"Promise me you won't get hurt again. I'll worry... and I'll be scared."
Ning Jing's hand, which was resting on his chest, tightened slightly, and her voice trembled slightly.
Fu Hongxing's heart tightened, he tightened his embrace, and then nodded forcefully.
"Well, I promise you."
Ning Jing was being held so tightly that she could hardly breathe.
Moreover, she could clearly feel a foreign object rubbing against her thigh.
Ning Jing suddenly remembered Fu Hongxing mentioning that he had returned home injured. At the time, she thought... it was because of that injury.
After all, when he first returned, Fu Hongxing had no broken arms or legs.
Thinking of this, I blurted out, "Are you alright down there?"
Fu Hongxing had already been unable to control his restless heart, and his body reflected his thoughts more honestly than his mind.
Fu Hongxing was stunned when he heard Ning Jing's sudden, inexplicable, and nonsensical remark.
Confused, he asked in return, "What do you mean, 'nothing's wrong down there'?"
He frowned; he only had this one wound on his chest!
Then he felt Ning Jing shift her body uncomfortably, her thigh rubbing against that spot, which instantly ignited his fire.
After blurting it out, Ning Jing realized what she had said and her face turned bright red.
Originally, I was just a little short of breath, but now I feel hot all over and almost suffocating. I couldn't help but move my stiff body.
I forced myself to turn my head away, turning my face to the side, not daring to look at his chest.
He said in a low voice, his face flushed, "Didn't you say before that you would change careers because you were injured? If not, where were you injured?"
Upon hearing Ning Jing's question, Fu Hongxing finally realized what Ning Jing meant next.
He was both angry and annoyed. His brother looked so energetic; did he really look injured?
However, thinking of her own injuries, she loosened her grip on Ning Jing's hand, which had been tightly embracing her, and remained silent for a long time.
When Ning Jing saw that Fu Hongxing didn't respond to her question for a long time, she became curious. Taking advantage of his loosening of his grip, she placed her hands on his chest, making the distance between them slightly greater.
Then he looked up and stared at Fu Hongxing.
However, the kerosene lamp was located to Fu Hongxing's right rear, and could only vaguely illuminate his cheek, giving him a hazy and indistinct appearance.
After a moment of silence, Fu Hongxing reached out and grasped Ning Jing's hand, which was resting on his chest, and then lifted it up.
He placed Ning Jing's hand on his head, then tilted his head slightly so that Ning Jing's fingers could touch the top of his head.
"Did you touch it? There's a bullet here."
Ning Jing was somewhat puzzled by his actions.
However, instead of withdrawing her hand, she slowly moved her fingers along with Fu Hongxing's hand as he moved.
She heard Fu Hongxing say those words when she touched that slightly uneven spot.
Ning Jing's eyes suddenly widened, and the fingers that touched the wound trembled.
Is there a bullet in Fu Hongxing's head?
This realization, like a bomb, blew Ning Jing away, leaving her dizzy and her ears filled with a buzzing sound.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here. I'm fine, Ningjing. I'm alright. The doctor said I'm fine too. I'm standing right in front of you!"
