Ning Jing was unaware of what Wang Guihua was worried about, since the twins were currently drinking milk powder, which was much more nutritious than rice or oil.
Hearing Ning Jing say that, Wang Guihua nodded.
"Okay, I'll come and wake you up tomorrow morning."
But in his heart he was thinking that the two old hens at home had laid almost a basketful of eggs.
You could go to the supply and marketing cooperative in town to exchange for some needles and thread.
The next morning, when Wang Guihua came to knock on Ning Jing's door, it was still dark.
Hearing the knocking, Ning Jing hurriedly got up, opened the door to let Wang Guihua in first, and then quickly rinsed her mouth and washed her face.
There was no toothbrush or toothpaste at home, so for the past few days, Ning Jing has been rubbing her teeth with her fingers dipped in some coarse salt from the kitchen, and then rinsing her mouth.
Although it's not something I'm used to and it's a bit uncomfortable, it's still better than doing nothing.
After everything was done, before leaving, Ning Jing picked a few sweet potatoes from the pot and put them in the basket, covering them with a faded towel.
There were also 50 jin of rice, which Wang Guihua had asked her son to put on a wheelbarrow.
Besides the 50 jin of rice from Ning Jing's family, the wheelbarrow also carried some things from Zhao's family.
These are all intended to be taken to town to be sold.
If you're lucky, you might run into those workers and exchange some tickets.
Like Ning Jing, Wang Guihua also carried a basket on her arm.
Inside are the eggs she's saved up over the past two months.
Wang Guihua gestured for Ning Jing to sit on either side of the wheelbarrow, with her bottom halfway up, and then urged Zhao Dazhu to hurry up and set off.
Ning Jing was a little confused at first, and sat diagonally on the wheelbarrow following Wang Guihua's posture.
After Zhao Dazhu responded, he immediately lifted the handle, and the wheelbarrow began to roll forward.
Startled, Ning Jing first tightened her grip on the sack containing the rice.
She then discovered that Zhao Dazhu was pushing the cart steadily and quickly, and it wouldn't shake anyone off at all.
"Don't worry, your brother Dazhu is the best pusher in the whole village. He won't shake you off the ground."
"Come on, Ningjing, have an egg."
Once they reached the village entrance, Wang Guihua took two eggs out of her pocket and stuffed them directly into Ning Jing's hand.
Another one bumped into the wooden frame of the wheelbarrow.
With a "crack," Wang Guihua deftly peeled the eggshell clean.
Then he stood up and handed it to Zhao Dazhu.
Seeing this, Zhao Dazhu kept his hands still and his feet moving without stopping. He simply bent down, opened his mouth, and took a small bite of the peeled egg.
After chewing a few times, he said, "It's too dry, I don't like it, you eat it!"
Wang Guihua glared at him but said nothing, taking small bites of the remaining egg.
Ning Jing held the still-warm egg in her hand, looking at the two of them with a hint of envy.
"Sister-in-law Guihua, you and Brother Dazhu have such a good relationship."
Upon hearing Ning Jing's words, a blush appeared on Wang Guihua's originally slightly yellow face.
He glared at Zhao Dazhu, then said to Ning Jing apologetically, "What? Your brother Dazhu doesn't like it."
After saying that, he realized that his reasoning was far-fetched.
"Hurry up and eat yours, it won't taste good if it gets cold."
Wang Guihua blushed and said to Ning Jing.
Ning Jing laughed when she heard this.
I picked up the egg, gently tapped it, and then peeled it open, revealing the snow-white egg white. I took a bite and put it in my mouth.
It smells so good!
