The two spent two days on Hainan Island, eating and drinking, and looking at the ends of the earth. After resting, they took a ferry from Hainan Island to Guangzhou in Guangdong Province. They watched the sunrise and sunset at sea, and saw seagulls filling the sky. Occasionally, Qian Duoduo would even improvise a few limericks. Lu Yuan, who was next to Qian Duoduo, watched him and laughed heartily, occasionally adding a few words in response. In short, they were very content.
In fact, Qian Duoduo also noticed that several of their packages were missing. At least when Lu Yuan came out of the military compound, Qian Feng not only brought a lot of things for himself, but also some for his sister-in-law.
When those large and small bags were carried away, and the number of bags was small, Qian Duoduo had some suspicions in her mind. Especially when she thought about the medicine that Lu Yuan gave her that did not belong to this era, her suspicions became more obvious. Occasionally, when Lu Yuan was not paying attention, she would linger on him to see if he had any spatial mediums that looked like metal plates.
Lu Yuan had no idea that Qian Duoduo was speculating about his space; he simply assumed that she was attracted by his appearance and couldn't take her eyes off him.
The two tacitly understood each other, each harboring their own secrets, and thus refrained from digging deeper into the matter.
After disembarking at the Ji'an Wharf in Guangzhou, Lu Yuan, with his sharp eyes, spotted some people on the wharf carrying large boxes and burlap sacks.
A thought struck him, and he walked over to Qian Duoduo and whispered, "This dock is unusual; someone must have brought some things over from Hong Kong."
Qian Duoduo's heart skipped a beat, and she asked in a low voice, "Really?"
Lu Yuan glanced at the group and whispered, "It should be true, but this road is quite hidden, and ordinary people would hardly encounter it." If it weren't for his intuition from his time as a soldier, he might not have been able to sense these people. After all, in the apocalypse, these things were already antiques. They were all living in fear for their survival, and money was useless in their era; resources were king.
Qian Duoduo thought back to the period novels she had read, where the female or male protagonists would trade with powerful figures who could get their hands on goods, and they would all make a fortune. A thought flickered in her mind: could she do the same?
The two walked and discussed in hushed tones. Qian Duoduo said, "It's a long way, and my brothers are coming to Guangzhou. What do you think? Should I ask them to see if they can transport some goods back to Harbin? That way, we can make a profit."
Lu Yuan thought for a moment and said, "If we could bring them back to Harbin, we would definitely make a fortune. But we don't know these people, and we can't get a large quantity of goods on our first transaction. Would it be a bit of a waste to make Fourth Brother and the others make the trip?"
Qian Duoduo hesitated for a moment and said, "What about clothes? Of the four basic necessities of life—clothing, food, housing, and transportation—clothes are definitely number one and should sell better, right?"
Lu Yuan thought for a moment and said, "I think this is a safer option than that one. After all, people who can bring so many things back from Hong Kong are not simple. Fourth Brother and the others don't have that many schemes. If Third Brother were here, we could consider it."
Okay, let's go to Guangzhou and look around to see if there are any nice clothes, then we can contact the manufacturers for advice.
Qian Duoduo nodded, agreeing with the idea. The two left the dock, boarded a bus bound for Guangzhou, found a guesthouse in Baiyun District, checked in, and then wandered around the neighborhood.
Especially in the department store, the two found that some of the clothes were okay, but they didn't meet their aesthetic standards. Most importantly, the prices in the department store were really high. After they came out, they went to Gaodi Street, which allowed Qian Duoduo to truly experience the prosperity and liveliness of Guangzhou. The crowds were so dense that they had only experienced this kind of situation at the train station before they traveled through time.
They bought some things and naturally saw many beautiful clothes. Qian Duoduo wanted to chat with the shop owner, but the owner was too busy to pay attention to her. This gave Qian Duoduo a new understanding of how busy the street was.
They walked slowly down Gaodi Street, and Lu Yuan's eyes darkened. They had only bought a few things, and because they were from out of town and spoke with accents, they had attracted the attention of some people. However, because of Lu Yuan's presence, they hadn't surrounded them yet.
As he was pondering how to tell Qian Duoduo about this, he saw Qian Duoduo leading him into a dead end. At that moment, Lu Yuan suddenly recalled the scene of his first meeting with Qian Duoduo, which was also in an alley. She was surrounded by several female classmates, but to his surprise, she single-handedly defeated them all and discovered him.
This was the first time he had found this girl quite interesting. He never expected to fall for her and willingly become the man behind her. He went to great lengths to transform himself from a People's Liberation Army soldier into Lu Yuan, hoping that in the near future, she would become his wife, his spouse, and the father of his children!
While he was still lost in thought, the people who had been secretly following them slowly walked to the entrance of the alley and blocked the entire alley. Lu Yuan was never one to sit idly by and wait for death, but the sudden appearance of Qian Duoduo, a performer with a histrionic personality, almost made Lu Yuan perform a wrestling act on the spot.
Qian Duoduo immediately hid behind Lu Yuan and shouted, "What are you doing? Let me tell you, I'm still a virgin, and I won't obey you."
The men were taken aback by Qian Duoduo's words. One of them snorted coldly, "Stop talking nonsense and hand over your money." They hadn't originally planned to rob them outright, but their attempts at stealth had failed several times, making them wonder if their skills had declined. However, the way the two men spent money without batting an eye was truly captivating!
