It was almost noon when the monkeys came running back.
Ning Jing and Xiu Hua were drying the cabbages that the monkey had brought over the night before in the middle of the yard.
Tie Dan and Xiu Chun were turning over the pit where they kept earthworms when they heard a knock on the door. Ning Jing stood up and opened it.
"Monkey, long time no see!"
Seeing the monkey carrying the bag, Ning Jing exclaimed in surprise.
"Sister-in-law, hehe."
The monkey scratched its head somewhat embarrassedly and called out to Ning Jing.
"Come in quickly, come in quickly. Hongxing just told me this morning that you sent over some cabbages last night."
And that's exactly right of him, making you run back in the middle of the night again.
I was originally thinking of asking him to invite you over so we could have a meal together!
"Your brother Hongxing just happened to get some spare ribs; I'll make braised pork ribs for you guys."
As Ning Jing spoke, she pulled the monkey into the yard.
Upon hearing Ning Jing's words, Tie Dan, who had been fiddling with earthworms, immediately stood up in surprise.
"Sister-in-law, are you making the braised pork ribs from yesterday?"
As he spoke, he couldn't help but lick his lower lip. He had never imagined that lean meat could be cooked so deliciously, even better than fatty meat.
Seeing his greedy little cat-like appearance, Ning Jing chuckled and nodded, saying, "That's right, you guys are just riding on Monkey Brother's coattails. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have done it."
When the monkey heard Ning Jing say this, it couldn't help but choke up, thinking about the treatment it had just received.
He sniffed, then forcefully raised his arm to wipe his eyes.
He then smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, these are things Brother Hongxing asked me to bring."
"I went there today, and they asked me to bring this back for Brother Hongxing."
When Ning Jing heard that the monkey said it was brought by Fu Hongxing, she was puzzled at first, but then her eyes lit up.
He hurriedly took the bag and looked inside.
Sure enough, it was malted milk powder meant for the twins.
Mention Cao Cao and he will cry and make a scene.
"Sister-in-law, I'll go in and see if she peed."
Xiuhua had just finished tidying up the cabbage when she quickly got up and went inside to check on the twins.
I reached out and touched their buttocks, only to find they were still dry.
"Stop touching it, it must be crying from hunger."
I had some rice cereal this morning, and it's all digested by now.
"Monkey, thank you so much! If you hadn't delivered this malted milk powder in time, my two children would probably have gone hungry."
Ning Jing took a can of malted milk powder out of the bag and handed it to Xiu Hua, asking her to make it.
She wondered if her twins had become too picky about their diet because of the formula she had been using. When she realized she didn't have much formula left, she wanted to replace it with rice cereal.
However, they would only drink a few sips at most, and then they would stop.
As the milk powder dwindled, Ning Jing felt anxious but helpless.
These few cans of malted milk powder that the monkey brought are a real lifesaver!
"Sister-in-law, you're too kind."
I just helped bring the things down here. Besides, Brother Hongxing paid for them, so there's no need to thank me!
By the way, are you taking the cabbages out to dry in preparation for pickling them?
When I was little, I often helped my mom pickle vegetables. Let me help you!
As the monkey spoke, he rolled up his sleeves, ready to help, but Ning Jing quickly stopped him.
“This Chinese cabbage needs to be sun-dried for two days first. Xiuhua and I have already spread it out. It will take another two days before it is actually pickled.”
Hearing the monkey mention her mother, she couldn't help but glance at Xiuhua.
Last time, because I sewed clothes for the monkey, he mentioned that she was like his own mother.
Xiuhua was unaware of what had happened last time. While she was preparing malted milk powder, she felt that her sister-in-law was looking at her strangely.
