Starting from the second lesson, teachers began to teach formally.
First-grade classes were utterly boring. Even when the teachers were incredibly lively and engaging, to Yun Duo, they sounded like lullabies. If Teacher Zhou hadn't called her to sit in the front, Yun Duo would have already started daydreaming.
She couldn't let her mind wander, and the teacher's words were like a lullaby. Even if Yunduo tried her best, she couldn't help but feel sleepy, her head nodding little by little, almost falling asleep.
The second period was also math class, and Mr. Zhou knew Yun Duo's "level." Although he didn't know if she recognized various shapes, Mr. Zhou knew that, at least in terms of arithmetic, Yun Duo's level had actually exceeded the first-grade curriculum. Therefore, he could understand Yun Duo's "drowsiness." He would just glance at her from time to time as a warning, but otherwise, he didn't make things difficult for her.
However, the third period Chinese class was taught by a different teacher.
The Chinese teacher's surname was Wu, and his given name was Wu Zhiyuan. He was a "veteran" teacher in his forties. His teaching level was only average, but he was a senior teacher. He originally thought that, according to seniority, he should be the homeroom teacher for this first grade. However, a teacher named Zhou was parachuted in. It was said that he was a top student who had studied at a teacher's college. Not only did he come to teach the first grade, but he also "stole" his position as the homeroom teacher. This made Teacher Wu very uncomfortable.
While this discomfort didn't lead him to nitpick or find fault, it did make him less patient during class.
Therefore, seeing that Yun Duo was drowsy, he slammed the book he was holding onto the lecture hall, pointed at Yun Duo, and shouted, "That female student, stand up!"
There was only one girl in the whole class, and Yun Duo naturally knew he was calling her. She immediately jolted awake, even waking up from her drowsiness. Then, after regaining her composure, she calmly stood up amidst the mocking or puzzled gazes of her classmates.
Because Yun Duo's clothes were extremely ordinary, and although they were relatively new, the material was cheap, Teacher Wu guessed that her family was probably not well-off. After Yun Duo stood up, Teacher Wu pointed at her and scolded, "Studying is not easy, and it's even more difficult for you girls to have the opportunity to study."
"Go all over the school and see how many girls have the opportunity to go to school?"
"I'm telling you, there's only one, just you!"
"Such an opportunity, and you don't even know how to cherish it? You're truly... ungrateful for your good fortune!"
"I won't even talk about how hard it is for me as a teacher to teach in the classroom. Just talk about your parents. They work hard to earn money and send you to school, not so you can just coast along and doze off. They want you to study and learn knowledge. How can you be so irresponsible to your parents, do you do them a favor by falling asleep as soon as you start a class?"
Yun Duo initially thought that Mr. Wu, with his scholarly demeanor, would ostracize her for being a girl, just like the other students in the class, when he asked her to stand up. Little did she know, Mr. Wu would say something so unexpected… truly making her look at him with new respect.
Whatever the reason, now that she's a student, she should have a proper attitude towards learning. As for the fact that she understands everything the teacher says... Teacher Wu doesn't know either...
Thinking it over, Yun Duo straightened her attitude, bowed earnestly to Teacher Wu, and said, "I'm sorry, teacher, I was wrong."
