"Grandpa, I want to show you something. Let's go back inside," Yun Duo said cautiously, pulling on Yun Dazheng's hand.
Yun Dazheng guessed that Yun Duo was probably going to tell him some secrets, and asked, "Is it something that can't be seen by others?" as he walked towards the main room.
Yun Duo didn't reply to Yun Dazheng. Instead, she pulled him to sit on the bamboo chair and moved a small stool to sit next to him. Then she said, "It's very small. People can't see it clearly from a distance. I just wanted to tell Grandpa how we met it so that he wouldn't be frightened when he saw it and then hit it."
"Is it because of this that you were sure our family could produce royal jelly?" Yun Dazheng asked first.
“Yes.” Yun Duo nodded vigorously and said, “It’s not just that, our family is able to keep bees because of it.”
Upon hearing this, Yun Dazheng said, "That's our family's God of Wealth. How could we possibly hit him? Don't worry, Grandpa won't hit him."
"Hmm." Yun Duo nodded again, thought for a moment, and then said, "However, Grandpa has to promise Duo'er that no matter what Duo'er says later, you can't get angry."
"Okay, Grandpa won't be angry." Yun Dazheng nodded, guessing that Yun Duo had probably lied to him before to keep the secret and was afraid that he would be angry with her, so she was giving him a heads-up in advance. Therefore, he readily agreed.
Yun Duo was relieved and deliberately used nonsensical language, half-truth and half-lies, to tell the story of Xiao Jiu's origins.
"Grandpa, do you remember the day I was to be switched with Yang Erwa? I ran away at night, but I was caught and brought back?" Yun Duo said, looking at Yun Dazheng.
Yun Dazheng nodded. He would never forget what happened that day.
“That night, after I ran out of the woodshed, I was so hungry that I could barely walk. I didn’t dare to look for food in the village for fear of being discovered and caught. So I kept running up the hill into the woods. I remembered that I had seen a beehive when I was collecting firewood before, so I thought I would go find it and get some honey to eat.”
"And it turned out I actually found that place."
"Oh, right, I met Little Noble near that beehive. He had fainted, and I was terrified, thinking I'd run into a dead person. Luckily he was still alive, or I would have been scared to death."
