Chapter 10 I will reward you

For some reason, Yun Duo felt a little disappointed.

Even though his face was dirty, you could tell he was an incredibly beautiful child. But when he opened his mouth and spoke, he was as cold as if someone owed him a million dollars.

Is it really necessary?

Why can't you just be a good child?

Yun Duo sighed silently in her heart, deliberately put on a cold face, and said indifferently, "Well... sort of, you're welcome."

As he spoke, he broke off another piece of honeycomb and put it in his mouth to chew.

Hmm... I didn't feel it at first, but now it's getting a bit greasy... and I'm thirsty, I want to drink water.

Yun Duo licked her palate with her tongue, trying to produce some saliva so she could swallow it.

"I wasn't planning on thanking you anyway; it was only right that you saved me."

The child's indifferent voice rang in Yunduo's ears again, and what he said was truly unpleasant.

Yun Duo unconsciously hummed twice, but before she could speak, the boy's cold voice rang out again: "However, I will reward you. Tell me, what do you want?"

A reward? Aren't you afraid of biting off more than you can chew? This kid must be a spoiled brat from a rich family. I wonder why he ran into this place and even fainted from hunger. Could it be that he ran away from home?

Possibly.

Tsk tsk... You ran away from home without taking anything with you, and ended up starving yourself. What do you have to offer others as a 'reward'?

Yun Duo suddenly had a mischievous thought. She originally wanted to say she wanted lots and lots of money, but when she turned around and saw the child looking at her seriously without any arrogance, the words that came out were "I want to drink water".

Seemingly surprised by Yun Duo's words, the child paused for a moment, then found the military water bottle that he had previously pressed under his body and handed it to Yun Duo.

Yun Duo was surprised that the child would actually hand her a water bottle. It looked quite similar to the military water bottles she had seen in her previous life, only the color was different.

"Thank you." Yun Duo took the water bottle and instinctively thanked her. She unscrewed the cap to drink... but there wasn't a drop of water left in the bottle.

Yun Duo shook the water bottle twice helplessly, handed it back to the child, and said, "It's gone."

"I know where to find them, come with me." The child seemed a little embarrassed, and even his tone wasn't as cold as before. In fact, he seemed more adorable.

Most people like pretty and cute children, and Yun Duo was no exception. However… she couldn't go with the child to find water; she had to leave this place quickly before the original owner's parents discovered her. She had to go as far as she could.

"No need." Yun Duo shook her head regretfully, broke off a large piece of honeycomb from her hand, handed it to the child, and said, "I have to go now, you can have this." She paused, then added, "You should go home soon, don't let your family worry."

Just by looking at the child's chubby appearance, one could tell that the child's life was many times happier than that of the original owner. Running away from home was probably just a tantrum. Yun Duo couldn't help but offer a word of advice.

To everyone's surprise, the child stubbornly blurted out, "They won't worry about me."

Looking at the child's stubborn yet aggrieved face, Yun Duo felt inexplicably soft-hearted and sad.

Of course, I felt soft-hearted because of the child in front of me, but my heartache... was because of the original owner of this body.

"At least, they won't take it for granted that they'll push you into a fire pit," Yun Duo murmured to herself.
