The day after Tan Jian received the letter of introduction, he left Beian Village in an oxcart, accompanied by Feng Niaoniao, Yun Yi, Liu Yuan, and Mu Tingting.
Almost everyone was carrying large and small bags. Feng Niaoniao, Yun Yi, and Liu Yuan had already discussed packing up their things and sending them home, planning to transfer their household registrations after the New Year.
As Liu Yuan watched the receding Beian Village, she whispered in Feng Niao Niao's ear, "That brat Qian Duoduo, she didn't even come to see me off when I went home!"
Looking at the still pitch-black western horizon, Feng Niaoniao said, "That girl is probably still fast asleep!"
Liu Yuan shuddered: "The winters in Northeast China are really cold!"
Feng Niao Niao laughed: "I thought you were used to it!"
Liu Yuan chuckled twice, looked at the distant horizon, and said in a light tone, "Actually, these past few years here have been tough and tiring, but I'm lucky to have met you all!"
Feng Niao Niao followed her and looked up at the horizon: "Every experience is destined to be precious. Perhaps many years later we will meet again and recall the time we studied together."
Liu Yuan chuckled, took a slip of paper from her hand, and handed it to Feng Niaoniao: "This is my home address. My school is in the same city as my home. Write to me and leave your address so we can keep in touch."
Feng Niaoniao reached out and took it: "Okay!"
Liu Yuan's somewhat annoyed voice came through: "How could I be so stupid? Why didn't I think to leave an address for that girl, Duo Duo!"
Feng Niaoniao looked at Liu Yuan, who was patting his head, and said with a smile, "Stop patting him. He's not smart to begin with. If you keep patting him, he'll become even dumber!"
Liu Yuan turned her head to the side angrily, and a single crystal tear slid down her cheek!
