As Qian Mao walked out of the train station, he couldn't help but shiver, muttering, "Goodness, winters in Northeast China are really cold!" As he spoke, he put his hands into his pockets, trying to find some warmth.
Looking at the scene before him, he couldn't help but sigh, "No wonder they say that winter in the Northeast is like a northwest wind; this is almost blowing me into a dog!" After saying that, he couldn't help but shiver, and his body began to tremble involuntarily.
Qian Mao thought to himself, "Looks like I need to find a warm place to stay quickly, or I'll really freeze to death." So he quickened his pace and headed towards the nearest state-run restaurant. Along the way, the cold wind kept blowing, making him feel as if he were in an ice cellar.
Finally arriving at the restaurant, Qian Mao hurriedly pushed open the door, and a wave of heat rushed towards him. He breathed a sigh of relief and exclaimed, "It's so much warmer inside!" Then, he walked to a table, sat down, and prepared to have a good meal to relieve the fatigue of his journey.
After finishing his Mapo Tofu, Qian Mao pouted. This Mapo Tofu was a complete waste of the dish, and all of Duo Duo's efforts were in vain.
He was waiting for his bowl of noodles with braised meat sauce when a familiar voice reached his ears. He turned his head and saw that it was indeed a familiar person: Qian Laosi, Qian Rao, and his wife.
Qian Rao was looking for a spot when he spotted a figure he knew all too well. The figure, holding Wen Yugui's hand, walked towards Qian Mao: "Third Brother, when did you get back?"
Qian Mao smiled and gestured to the two of them to sit down. He then said with a laugh, "I just got off the train and came back. It's so cold!"
Qian Rao looked at Qian Mao with surprise and said, "Third Brother, why is your tone changing?"
Qian Mao laughed and said, "Get out of here!"
Qian Rao breathed a sigh of relief: "Yes, that's the taste, so familiar!"
Because Qian Rao was taking Wen Yugui to her aunt's house in the county, after they ate at the state-run restaurant, they took Qian Mao with them to Aunt Wen's house. They brought back seafood sent by Qian Duoduo and seafood snacks sent by Qian Mao.
However, what they didn't expect was that at Aunt Wen's house, they met the person Wen Yugui least wanted to see: Qiao Dashan with Qiao Jiao. The five of them were a bit dumbfounded, but Qiao Jiao was the first to come to her senses.
She immediately stepped forward and said, "Yu Gui, you really are something, running away from home. Your father is going crazy looking for you."
Wen Yugui stood at the door and saw Qiao Jiao coming over to grab her. She took a step back and said, "I'm not that familiar with you."
Qiao Jiao was taken aback: "How could you do this, child?"
When Wen Dashan saw Wen Yugui's appearance, he was stunned for a moment and shouted at her, "This is outrageous! You shameless woman, being so intimate with men, and two of them at that!"
Aunt Wen's face immediately darkened. She reached out and slapped Wen Dashan on the back: "You came to my house to show off, didn't you? Those are Yu Gui's boyfriend and his boyfriend's brother. If you don't know, don't talk nonsense." After saying that, she smiled apologetically at Qian Mao.
Wen Dashan may not know, but does she not know? Qian Mao was the secretary of the county party secretary and later the secretary of the mayor. How could she be offended so easily?
Wen Dashan's face stiffened. His elder sister's influence was still there, and her husband was a section chief in a state-owned enterprise, which was far beyond what an old farmer like himself could compare to. Therefore, he was still somewhat afraid of his aunt.
In particular, he was bewildered when he noticed that his older sister was being somewhat ingratiating towards her brother-in-law. What was going on? Wen Yugui's boyfriend looked just like him; he could smell the earthy odor emanating from him. However, her brother was fair-skinned and clean-cut.
This brat didn't even bother choosing a partner who could help the family. She got married and didn't even tell us. We absolutely have to get that dowry, otherwise we've raised this girl for nothing!
Qiao Jiao glanced at Wen Dashan's cowardly appearance, gritted her teeth, and said, "Yu Gui, tell me, after all these years away from home, does your father still miss you?"
Wen Yugui looked at Qiao Jiao and said, "Aunt Qiao, don't you feel guilty saying that? Let's not talk about whether he came to see me or not. Do you think I don't know what kind of life he's been living these past few years?"
Qiao Jiao smiled and said, "Then you know we're not doing well."
Wen Yugui immediately said, "You're not doing well because you took the money he earned to your parents' house to build a house for your younger brother, didn't you?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Dashan immediately looked at Qiao Jiao and saw that her face looked rather pale. His heart skipped a beat. Although he knew that Qiao Jiao's family often came to visit, and of course they would never leave empty-handed, he was shocked to find that his family's money had been taken to build a house for her younger brother.
He immediately asked, "Did our family's money go to your family?"
Qiao Jiao immediately explained with a smile, "It's because my younger brother's child is getting married and wants to build a house, so he asked me for money, and I just... I lent it to him!" Her tone carried a hint of guilt and insecurity.
Wen Yugui scoffed, her eyes filled with disdain: "That's money he worked so hard to earn. Once it's lent out, do you think you can get it back?" Her words were sharp and direct, sending a chill down one's spine.
Wen Dashan's gaze also turned to Qiao Jiao, his eyes revealing worry and dissatisfaction.
Qiao Jiao, feeling flustered under their gazes, said somewhat nervously, "Of course, how could my brother owe us money?" She tried to make her voice sound firm, but her heart was not as calm as her face showed.
Wen Dashan asked, "Did Qiao Hai write you an IOU?"
