Chapter 33: Delivering Food

Aside from those two, the other strip of special cold medicine was quite eye-catching.

Just like the cold medicine she used to take, except for the aluminum blister pack inside the outer box, there were no markings on it, only two lines of small print stating: "For colds and fevers, take one pill at a time, twice a day."

Ning Jing looked around and saw that in the kitchen, there was only a rice jar, a wooden shelf, and a fire pit with some kindling.

In this clean surrounding area, there was simply nowhere for Ning Jing to hide anything.

"Fuqiang, can we make a deal? Can we exchange this canned milk powder for the bagged kind?"

If other things are hidden and discovered, at least you can make up an excuse by saying you borrowed them from someone else.

But the material used for these milk powder cans is something you won't find in this rural area.

Unless all those children are mentally challenged, Ning Jing would have no way of explaining herself if she were found out.

In this house where everything was clearly visible, Ning Jing had no confidence that the children wouldn't notice anything amiss.

The system remained silent for a while. Just when Ning Jing thought it was ignoring her again, a semi-transparent sealed bag suddenly appeared at her feet.

Ning Jing held the sealed bag and remained silent for a long time.

Well, it's better than a jar.

At worst, you can pour the milk powder from the can into a resealable bag, then dig a hole and bury the can.

Anyway, there are no markings on it, so even if it gets dug up later, Ning Jing can just say she didn't know anything about it.

Ning Jing first filled the milk powder cans and placed them in the rice jar, the only place in the kitchen where she could hide things, and then placed the bag of black flour on top of the sealed bag.

He hid the cold medicine directly in the pocket of his patched clothes.

Just as she had hidden these things and was holding the milk powder can in her hand, trying to figure out how to take it out and dispose of it,

The door she had closed was suddenly knocked on!

"Sister-in-law, someone is looking for you outside."

A soft sound came from outside the door.

After knocking on the door and speaking, Xiuchun couldn't help but twist her fingers and lower her head.

When Ning Jing heard this unfamiliar voice, it took her a while to remember that besides Xiu Hua and Siya, there was another little girl with a very low profile who hadn't spoken to her yet.

That person outside the door now should be the little girl!

However, it was getting dark, who would come looking for her?

Ning Jing hurriedly stuffed the milk powder can under the firewood to cover it up, and then opened the door.

When Xiuchun saw Ningjing come out, she couldn't help but shrank her shoulders, almost burying her head in her chest.

Ning Jing looked at the little girl with a slight toothache. She wasn't a tiger, and this girl's personality was too introverted.

"Alright, sister-in-law understands, you can go back to your room now!"

Ning Jing spoke to Xiu Chun, slowing down her speech and making her voice sound gentler.

When Xiuchun heard Ningjing say that, she couldn't help but raise her head and glance at Ningjing. Then she quickly looked away, nodded, and turned to run away.

Well, maybe I am a tiger, otherwise why would that little girl be so afraid of me?

Ning Jing touched her nose and walked helplessly to the courtyard gate to open it.

There were two men pushing a wheelbarrow with two sacks of things on either side.

"Sister-in-law, my father asked me to deliver these 100 jin of sweet potatoes."

He said the rest would be delivered after the autumn harvest.

As for the rest, come to my house tomorrow and find my mother.

Tan Qingzhou didn't go into the courtyard; he just stood at the gate, pointed to the two sacks of sweet potatoes on the wheelbarrow, and said to Ning Jing.
