Yun Da gave a blank "hmm" and glanced at Yun Youliang's thin clothes, calling out "Yun Duo".
"Duo'er, come here for a moment."
"What's wrong, Grandpa?" Yun Duo ran up to Yun Dazheng and asked him.
"Go and get the old cotton-padded coats that your grandma and I don't want anymore. They're the ones I told you to throw away, but you forgot to," Yun Dazheng said to Yun Duo.
"Huh? Oh, okay, Grandpa, I'll go right away." Yun Duo hesitated for a moment, then quickly realized what was going on.
In fact, Yun Dazheng didn't have any unwanted cotton-padded clothes.
They were used to being poor, and even though Yun Duo bought them two sets of cotton-padded clothes each this year, they couldn't bear to throw away their old, worn-out cotton-padded clothes from previous years. Last time Yun Duo said she wanted to throw them away, they were reluctant, saying they could wear them again if needed. Now they were deliberately saying they wanted to throw them away, but it was just a case of being soft-hearted but stubborn.
"Dad..." Yun Youliang called out softly again.
Yun Dazheng thought Yun Youliang was moved, so he immediately put on a stern face and deliberately made a cold, expressionless face, saying, "Don't overthink it. I'm not doing this for you, but only for the sake of my two grandsons."
"And your wife, she's from another family, she married into the Yun family, whether it's good or bad, we can't just stand by and watch her freeze."
Yun Youliang nodded and said, "Yes, Dad, thank you..." He paused, then continued, "You are Shuisheng and Yusheng's grandfather, so you must care about them. Look... our house is in such a state that it's uninhabitable. Even if we want to rebuild it, we need to clear all this stuff off before we can start..."
“Our family are outsiders, we don’t have the same surname in this village. If we really ask the villagers to help clean this up, not to mention the wages, we should at least feed them three meals a day…”
"Now all the food and other things at home are buried under the rubble... Dad, you see, this is really difficult to deal with."
"So, after thinking about it, I feel that I still need to ask for your help."
"You want my help?" Yun Dazheng sneered, looking at Yun Youliang and saying, "I can't help you. My old arms and legs are too weak to do this. I just helped drag some straw and rafters and such, and my back is already giving out."
"No, no, how could we let you work? You've misunderstood..." Yun Youliang quickly shook his head. "It's like this, I was thinking that when we renovated the old house, we built several rooms. Now, only you, my mother, and Yunduo live there. There's not enough room for everyone, so the extra rooms are just empty."
"Think about it, instead of letting the house sit empty and gather dust, why not... lend it to us so we can move in for a few days? What do you say?"
"Stay for a few days?" Yun Dazheng originally thought that even if Yun Youliang wanted to bring this up, he wouldn't do it so quickly. At least... he would have to play the emotional card first, right? Who would have thought that Yun Youliang would bring it up directly right away, which made him a little incredulous.
"Hmm." Yun Youliang nodded and looked at Yun Dazheng with a slightly ingratiating tone, saying, "It's just for a few days. Don't worry, we'll move out once we've renovated the new house."
“Heh…” Yun Dazheng sneered and looked at Yun Youliang, saying, “You’re dreaming.”
