Chapter Sixty: Soothing the Child

Just as Du Yuhan turned to leave, she saw Huo Xicheng return, carrying a bag of milk powder and a pot of hot water.

Seeing that the formula and hot water were available, she happily said, "I was just about to find something to eat for the children. Brother Huo, your formula came at just the right time. They're all hungry. They'll cry nonstop if they don't eat their fill. Didn't you go with the arresting people?"

Huo Xicheng placed the thermos, milk powder, and a tea mug on the table and said, "They don't need me anymore; they've already taken action. Why would they need these things for the child? I just heard from my cousin that the child needed these things, so he asked me to bring them."

Du Yuhan took the formula and said, "I know how, I'll make the formula for them. But without a bottle, it'll be difficult for the baby to drink milk. I'll need your help later, Brother Huo."

Huo Xicheng nodded and said, "No problem."

He then tried to coax the two children to make formula, but as a grown man, he was clearly inexperienced in such matters and became flustered, causing the children to cry even harder.

Du Yuhan quickly brewed a large mug of milk, and then secretly added some well water from her spatial dimension to cool the milk down quickly.

She took a small spoon from her bag, rinsed it with water, and came to the children, saying, "Brother Huo, please carry this older child to the bedside and sit him down. Then you hold the younger child at an angle in your arms, and I will breastfeed them. They will stop crying soon."

At this moment, Huo Xicheng was already at his wit's end by the children's ear-piercing cries. As soon as he heard Du Yuhan say that he could make the children stop crying, he quickly did as Du Yuhan said.

He first picked up the older child who could already walk and placed him on the bed to sit up.

Du Yuhan was feeding her child with warm milk. Her large glasses were in the way, and since there was no one else around, she took them off and placed them on the table next to her.

Huo Xicheng also saw the beautiful, somewhat youthful face behind the large glasses. He had a feeling that he had known all along.

Du Yuhan gently said, holding the milk, "Little one, don't cry. How about Auntie feeds you some milk? It's very delicious, would you like to have a sip?"

Du Yuhan fed a spoonful of milk to the older child's lips.

The child, who had been crying loudly, sniffed and stopped crying. He looked at Du Yuhan, then at the spoon in front of him, and opened his little mouth.

Upon seeing this, Du Yuhan quickly put the spoon to the child's mouth.

The child actually drank the spoonful of milk, smacked his lips a few times, and then said to Du Yuhan in a sweet, coquettish voice, "More!"

Du Yuhan's eyes narrowed with joy; she had finally dealt with the little devil who was causing the annoying noises. She carefully fed the child milk.

Huo Xicheng was very impressed when he saw that Du Yuhan had successfully soothed one child. Du Yuhan quickly picked up another baby who was a few months old.

Du Yuhan found it amusing to watch Huo Xicheng clumsily holding his little nephew. She put down the milk and personally instructed Huo Xicheng on how to hold the baby properly to make him more comfortable.

Then Huo Xicheng sat on the bed, holding the baby and the child waiting for Du Yuhan to feed him milk.

Du Yuhan fed her little nephew a spoonful of milk, which successfully stopped the little boy from crying.

Huo Xicheng breathed a huge sigh of relief when he saw that the two children had finally stopped crying. He felt that taking care of children was more tiring than going to war. Compared to taking care of children, he would rather go to war.

Du Yuhan added well water from her spatial dimension to the milk, so the two little ones really liked the taste of the milk.

The older children quickly finished eating and then patted their little bellies cutely, saying to Du Yuhan, "I'm full."

Du Yuhan was also charmed by the adorable child and laughed, "This little guy is so smart, I wonder whose child he is."

The baby's appetite was even smaller, so Du Yuhan estimated that it was about time and stopped feeding her nephew.

She put down her cup, took the baby from Huo Xicheng, held him upright, and gently patted his back until he burped. Then she held him horizontally in her arms and comforted him.

Huo Xicheng, seeing how skillfully Du Yuhan took care of the child, said, "You seem to know how to take care of children very well."

In her previous life, Du Yuhan took care of her son as he grew up and later took care of her grandson, so she has a lot of experience in taking care of children.

However, she couldn't say that, so she could only smile and say, "I have three younger brothers in my family, and I raised them all myself, so I have a lot of experience in taking care of children."

I want to get off at the next stop and wait for the child's parents to come find them. Such a young child needs someone to take care of him, otherwise it would be a real problem if he got sick.

Huo Xicheng also knew that two children this young were really hard for ordinary people to take care of; just one of them crying incessantly was unbearable.

Huo Xicheng said, "We'll be at the next station soon. My cousin will notify the station police station and contact the police department in Kyoto. The family that lost their child must be extremely anxious, and we should get news from the child's family soon."

I'll get off the train with you and help you safely hand the children over to their parents.

Du Yuhan asked, "Didn't the traffickers tell you where they planned to get off the bus or if anyone was there to meet them?"

Huo Xicheng replied, "I've confessed, but the place where I'm getting off is still quite far, with many stops to go, so I won't go. My cousin and the others will notify the local police department and ask them to cooperate. Those bad guys won't get away."

Du Yuhan nodded and said, "That's good."

Du Yuhan held her nephew and soothed him for a while until the child fell asleep again. The three-month-old baby was naturally sleepy, and the medication the traffickers had given him made him even sleepier.

Another child clung to Du Yuhan's clothes and kept avoiding Huo Xicheng, seemingly a little afraid of him, which left Huo Xicheng feeling helpless.

He doesn't look fierce at all, so why is the child afraid of him?

Du Yuhan put her little nephew on a bed, tucked him in, and then held another slightly older child, who was a little scared but very attached to her, in her arms and comforted him.

After the child had eaten his fill, and with a gentle auntie beside him to soothe him, he quickly drifted off to sleep.

Du Yuhan laid the two children side by side and covered them with blankets before finally letting out a sigh of relief. Today was truly thrilling and exciting; it was a miracle that the children were rescued unharmed.

Huo Xicheng felt as if something had struck his heart when he looked at Du Yuhan gently coaxing the two children.

Du Yuhan's eyes were filled with maternal love. Huo Xicheng found it strange that such a look appeared on a little girl. He felt that such an expression should appear on a mother, not a little girl.

The train soon arrived at the station, and the station police station received a call from Tao Guangliang and the train police, who immediately dispatched people to receive the criminals and the trafficked children.

This is a major case; so many children have been abducted, and it's clear that these abducted children are not from ordinary families. Therefore, it's taken very seriously.
