Five days after Qian Feng returned, the neighbor's yard was finally finished. He saw that the kang quilt was placed on the kang with the kang mat laid out, and a wardrobe and table were placed inside the house. Except for the large iron pot, there was no problem with people living there.
Jin Jinxiu and Qian Sheng were discussing buying an iron pot, but nowadays you need an industrial ration coupon to buy a pot. When Ling Yun found an industrial ticket, she looked up happily and saw Qian Feng looking at her with warm eyes. Her face flushed and she said, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Speaking in such a soft tone, with a Northeastern accent that had changed after only a few days, Qian Feng couldn't help but hug Ling Yun and say, "Wife."
Ling Yun gently rested her head against Qian Feng's chest. He had a sour, sweaty smell about him, which she had smelled before. It was after Qian Feng had finished training and hadn't showered yet. Back then, she thought he smelled like a mature man. But now, this smell made her feel uncomfortable all over. She pushed Qian Feng away, covered her mouth, and ran outside.
Qian Feng was still savoring the tenderness of their moment when his wife pushed him away. Watching her cover her mouth and leave, he frowned. Was he really that smelly? But when he heard Ling Yun gagging, he immediately ran out and saw her standing up straight. He rushed over and asked, "Honey, what's wrong?"
"Ugh, ugh..." Ling Yun smelled the sweat, and the dry heaving that had just stopped returned. She pushed Qian Feng away and then dodged to the side.
Hearing Ling Yun's commotion, Qian Duoduo quickly came out. Seeing her sister-in-law's appearance, she immediately poured a glass of cold water and brought it to her. Qian Feng anxiously tried to step forward, but Qian Duoduo pushed him away, saying, "Brother, you smell so sweaty and sour. Go wash up quickly."
Qian Feng saw his wife taking small sips of water and asked, "Xiaoyun, are you alright? Should I take you to the clinic to get checked out?"
Qian Duoduo said, "Come on, I think my sister-in-law was made to vomit by your smell. I feel like throwing up just smelling it."
Qian Feng sniffed his own body and snorted. He had just been working there and hadn't showered since, so he did smell sweaty. He immediately said, "I'm going to shower now. Duoduo, take care of your sister-in-law."
Qian Duoduo waved to him and said to Ling Yun, "Sister-in-law, are you feeling better?"
Ling Yun's face, which was pale from gagging, flushed slightly: "No, it's nothing. I just suddenly smelled his scent and felt a little uncomfortable."
Qian Duoduo laughed and said, "My brother has been working all day, and the sweat and the smell of sand are really unpleasant. We'll talk to him about it later. He's so unhygienic, he should come after you."
Ling Yun laughed: "Then your older brother is a bit wronged."
Qian Duoduo smiled. It seemed that the two of them were really alright. Otherwise, her sister-in-law wouldn't have been so protective of her brother. It's good that they're alright!
Jin Jinxiu, who came upon hearing the commotion, looked at Ling Yun with surprise at first, then delight. A slightly daring idea formed in her mind. She walked over, pulled Ling Yun back to their room, and pushed Qian Duoduo, who wanted to listen in, out of the room, completely ignoring the gossipy old maid's thoughts.
Meanwhile, Qian Duoduo and Qian Feng, who had just returned from a shower, stared at each other. When He Ying came over, she saw this scene, laughed, and walked over to pat Qian Feng on the shoulder: "How old are you? Still acting like a little sister. Where's your wife?"
Qian Feng greeted He Ying, then pointed to the door: "My mother and my wife are inside. They chased us both out."
He Ying glanced at Qian Duoduo and saw her nod as well, which puzzled her. Suddenly, Jin Jinxiu shouted from inside, "That's great!" The three people outside the door looked at each other, wondering what was going on.
Jin Jinxiu walked out with a smile. When she saw He Ying there, she immediately smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, you've come! I have some great news to share."
Who is He Ying? She's a well-known smart woman in the Qian family. Seeing Jin Jinxiu like this, she immediately understood: "Oh my, this is great news! You should quickly ask Xiaoyun what she likes to eat, and I'll prepare some for her too." As she spoke, she and Jin Jinxiu walked out, leaving the two siblings looking at each other in bewilderment. What was going on? It seemed like the whole world knew except for the two of them.
Qian Feng strode into the small house and closed the door behind him. Now Qian Duoduo's whole world was in turmoil. She felt abandoned by everyone. They all knew the truth, but she didn't. She was deeply hurt!
During dinner that evening, Qian Duoduo noticed the smiles on Jin Jinxiu and Qian Feng's faces and whispered to Qian Rao next to her, "Fourth Brother, don't you think the atmosphere tonight is a bit strange?"
