Qian Duoduo said, "Although our dormitory is on the second floor and the dormitory supervisor is on the first floor, boys definitely can't get in, so I suspect that it was a girl who did this."
The security captain immediately looked at the dormitory supervisor and said, "I've been here all day, I only went to the toilet twice, that's why I wasn't in the guard room at the entrance."
The security captain's eyes lit up immediately upon hearing this: "When is it?"
The dormitory supervisor thought for a moment and said, "The first time was around lunchtime today. I don't remember the exact time, but I went to the toilet not long after I finished eating. The second time was about an hour later when my stomach started hurting again, so I went to the toilet again."
The security captain said, "Could the person who committed the vandalism have done so during one of these two time periods?"
However, no one answered his question.
The security captain said, "Okay, Auntie, would you come with me to inquire at other dormitories?"
The dormitory supervisor nodded immediately.
The security captain said to Qian Duoduo, "We will investigate this matter."
Qian Duoduo nodded and said, "I understand." After watching the dormitory supervisor and security captain leave, she glanced at Jiang Sisi's bed. In the entire dormitory, the door was not damaged, and everyone else's things were undamaged, except for her own. In the entire dormitory, she only had a conflict with Jiang Sisi, so it was perfectly reasonable for her to suspect her.
Lu Fen walked over to Qian Duoduo and asked, "Duoduo, are you alright?"
Qian Duoduo shook her head and said, "No, I need to buy a new duvet cover. Could you ask for leave for my afternoon class?"
Lu Fen said, "Shall I go with you?"
Qian Duoduo shook her head and said, "No need. Sisi isn't here. If you don't help me ask for leave, I'll have to skip class! That would be a huge disaster for a good student like me. It would be a serious jeopardy for my scholarship as a good student."
Lu Fen smiled and pointed at Qian Duoduo: "How come I never noticed you were so... so..."
Qian Duoduo laughed and said, "Alright. I'm going out now, otherwise we won't have anything to cover ourselves with tonight."
Lu Fen nodded, watching as Qian Duoduo put the strips of cloth into a bag and carried it away.
Qian Duoduo carried her things out of the school gate, found a deserted place, threw the things into the farm, took a car to an empty alley near the municipal government, took out the bag containing the cloth strips, carried it to the gate, saw the gatekeeper, smiled and said, "Uncle, I'm looking for Vice Mayor Lu's secretary, Qian Mao. I'm her sister, my name is Qian Duoduo."
The gatekeeper saw that the young woman's eyes were smiling and she looked very cheerful. He nodded, picked up the phone next to him, dialed an internal number, said a few words, and then hung up, saying, "Just wait here. The sun outside is a bit strong."
Qian Duoduo walked to the entrance of the guardhouse with a smile and waited in the shade. The old guard looked at the little girl standing there with her head down, took a stool and put it aside and said, "Sit down and wait, it's tiring to stand!"
Qian Duoduo looked at the gatekeeper with surprise and said, "Thank you, sir." She took an apple out of her pocket, placed it on the table in the gatehouse, and said, "Sir, this is an apple I brought for my brother. Please try it, it's very sweet!"
The gatekeeper didn't want it at first, but the apple was so red and big, and looked so delicious, that he swallowed his refusal. He smiled a little embarrassedly and said, "This apple is really nice. Thank you, sir."
Not long after, Qian Mao came out and saw Qian Duoduo sitting at the entrance of the guardhouse, chatting with the old guard. The two were laughing and talking, and seemed quite harmonious.
When the gatekeeper saw Qian Mao come out, he said, "Secretary Qian, this way."
Qian Mao smiled and said, "Uncle Sun, I'm busy."
The gatekeeper chuckled and said, "What are you busy with? I'm just chatting with Duoduo. And let me tell you, I didn't even know you had a college student sister, Secretary Qian. You kept it a secret!"
Qian Mao laughed and said, "My sister is still in school, and besides, I don't need to publicize this while I'm at work!"
The gatekeeper chuckled and said, "This little girl, Duoduo, is amazing. She knows everything from astronomy to geography, and is very knowledgeable. She's truly impressive; no wonder she's a college student."
Qian Mao hadn't expected that in such a short time, Grandpa Sun's evaluation of his younger sister would rise so high. He smiled and said, "Thank you for the compliment, Grandpa Sun."
The gatekeeper chuckled and said, "That's impressive. Alright, you two brothers can go and talk if you have something to say."
Qian Mao and Qian Duoduo nodded to the gatekeeper, then walked out of the city government building. Qian Mao saw that Qian Duoduo was still carrying a bag, so he reached out and took it from her, saying, "Have you eaten?"
Qian Duoduo nodded and said, "I've already eaten. What about you?"
Qian Mao said, "I've been running around with the leaders all morning and haven't eaten yet. Have lunch with me."
Qian Duoduo nodded. The two walked two streets and sat down at a small noodle shop. Qian Duoduo looked around and said, "Third Brother, how did you find such a small shop?"
Qian Mao said, "Vice Mayor Lu brought me here. This is one of the few restaurants in our city."
Qian Duoduo nodded, and after watching Qian Mao finish a bowl of noodles, she said, "Third Brother, you're eating as fast as Big Brother and Second Brother."
Qian Mao laughed: "I'm used to it. Sometimes when things get busy, there's no time to savor every bite!"
Qian Duoduo nodded, looking at the bag on the ground. She regretted impulsively showing it to Qian Mao, especially since it was just a suspicion and she had no evidence yet.
The more she tried to ignore the bag on the ground, the more Qian Mao picked it up and asked, "Duoduo, what are you carrying?"
Qian Duoduo shook her head and said, "It's nothing."
Qian Mao, being a former secretary, was far better at reading people than Qian Duoduo. He opened the package and found it was full of strips of cloth. He was a little stunned. What were these? The strips of cloth varied in width, and the patterns on them looked somewhat familiar.
He looked at Qian Duoduo in confusion. Qian Duoduo didn't say anything. He looked down at the strip of cloth in his hand. The more he looked at the pattern, the more familiar it seemed. It seemed to be Qian Duoduo's quilt cover. He remembered that he had helped her put on the quilt cover when she first went to college.
Qian Mao took out a relatively wide strip of cloth, pointed to the sunflower pattern on it, and said, "Isn't this your duvet cover? How did it get like this?"
Qian Duoduo packed everything back and said, "It's nothing, I just wanted to throw it away."
Qian Mao watched as Qian Duoduo haphazardly packed her things back and threw them at his feet. He looked at her seriously and asked, "Duoduo, what happened?"
Qian Duoduo shook his head and said, "It's okay, Third Brother, are you done eating? I'll go pay."
Qian Mao grabbed Qian Duoduo and said, "I am your third brother."
