Chapter 1000 Unhappy

Ning Jing and Fu Hongxing exchanged a glance and both frowned.

Fu Xiuhua also sensed something was wrong and wanted to say something, but her husband was lost in his memories, his face full of emotion.

Besides, she couldn't exactly pull her husband aside and say, "Something's not right with your parents," could she?

After all, it was their first meeting, and she didn't want anything to go wrong.

Thinking of this, Xiuhua bit her lower lip, put down what she was holding, hugged her daughter tightly, and looked toward the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Zhong Mingxue lowered his voice and said to his wife, "Hua Zi just got back, why are you giving her that look? She's already married to Hua Zi and has a child. Even if she's unwilling, it's a fact. Didn't Hua Zi tell you that in his letter before? Besides, her family is still here!"

Hearing her husband's words, Hong Chunjiao felt even more uncomfortable.

He muttered discontentedly, "Hua Zi was still immature when he went to the countryside, and that's when they got married. Now that he's back in the city, why are we still dragging her along?"

Don't you see how many families next door to us have divorced their wives from the countryside?

And look, when one person attains enlightenment, even his chickens and dogs ascend to heaven.

Before we even entered the city, she brought her elder brother and sister-in-law from her maternal family to our home.

Who knows what the future holds!

Hong Chunjiao peeked through the crack in the kitchen door at Ning Jing and Fu Hongxing in the living room, and then said unhappily.

She had witnessed firsthand the scoundrel nature of those country folk. A kind neighbor hadn't divorced the woman from the countryside and brought her back to live with him; the children there were both mischievous and resilient.

When people talked about it, the woman even went to their house and started yelling at them in their face.

Hong Chunjiao was afraid. She was afraid that Fu Xiuhua was also such a woman. She and Lao Zhong were both veteran teachers. Did they still have any face left?

When her son wrote to her before, saying that he had married a woman in the countryside and had a granddaughter, she wasn't very happy.

Now that I see this daughter-in-law, who even brought her elder brother and sister-in-law from her own family to our home, my initial displeasure has turned into a much stronger one.

What are they doing? Trying to come to the city and take advantage of the rich?

"Alright, their daughter married our son and is now back in the city. Maybe she's just coming over to get acquainted with the family. What else could it be?"

Don't make wild guesses and think the worst of perfectly good people.

Zhong Mingxue felt that the daughter-in-law's elder brother and sister-in-law had clear eyes and didn't seem like unreasonable people.

When her husband said that to her, Hong Chunjiao pouted, feeling unwilling, but she didn't say anything to express her dissatisfaction.

Seeing Lao Zhong take out a tea canister and a small bag of red dates from the cupboard, I immediately felt a pang of heartache.

“This is two ounces of good tea leaves and red dates that your son-in-law brought back for the New Year. It would be a waste to give them such good tea.”

Hearing his wife's words, Zhong Mingxue glared at her, then quickly brewed tea and red date syrup and brought them out.

"Dad, let me do it!"

Zhong Zihua put down the package and was looking around with a sigh when he turned around and saw Zhong Mingxue carrying a plate over. He quickly went forward to take it.

Zhong Mingxue didn't object and let him take over, but he also took the cup of jujube syrup.

"Everyone, have a cup of tea to warm yourselves up! Here, Xueqi, right? Grandpa will give you some sweet syrup."

The tea was for Xiuhua, Ningjing, and Fu Hongxing, while the jujube syrup was for Xueqi.

Xiuhua and the others quickly stood up, accepted the gift with both hands, and said thank you.
