Chapter 123 Decision

"That must be it, otherwise why would those bees fly to our house on their own?" Yun Dazheng said with a smile.

Yun Duo knew, of course, that what her "grandmother" said was the "truth" of the matter, but she still tilted her head, pretended to think for a moment, and then said, "Grandpa, Grandma, I think we can wait a couple of days and see if those bees will fly away again. If they don't fly away, then it should be them."

Yun Dazheng nodded and said, "Alright, let's observe for a couple of days first." Getting excited now seemed a bit premature. Thinking this, he couldn't help but remind Yun Duo, "Duo'er, let's make this clear: if... Grandpa means if, if the bees fly away, you can't cry, understand?"

"I know, I know." Yun Duo nodded quickly and looked at Yun Dazheng, saying, "Grandpa, don't worry, I'm not a three-year-old child, I won't cry easily." But in her heart, she was thinking that with Xiao Jiu around, even if someone chased the bees away, they wouldn't be chased away.

Yun Dazheng nodded with a smile and said, "Okay, okay, then Grandpa can rest assured." He paused and then said, "But Duo'er, you should go and help your grandma pick vegetables. Grandpa will go to the back to pick mushrooms."

"Alright." Yun Duo nodded, knowing that the bees wouldn't sting the old man, and agreed, but then said, "But Grandpa, can you promise me something?"

Yun Dazheng didn't immediately agree to Yun Duo's request. Instead, he looked at Yun Duo and said in a coaxing tone, "What is it? Why don't you tell Grandpa first?"

Yun Duo blinked, looking at Yun Dazheng with a pleading expression, and whispered, "Grandpa, if the bees don't run away, can we not sell this beehive?" Then, she quickly explained, "Duo'er doesn't want candy. Duo'er promised Lu Jiajia that if we found another beehive, she would give her honey. Besides, with so many bees coming, they can't carry any honey. Shouldn't we feed them some candy first?"

The more he explained, the more Yun Dazheng saw him as someone who wanted candy.

Yun Dazheng had a soft heart. What child doesn't love candy? Even if Duo'er was sensible, she was still just a child. Besides... she wasn't wrong; with so many bees, newcomers needed to be fed some candy first, right?

He remembered that those beekeepers used to feed bees.

If a bee originally didn't want to leave, but then flew away because there was no food, wouldn't that be a loss?

With that thought in mind, Yun Dazheng made a decision: "Alright, regardless of whether the bees will fly away or not, we won't sell the honey. We'll keep it for ourselves. After the bees have all gone into the hive, Grandpa will break off a piece of honeycomb and put it in the hive so that the bees won't go hungry and fly away again."

"That's great!" Yun Duo clapped her hands and said with a happy expression.

It wasn't that she was really craving that little bit of honey, but rather that honey is truly a very nourishing food for elderly people and children with weak constitutions. Not only did she need it, but the old man and woman did too.

Hearing the old man and his granddaughter decide in just a few words that they would keep the beehive for themselves, the old woman felt a pang of heartache. She was now used to being frugal and meticulous, always worried about not having enough money, fearing that if something happened, the two of them, old and young, would be helpless.
