Chapter 32 Qian Duoduo: Reading makes one wise!

And sure enough, Qian Duoduo actually added two friends. One was a man based on his profile picture, and the other was a woman. Qian Duoduo chatted with them separately. The man's name was Qin Feng, codename: Lan Xing. He lived in 1984 and was a self-employed individual. His chat with Qian Duoduo was much more harmonious. One could supply and the other had demand. Moreover, during the chat, Qian Duoduo gradually analyzed that this store was not for people with farms like her. Like Su Ruanruan, her system was like the PvP system of later generations, with inconsistent product quality and all relying on luck. Her vegetables, on the other hand, just happened to meet their needs, so their cooperation was quite good.

Qin Feng, on the other hand, runs a restaurant. Qian Duoduo, with a bold stroke of his imagination, figured it must be a chef system; otherwise, why would it require mostly cooking vegetables and seasonings? This made it even more suitable. Qian Duoduo's vegetables mature very quickly, especially low-level ones like cabbage and radishes, which ripen in minutes. There was no concern about quantity shortages, and Qin Feng's restaurant had just opened, so the demand wasn't high. Qian Duoduo could simply grow vegetables according to his orders to fully supply the needs. Qian Duoduo quite liked this kind of cooperation, especially since he now had more land than when he was level 15, even though it was still the lowest-level yellow land—it was better than nothing!

Qian Duoduo was in a great mood after her deal with Qin Feng, but another girl completely ruined it. Why? Because the other girl was too arrogant and spoke very rudely. Qian Duoduo disdained doing business with such a person, so after the deal fell through, she decisively deleted her as a friend, not caring about the other girl's expression after she found out she had been deleted. As long as she was in a good mood, that was the most important thing.

She contacted Qin Feng again, hoping he could help her find a set of math, physics, and chemistry textbooks. To his surprise, Qin Feng already had a set and readily sold it to Qian Duoduo for gold coins. Fortunately, she had just traded gold coins with Qin Feng, so she could afford the money. With this set of books, she could start studying slowly. Besides, she also had junior high and high school textbooks at home. Hehe, all she had left to do was study and wait for the college entrance examination.

She suddenly remembered that Qian Feng and Qian Yu were both high school graduates. She thought for a moment and took out a piece of paper to write down their thoughts, telling them to study hard in their spare time. Although no one knew what the future held at this time, what they learned was theirs to keep and no one could take it away from them. It might even be helpful to them in the army or when they went on missions.

The New Year of 1971 arrived quietly, and the struggle outside intensified. The whole country lived in a state of trembling, and even the remote village of Beian felt this way. The Revolutionary Committee had already come twice after the New Year. When they walked down the street, people would tremble at the sight of them, afraid that they would be seen.

However, apart from the educated youth who came from outside, the rest of the people in Beian Village were poor and lower-middle peasants. Even if some of them were well-off, it was only relative to other villagers. The people from the Revolutionary Committee really looked down on these people's meager earnings.

Just after the spring plowing was over, Qian Sheng received a letter from the commune saying that someone wanted to come to their Beian Village. Helpless, Qian Sheng could only take an oxcart to the commune.

When Qian Duoduo came home from school, he saw a group of people following behind the oxcart. They were mostly old people, women and children, with only three or four adult men among them. Judging from their appearance, Qian Duoduo knew that they were not educated youth sent to the countryside. So there was only one possibility: they were people who had been sent down to Beian Village.

Qian Sheng's expression wasn't good. Qian Duoduo saw that they were walking very slowly and knew that they had had a hard journey. Although she felt bad for them, she couldn't go forward at this time, after all, she couldn't cause trouble for her family.

Even the educated youth here were trembling with fear. Jiang Caiqin dared not cause any more trouble, and Feng Niaoniao and Yun Yi even shut themselves in to live their own little lives. Apart from going to work, the two of them stayed in their own courtyard. And it must be said, this really did bring peace to Beian Village.

After taking those people to a house near the cowshed, Qian Sheng returned home, sighed, sat at the door, and touched his pockets. He thought about how Qian Duoduo had taken away all his cigarettes, and he could only smoke one a day. This was truly the torment of love.

Seeing Qian Sheng's expression, Qian Duoduo asked, "Dad, what's wrong?"

Qian Sheng shook his head.

Qian Duoduo asked, "Dad, who are these people who came today?"

Qian Sheng said, "They are all educated people, but outside they are called 'stinking intellectuals.' However, Duoduo, educated people like them should not be treated like this. If they are treated like this, am I wrong to make you learn knowledge?"

Qian Duoduo found a small stool, sat down next to Qian Sheng's legs, and looked towards the front door just like him. He said, "Dad, I think reading is great. Reading makes people wise; it's an important way for us to acquire knowledge and broaden our horizons. Reading not only increases our knowledge and wisdom but also helps us better understand the world and appreciate life. It teaches us to analyze, judge, reason, and solve problems. Through reading, we learn about different places, different people, and different things. By reading books on history, geography, science, and other subjects, we can understand the development of human society, the mysteries of the natural world, and the progress of science and technology."

Reading also gives us strength and courage, making us more composed and determined when facing difficulties and challenges, and enabling us to quickly find solutions to problems.
