Chapter 97: Clarity

Also, why did she say he wasn't dead yet?

Fu Hongxing narrowed his eyes, but he noticed out of the corner of his eye that she was standing in an unnatural posture.

He stepped forward, took Ning Jing's arm, and said, "I'll carry you to the clinic to get your leg checked!"

After saying that, he changed the backpack on his back to hang it on his chest, then turned around and squatted down in front of her.

Looking at the broad back in front of her, Ning Jing swallowed hard.

"This, we don't need it!"

Fu Hongxing tilted his head slightly, revealing his profile.

Even so, Ning Jing could see that his brows were slightly furrowed.

"Come up."

His words compelled people to obey.

When Ning Jing came to her senses, she was already lying on Fu Hongxing's back.

She felt as if fire was burning at the thighs that Fu Hongxing was supporting and at the spot where her chest was pressed against his back.

What are you doing in town so early?

Fu Hongxing asked calmly.

"Oh? Oh, we're out of kerosene. I'll go buy some."

Upon hearing Fu Hongxing's question, Ning Jing cleared her throat, averted her gaze from him, and replied.

Why were you so surprised when you saw me?

Fu Hongxing nodded, then asked another question.

"Didn't we get news that you gloriously sacrificed your life?"

Director Jia came to her with recruitment quotas from the textile factory, so it couldn't possibly be fake, right?

If Fuqiang hadn't confirmed with her earlier that this was indeed Fu Hongxing, Ning Jing wouldn't have believed it so easily.

"The message? Who brought it?"

Fu Hongxing frowned.

While in the army, he never wrote a letter except to send money home.

Could it be that when I went into the operating room, I sent someone to deliver a message, but they delivered it to the wrong person?

Thinking of Zhou Bingqian, his brows furrowed even more deeply.

"The village chief and your uncle both said you sacrificed your life. The textile factory in the county even brought job openings, saying it was compensation for your family."

"Recruitment quotas?"

Fu Hongxing became increasingly certain that this was something no one in the military could have done.

Even if he were to sacrifice his life, at most he would just provide a monthly allowance to his family.

It is now extremely difficult for rural farmers to migrate to cities to work.

Without some power, you simply couldn't do something like this.

Seeing Fu Hongxing's puzzled look, Ning Jing suddenly remembered that if this person was not dead, would the recruitment quota still be valid?

"Hey Fu Hongxing, I sold the recruitment quota. Will that be okay?"

Fu Hongxing was still considering things when she heard Ning Jing's hesitant and timid question.

It finally looks a bit like it used to be.

"Don't worry, I'm here, everything will be fine."

After a moment of silence, Fu Hongxing replied.

This was originally a phrase that Ning Jing loved to say to Xiu Hua and the others.

When Ning Jing heard Fu Hongxing say those words, she was taken aback.

Fu Hongxing walked quickly and arrived in town in no time.

It was the same old doctor who glanced at the swollen ankle and took out a bottle of safflower oil and mercurochrome from the glass cabinet next to him.

"Apply mercurochrome to the broken skin, and rub safflower oil on the red and swollen areas. Don't rub too hard these few days."

When he finished speaking, he glanced at Fu Hongxing and Ning Jing.

Then, in a flash, he filled out a form and handed it directly to Fu Hongxing.

Without saying a word, Fu Hongxing turned around and went to pay the money.

Seeing Fu Hongxing leave, Ning Jing suddenly remembered how she could get away and give the wheat and soap to Niu Jinju.
