There was still a long way to go, and she didn't know when they would actually reach their destination. But no matter how difficult it was, hope made it seem less daunting.

Du Yuhan and the others didn't look for a hotel to stay in and rested in the waiting room. It wasn't worth it to find a hotel in the middle of the night and not get to sleep for more than a few hours. Du Lianqiao and Wang Yuqiao both disagreed with spending that money.

They rested for a while on a bench in the waiting room, and the next day the family ate some dry food early in the morning. Du Yuhan's two large pots of steamed buns were almost finished.

Looking at the time, Du Yuhan found a place with a phone and called her father to tell him that they had left and what time they would arrive in City C. She added that it would be even better if someone could be arranged to pick them up.

Now is not the time for her to be polite with her father. Having someone help her can save her a lot of trouble.

He Chenglin complained, "You silly girl, why didn't you tell me you were transferring in Kyoto? I could have gone to see your adoptive parents. I could have asked someone to buy you some sleeper tickets so you wouldn't have to sit all the way to Beijing." Du Yuhan replied, "Dad, don't worry. This is the same train I took last time. I'll ask the conductor after I get on; maybe he'll give me some sleeper tickets. You don't need to ask anyone for help; it's unnecessary."

He Chenglin said, "Then I'll arrange for someone to wait for you in City C and take you directly to Laohewan Village."

The village Party secretary over there is named Liang Shouzhen. He used to be one of my subordinates. After being injured and demobilized, he returned to his hometown and became a village cadre. Just call him Uncle Liang.

I've already spoken to him, so you can go without worry. After you've settled your adoptive parents and family in, come home for a visit; your mother misses you. Stay home for a few days before heading back to Luancheng.”

Du Yuhan smiled and said, "Okay, I'll come home to see you then."

When the time came, Du Yuhan took her family onto the train.

After boarding the train, Du Yuhan went to find the train conductor, Tao Guangliang.

When Tao Guangliang saw that it was the young girl who had helped catch the human traffickers last time who was knocking on the door, he asked happily, "Xiao Du, what are you doing here?"

Du Yuhan said with a smile, "Train Conductor Tao, I'm going to City C in Northeast China with my parents. We only managed to buy hard seat tickets. Could you perhaps get us a few sleeper tickets instead?"

Tao Guangliang liked this brave and clever girl very much and said with a smile, "Just for your act of bravery last time, I'll make an exception for you. Tell me, how many more do you want?"

Du Yuhan was overjoyed when she heard this, "Thank you, conductor, I'll get four more tickets."

Tao Guangliang then bought Du Yuhan four sleeper tickets: two lower berths and two middle berths. Du Yuhan thanked him profusely before taking the sleeper tickets back to her original carriage, and then everyone moved their luggage to the sleeper carriage together.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief once they were seated in their sleeper berths.

Du Yuhan said, "Dad, Mom, you haven't had a good rest these past two days, so please get some rest. Mom and little brother will sleep on the lower bunk, Dad and Haifeng will sleep on the upper bunk, Haichao will sleep on the lower bunk, and I'll sit on the lower bunk and watch the luggage."

Du Lianqiao said, "You go upstairs to sleep, I'll watch the luggage."

Du Yuhan said, "Oh, Dad, why are you being so polite with me? You can take over for me after you wake up. It'll be much easier for us with a sleeper berth. Besides, I'm not that sleepy."

Finally, everyone listened to Du Yuhan and went to bed to rest. Du Yuhan also sat on the bed. Du Haichao's small body didn't take up much space at all. The two siblings, one at each end, shared the bed perfectly.

After coaxing her second brother to sleep, Du Yuhan took out a medical book to read, which was how she passed the time.

The Du family hadn't had a good rest these past two days, and they all quickly fell asleep to the clatter of the train, seemingly feeling at ease with Du Yuhan by their side.

Having successfully left Xikou Village and escaped the Du family's old house, Du Yuhan finally felt completely at ease.

She felt as if she had accomplished an important mission in this life, being able to leave Xikou Village with her adoptive parents.

At this moment, she was excited because it meant that she had changed the fate of her adoptive parents' family. They would no longer be oppressed by those people in the Du family's old house, and they would no longer be robbed of their food and starve to death.

Even if a great famine is imminent, with my help, my adoptive parents and their family will surely get through it safely.

In this life, she wants to ensure that her adoptive parents and their family live a happy and peaceful life.

Du Yuhan reflected on how many things had happened during this period. First, she saved her nephew and helped him reunite with his biological parents. Then, she helped her adoptive parents move away from Xikou Village, getting rid of the bloodsucking bastards at the Du family's old house. Completing each task gave her a great sense of accomplishment.
