Chapter 7 Hope for Escape

"Uh...hehe..." Ant Bee Xiao Jiu seemed stunned. After a moment, she chuckled awkwardly and said, "It seems...it really can't."

"Tch..." Yun Duo, who had initially held a sliver of hope for Xiao Jiu, was utterly speechless upon hearing its words. Although she didn't actually intend for the original owner's scumbag father, mother, and brothers to die, she wouldn't willingly walk into the fire pit if she couldn't escape on her own. Letting the culprits die was better than letting herself jump into the fire pit and suffer torture and abuse.

So, I originally thought that ants and bees could be a way to survive.

What a pity... a false hope.

Yun Duo's face revealed an undisguised disappointment.

Seeing Yunduo's state, Xiao Jiu became anxious and quickly flew to Yunduo's side, saying, "But Master, although Xiao Jiu can't kill people by stinging them herself, Xiao Jiu can control the nearby wasps to sting them. One or two stings might not kill them, but one or two swarms should be enough, right?"

Hearing Xiao Jiu's words, Yun Duo's eyes lit up, and she looked at Xiao Jiu and asked, "Are you that amazing?"

Xiao Jiu was overjoyed. It flapped its wings and flew around twice, saying with a hint of pride, "Of course! Xiao Jiu is an ant-wasp, capable of controlling all ants and wasps."

Hearing that it could control ants, Yun Duo's eyes brightened even more, and her heart felt much lighter. Looking at Xiao Jiu, she asked expectantly, "Then can you control termites? Termites that specialize in gnawing on wood?"

"Of course they can!" Xiao Jiu answered without hesitation, then added, "However, they're a bit dumber than ants. They're a bit harder to control and can't do anything too complicated."

"It's not complicated, it's not complicated at all, it's just something they do on their own." Yun Duo said with a smile, and then asked, "By the way, Xiao Jiu, do you know where there are termites?"

"Of course I know." Seeing that she could help Yun Duo, Xiao Jiu was even happier and said proudly, "Xiao Jiu can sense all the ants and bees within a radius of one thousand meters."

"Little Jiu is amazing." Hearing this, Yun Duo couldn't help but praise Little Jiu. With the hope of escape so close, she felt a surge of joy. She completely forgot that this was a strange world, and her only knowledge of it came from the original owner's pitifully limited memories. She also forgot that her current body belonged to an eight-year-old child, and a pitifully weak one at that. Without proper care, she might not even live to adulthood.

It's possible that they didn't forget, but simply couldn't attend to it at the moment, as they had to get through this immediate hurdle first.

There's always a way out, and things will work themselves out.

Hearing Yunduo praise her, Xiao Jiu practically floated away, as if she could fly and hover in the air without flapping her wings. She then added, "There are termites in this house. Xiao Jiu can summon them. Would Master like to take a look?"

"Okay, okay." Yun Duo nodded, her eyes shining.

Xiao Jiu didn't make any move, but in a short while, a group of termites crawled to the front of Yun Duo and formed a large circle in front of her.

"Great, great!" Yun Duo was initially a little skeptical of Xiao Jiu's words, but now that she saw it had indeed summoned the termites, she was so excited that she kept praising it. She even reached out and touched Xiao Jiu.

Although it was only a brief, fleeting touch, like a dragonfly skimming the water, Xiao Jiu was so excited that she tumbled in mid-air and almost fell to the ground.

This isn't just a simple touch; it represents the owner's trust in it!

That's great!

Xiao Jiu felt more motivated.
