Chapter 117 Gossip

After Tan Dahuan got married, she would often bring her husband back to stay with her.

They stayed for many days at a time, which Tan Dingguo found very distasteful.

Several years later, when Tan Xiaohuan was almost 8 years old, her family gave her the room to live in.

For this reason, Tan Dahuan disliked this younger sister very much.

In Tan Dahuan's mind, this was her family's boudoir, and it should be kept for her.

Besides, sometimes when the couple comes back, they have a place to sleep.

Now, there's nowhere to sleep.

It's such a long way to come, arriving so early in the morning, and then having to rush back after dark. It doesn't seem worth it at all.

So, after their family treated them this way every time they came, they started coming back less often.

Tan Dahuan knew that if he wanted to get something from his parents, he couldn't afford to offend them.

But that doesn't mean she can't take her anger out on her younger sister for taking over her room.

After Tan Xiaohuan moved in, she rearranged many things.

Although there weren't many nice things in the room, it didn't stop her from loving beauty.

For example, she covered the box next to her bed with a floral cloth and then put a bunch of wildflowers in a blue ceramic bottle.

Beside the wildflowers was a bamboo basket.

The basket contained scissors, thread ends, thimbles, and the like.

Besides these, there was also a half-finished shoe sole inside.

Tan Xiaohuan glanced at the shoe sole with disgust, then picked up the large pair of scissors and forcefully poked at the lid of the fruit can.

In no time, the original metal cover was riddled with dents.

Seeing the lid punctured, Tan Xiaohuan's eyes lit up.

I tilted my head back and drank from the perforated bottle cap, and the sweet juice inside immediately flooded my mouth.

It was so delicious that Tan Xiaohuan drank the juice in big gulps.

After she finished drinking the juice, she looked at the yellow peaches in the bottle, unable to eat them despite being able to see them, and her heart was filled with longing.

After thinking for a moment, I used scissors to cut the metal part, intending to pry open the bottle cap directly.

Unexpectedly, the bottle cap came loose immediately after air entered.

With just a little effort and a gentle twist, Tan Xiaohuan found that the bottle cap had come off.

Wang Dingxiang returned home with a hoe to get some water and saw her mother-in-law frowning and staring blankly in the kitchen for some unknown reason.

"Mom, what's wrong with you?"

Xing Lanhua only came to her senses when she heard the shout.

She sighed softly and said, "Nothing, why did you come back?"

"Qingzhou said he would do the rest of the work and asked me to come back and help my mother cook."

Wang Dingxiang put the hoe outside, scooped a ladle of water from the vat, and washed the mud off the hoe.

Then he scooped up another ladleful and drank it in large gulps.

The weather was nice today, but after working under the blazing sun all day, I'm exhausted and my mouth is dry.

My sister-in-law went to her parents' home and hasn't returned yet, while my sister-in-law is sleeping at home.

So, she could only endure it.

Qingzhou noticed that her lips were chapped and told her to come back and rest.

If my mother-in-law knew the reason, she would definitely feel uncomfortable.

Therefore, Wang Dingxiang only said that her husband asked her to come back and help her mother-in-law with chores.

Xing Lanhua listened but didn't pay much attention and nodded.

Thinking that there were still guests drinking in the living room, a small dish of peanuts was definitely not enough.

"Mom, have we had guests?"

By the way, I heard from the villagers that Ningjing's husband came back alive.

Wang Dingxiang was afraid her mother-in-law would call her gossipy, but she couldn't suppress her curiosity, so she whispered mysteriously in Xing Lanhua's ear.
