The next morning, Qian Duoduo followed Qian Sheng to Yuanbao Village. Qian Duoduo thought they were going to her uncle's house, so she specially 'smuggled' some things from her space and put them in a triangular bag. Qian Sheng naturally couldn't bear to see his old maid suffer, so he carried these things on his back.
Qian Duoduo followed behind Qian Sheng, watching his figure. She thought about how, when she was little, she would go to her uncle's house with her father. At that time, she felt that her father was so tall. But as she grew up, she was now taller than most of the girls her age in the village, reaching 167 cm. This made Qian Duoduo very happy.
Seeing Qian Sheng, who was a head taller than him, Qian Duoduo stepped forward and said, "Dad, let me carry you for a while!"
Qian Sheng said without turning his head, "Do you really need this much? Let's hurry up and go, we're almost at Yuanbao Village! Your grandparents will definitely love your pretty little sweater!"
Qian Duoduo smiled. It turned out that he didn't want to carry the clothes himself because he was afraid of getting them dirty. At that moment, Qian Duoduo was touched by Qian Sheng's fatherly love for him!
Following the direction Qian Sheng pointed, Qian Duoduo saw a small village come into view. It was the same familiar village. She asked, "Dad, how's the land reform going in our village?"
Qian Sheng said with a smile, "It's all done. You didn't see it, but now everyone who can work in the fields is working. In the past, some families were reluctant to work in the fields during the autumn harvest, but now they are all busy in the fields. This is a good sign!"
Qian Duoduo said with a smile, "It will be even better when they can support themselves and earn money!"
Upon hearing Qian Duoduo's words, Qian Sheng looked up at the distant sun and said, "I wish that day would really come!"
Qian Duoduo smiled and said, "Dad, if one day we all leave the village, will you come with us?"
Qian Sheng was taken aback, then laughed and said, "Why would I go with them? I don't know anything. I can only farm. Besides, I've lived in the village for most of my life. Going elsewhere would feel like I have no roots!"
Qian Duoduo asked, "Dad, how are things at Uncle's house? What about Grandma and Grandpa's house?"
Qian Sheng said, "Yuanbao Village is smaller than our Beian Village, and they don't have much land, but at least they can make a living." He seemed to have thought of something and added, "I had Lao Si deliver those cabbage and radish seeds you brought back last time to your uncle and his family. Hehe, your uncle came by a few days ago and said that the vegetables he planted this year are bigger and fresher than in previous years."
Qian Duoduo smiled and said, "That's good. I planted it in the experimental field at our school, and it felt pretty good. I was even praised by the professor. Because I planted it well, the school cafeteria bought it and I made a little money!"
Qian Sheng laughed and said, "Oh my, my old maid is really amazing! How many students can get the school to buy the vegetables they grow themselves?"
Qian Duoduo laughed as she listened to Qian Sheng's words. "Dad, you have such a strong bias against me! Everything I do is good!"
The father and daughter slowly walked into Yuanbao Village. This village only has about 30 households, which is incomparable to a large village like Beian Village with more than 200 households. Therefore, each family has relatively little land, which means they have to go up the mountain to pick wild vegetables more often.
Qian Sheng, carrying his belongings, knocked on Jin Kuohao's door.
It was cold, so almost everyone in the family stayed in Grandma Jin's room to save firewood. When Yuanfang heard someone knocking on the door, he said, "It sounds like someone is knocking and calling for the child's father."
Jin Kuohao was weaving a chicken coop with straw when he heard Yuanfang's words. He looked up and said, "I'll put on my cotton-padded coat and go out to take a look."
After saying that, he put on a tattered cotton-padded coat and went out. When he arrived at the gate and saw Qian Sheng and Qian Duoduo, he immediately smiled and said, "Brother-in-law, Duoduo, what brings you here?"
Qian Sheng smiled and said, "Let's go inside first. We've walked all this way, so let's take a rest."
Jin Kuohao immediately nodded and led Qian Sheng and Qian Duoduo into the house, calling out as they entered, "Dad, Mom, brother-in-law and Duoduo are here."
Grandma Jin immediately got off the kang (a heated brick bed) and was putting on her shoes when she saw Qian Duoduo walk in. The little pink sweater she was wearing made her look incredibly energetic. Grandma Jin immediately smiled and took Qian Duoduo's hand, saying, "Oh, my darling, you've come to see Grandma! Grandma has missed you so much!"
Qian Duoduo smiled and said, "Grandma, I miss you so much! It's not that I haven't been able to come as often because I have to go to school. Next winter vacation, you and Grandpa can come and stay at my house for a few days. I'll cook you some delicious food."
Grandma Jin smiled and said, "Why would we come to your house? We have food at home now."
Qian Duoduo said with a smile, "Grandma, when you and Grandpa come to my house, you should let my parents take care of you too. You are too biased. You always let my uncle and aunt take care of you, but you never let my parents take care of you."
Upon hearing Qian Duoduo's words, Grandma Jin immediately nodded, "Alright, Grandma will favor you, okay!" Turning to Grandpa Jin, who was looking at Qian Duoduo, she said, "Look at him, he's gone to university and become quite capable, even taking care of us now!"
Everyone else smiled as they looked at Qian Duoduo. Yuanfang even poured two bowls of sweet soup for Qian Sheng and Qian Duoduo, saying with a smile, "Drink some water to warm yourselves up."
Qian Duoduo took a bite, and wow, her aunt's love was a bit too sweet!
Jin Shen got married three years ago. At that time, Qian Duoduo was a bridesmaid for the first time in her life. She was just by her sister-in-law Fu Ning's side. Fu Ning was from Dingzishan Village. She and Jin Shen went to junior high school in Maoershan Commune. Although they were not in the same class, they could be considered junior high school classmates. Later, due to family reasons, she did not finish junior high school and dropped out. After that, the two of them lost contact.
