Before returning to Beijing, Lu Yuan still transported the things that Qian Duoduo had sent back from Hainan Island back to Qianshan Village.
Jin Jinxiu was sitting inside the house sighing. Although they were poorer before, their children were always around. But now, the house felt cold and deserted. Wen Yugui, holding her daughter, sat to the side and saw the words "Fourth Sister-in-law's Aunt". Her eyes immediately reddened. She said, "This sister-in-law is so lovable. She can even think of her own aunt!"
Qian Rao said, "This is for Grandma, and this is for my uncle."
Looking at the two packages, Jin Jinxiu felt deeply gratified; her daughter was a filial daughter!
Qian Sheng said, "Qian Rao should deliver it to my father-in-law and the wealthy man tomorrow."
Qian Rao immediately said, "Okay, I'll ride my bicycle there tomorrow." He then looked at the package intended for Aunt Wen Yugui and asked, "Should we send this during the New Year, or earlier?"
Jin Jinxiu slapped him: "Get lost."
Wen Yugui, holding a package, said, "This is for us, Qian Rao. Please open it and take a look."
Qian Rao obediently opened it and saw that it contained dried fish and shrimp, two glass jars of drunken crab, and very pretty little conch and shellfish. The edges had been polished very smoothly, apparently to prevent the child from scratching himself. This thoughtfulness warmed Wen Yugui's heart!
Jin Jinxiu laughed: "If you ask me, it has to be my old maid. When have my sons ever thought of buying us anything while they're away?"
Qian Rao immediately fell silent. He had never thought of buying anything for his mother. Every time they needed to buy something, his wife would bring it up and pay for it. Besides, he didn't have any money himself!
Jin Jinxiu looked at the packages and said, "Duoduo's needlework skills are really not good! Look at how crookedly it's sewn."
Qian Sheng looked at it and thought it was alright. It was better than what he could sew himself. Besides, his daughter was good at everything, and there was nothing he couldn't do well!
Qian Sheng said, "I'll deliver this to you after dinner tonight, brother!"
