When Qian Duoduo returned after washing the cups, she saw that Liang Kun was already awake. She took out a white bottle from her small backpack, poured out three small white pills, and said to Liang Kun, "This is for diarrhea, try it!"
Liang Kun looked at the small pill in Qian Duoduo's hand and asked, "Will it work?"
Qian Duoduo said, "It should work. I bought it when I was at home, just in case we all had trouble adjusting to the new environment. You can try it. If you don't want to try it, we'll take you to the hospital."
Looking at Qian Duoduo and the pills in her hand, Liang Kun thought of the suffering he had endured that morning. Finally, he gritted his teeth, took the pills from Qian Duoduo, and drank them down with water.
When Yu Jing arrived, he saw Liang Kun drinking water. When he saw that the cup Liang Kun was holding was the one that was on the bedside table, he breathed a sigh of relief. He came over and asked, "Liang Kun, how are you feeling? Can you still go out today?"
Liang Kun sighed and said, "My stomach is still a bit uncomfortable, so I probably can't get out."
Yu Jing glanced at Qian Duoduo standing to the side, thought for a moment, and said, "Liang Kun, why don't you go to the hospital to get checked out?"
Just as Liang Kun was about to nod, he felt another wave of pain in his stomach. He immediately got out of bed and ran to the toilet without even putting on his shoes.
Yu Jing looked at Qian Duoduo standing next to him and said, "Your medicine isn't working either!"
Qian Duoduo didn't even glance at him. She just looked towards the door, found a stool, and sat down. Yang Bin, seeing Qian Duoduo's behavior, sat down beside her without saying a word.
Du Lang, the soldier protecting Yu Jing, stood silently to the side. Despite his name sounding somewhat unruly, he had an ordinary face, the kind that would blend into a crowd without attracting attention. He knew that Yu Jing had been out of his sight for ten minutes last night, and that Liang Kun had developed diarrhea this morning. Du Lang felt that this might be related to the ten minutes Yu Jing had been missing last night. Seeing Liang Kun walking back unsteadily and Yu Jing's somewhat affected manner, a bold guess emerged in his mind.
Did Yu Jing do something during those ten minutes? Du Lang decided to observe secretly. He wanted to find out what was going on. If it was really as he suspected, then he would definitely have to report this to his superiors.
Yu Jing was unaware of Du Lang's gaze secretly observing his actions. He simply said to Liang Kun with concern, "How about I go to the hospital with you? That way I'll feel more at ease."
Liang Kun shook his head weakly and slowly walked into the room with Du Lang's help. He took Qian Duoduo's medicine and went to the toilet to have a hard bowel movement. He felt much better and no longer felt the unbearable pain at the beginning. Now he just wanted to lie down for a while.
Watching Yu Jing support Liang Kun's back, Du Lang and Yang Bin exchanged a glance and remained silent.
After watching Liang Kun lie down, Du Lang said to Yu Jing, "You stay here and look after Comrade Liang. I'm going out for a bit."
Yu Jing readily agreed, and Du Lang turned and left.
Du Lang arrived at Qian Duoduo's room, knocked on the door, and saw Yang Bin open it. He asked, "Is Comrade Qian here?"
Yang Bin nodded, then turned around and saw Qian Duoduo nodding, so he let Du Lang into the room.
Du Lang looked at Yang Bin and said, "I suspect that Liang Kun's illness is related to Yu Jing."
Qian Duoduo looked surprised: "What evidence do you have?"
Du Lang shook his head: "Not yet, but I just thought about it carefully. Last night, Yu Jing was out of my sight for ten minutes. This morning, Liang Kun got sick. And did you notice that Yu Jing was very enthusiastic towards Liang Kun today? This is not his usual behavior."
Yang Bin asked curiously, "What did you do during those ten minutes?"
Du Lang said, "Actually, it was when we were about to finish eating. We were almost at the restaurant entrance when he suddenly said that he had left something in the room. Then he quickly ran upstairs. He appeared in about ten minutes with a diary in his hand. During the meal, I saw him discussing the diary with Professor Yuan, so I didn't think much of it."
He scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly and said, "I should have just gone with them."
Qian Duoduo shook her head and said, "He just didn't want you to come with him, that's why he ran away in such a hurry."
Yang Bin nodded and said, "That's what I think too."
Du Lang glanced at Yang Bin, who was standing like a parrot, and then looked at Qian Duoduo and asked, "So what do we do now?"
Qian Duoduo frowned and pondered for a moment, then said, "Then let's hold back for now and observe Yu Jing secretly to see if we can find any clues, especially regarding the source of the medicine."
Du Lang and Yang Bin nodded, and Du Lang said something and left.
When Du Lang returned to the room, he saw Yu Jing still guarding Liang Kun's bedside, feigning concern. He secretly vowed to find out the truth.
Qian Duoduo then took Yang Bin to Professor Yuan's room and told Professor Yuan about Du Lang's suspicions and her own thoughts. Professor Yuan looked directly at Qian Duoduo and said, "Are you doubting your own classmate?"
Qian Duoduo: "If Liang Kun's illness was really caused by him, then he never considered us as classmates. How could we dare to work with someone who betrays his comrades?"
Professor Yuan fell silent.
Yuan Quan looked at Yang Bin, who nodded. He naturally trusted his teammate more, especially after hearing Qian Duoduo's most crucial question: Where did Yu Jing's money come from?
Seeing Professor Yuan remain silent, Qian Duoduo continued, "We don't necessarily want to frame him; we just want to investigate Liang Kun's illness thoroughly. If Yu Jing is innocent, we can also give him justice."
Professor Yuan finally spoke: "Alright, proceed with caution. But remember, don't alert them, and don't jump to conclusions."
Qian Duoduo and Yang Bin exchanged a glance and left Professor Yuan's room together.
Yuan Quan looked at Professor Yuan sitting in his chair with one hand on the table, walked up to him and said, "Professor Yuan, I think it's better to investigate this matter thoroughly. After all, you're going somewhere else after you leave here, and it's indeed dangerous to have someone with ill intentions around."
Professor Yuan looked at Yuan Quan, sighed, leaned back, and closed his eyes. He understood these principles better than anyone else. However, these were his students, and he knew more or less about what had happened between them. At that time, there were no injuries, and he thought they were just resentful. He never expected things to escalate so much.
Over the next few days, Qian Duoduo, Yang Bin, and Du Lang kept a close eye on Yu Jing's every move.
However, Yu Jing did not do anything unusual. Apart from showing great care for Liang Kun, he simply continued to complete the academic tasks assigned by Professor Yuan.
Just as everyone was puzzled, one night, Du Lang discovered that Yu Jing had secretly slipped out of the guesthouse. He quickly called Yang Bin, and Qian Duoduo, of course, also found out and insisted on going with them. Yang Bin and Du Lang had no choice but to take her along.
The three of them quietly followed Yu Jing to a ward in the military hospital. Through the window, they saw Yu Jing talking to Nurse Zhou.
