Chapter 999 remains unchanged.

Two elderly people with graying temples were sitting, one bending over to light the stove, and the other washing rice.

Upon hearing the voice, they were all stunned for a moment, then looked up at the doorway together.

"Hua...Hua Zi...!?"

"My son, you've finally returned!"

When Hong Chunjiao saw her son's face, tears streamed down her face. The basin she was holding fell to the ground with a clatter, and she rushed towards Zhong Zihua.

She held her son and wept bitterly.

Seeing the mother and son embracing and crying, Zhong Mingxue straightened up and said repeatedly, "It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back."

Xiuhua stood behind Zhong Zihua, while Ning Jing held Zhong Xueqi and Fu Hongxing behind her, silently watching the family without saying a word.

Zhong Zihua cried for a while before raising his red eyes, hurriedly wiping away the tears from the corners of his eyes, stepping aside, and introducing his parents: "Dad, Mom, this is Xiuhua, Xiuhua, these are my parents, and this is your granddaughter Xueqi. Xueqi, come over here and call Grandpa and Grandma."

Upon hearing her husband's introduction, Xiuhua smiled and called out, "Dad, Mom."

The two elderly people glanced at her but didn't say anything; their eyes, however, fell on the child Ning Jing was holding.

Ning Jing smiled and nodded to Hong Chunjiao and Zhong Mingxue, who were looking over. Then she put Zhong Xueqi, whom she had been holding, on the ground and gently pushed her forward, signaling her to call for help.

After Xueqi got off the train at the station, she was held by Ning Jing and rested until now, and has recovered a little.

When her father told her to greet them, she obediently called out, "Grandpa, Grandma."

However, Hong Chunjiao's expression wasn't good when she heard her shout. She nodded haphazardly, which was considered an agreement.

Zhong Mingxue, however, looked at Zhong Xueqi, who resembled his son when he was a child, and finally took two steps forward, wanting to hug his granddaughter whom he had never seen since birth.

Unexpectedly, Hong Chunjiao grabbed his forward-facing body.

He turned his head and looked at Ning Jing and Fu Hongxing, who were standing at the back, with a scrutinizing expression.

Especially considering the way Fu Hongxing was carrying so many bags, he looked like someone fleeing famine.

"Hua Zi, who are these two?"

Hearing his mother's question, Zhong Zihua turned around and quickly introduced, "Mom, this is Xiuhua's older brother and sister-in-law. They came to Taipei with us."

Ning Jing smiled slightly and, together with Fu Hongxing beside her, greeted Zhong Mingxue and his wife, saying, "Hello, Uncle and Aunt."

Zhong Mingxue quickly agreed, while Hong Chunjiao pursed her lips and nodded stiffly.

She then turned around and helped Zhong Zihua unload the package from his back.

She said with concern, "Why are you carrying such a heavy thing? Put it down quickly and rest first."

Zhong Mingxue was a little embarrassed by his wife's previous actions. Hearing this, he quickly said to Fu Hongxing and the others, "Yes, yes, you should unload your luggage first. You must be tired after coming all this way. Take a rest and I'll make you some tea."

When his wife heard him say he wanted to make tea, she looked up as if to say something, but Zhong Mingxue grabbed her arm and pulled her into the kitchen next door.

Unfortunately, the house is only about twenty square meters in size. After dividing it into two rooms and a kitchen, the living room is tiny, barely big enough to fit a dining table.

Zhong Zihua didn't notice his parents' strange behavior. He just excitedly touched the dining table, which was exactly the same as when he left. Nothing in the house had changed.
