Chapter 527 Qian Duoduo: The Qian Family Heads to Pengcheng!

A pleasant ringtone came from the other end of the phone, and it was answered after only a few rings. When Guo Ni heard that the caller was Qian Duoduo, she immediately said excitedly, "Duoduo, I was just about to call you! My mother wants the whole family to move to Pengcheng regarding Qian Gui's matter, so as to show how much importance our family attaches to this."

However, as you know the nature of my work, I can't stay for long. So I'm hoping you can help me get a temporary transfer to your site to help with landscaping for your project. That way, I can go there legitimately!

Qian Duoduo was more than willing to agree to this. She and Guo Ni hadn't seen each other for a long time. Even though they were in Harbin, they were both busy with their own things and rarely saw each other. Qian Duoduo was very happy that Guo Ni could come this time, so she agreed on the spot without hesitation and said that she would get everything sorted out as soon as possible.

Sure enough, not long after, Qian Duoduo's invitation seemed to sprout wings and reached the Forestry Bureau of Heilongjiang Province. This invitation specifically requested Guo Ni to attend.

The invitation caused an uproar within the Forestry Bureau, displeasing many. Therefore, the Deputy Director of the Forestry Bureau, surnamed Qiao, personally called Qian Duoduo, indicating that they had many more suitable candidates than Guo Ni to send.

However, when faced with the deputy director's explanation, Qian Duoduo simply smiled and then directly asked him without any hesitation: "I invited Guo Ni to come here for guidance because she is my college classmate and I know her well. Besides that, I trust her because she is my cousin-in-law. As for the ability of the person you introduced, deputy director, let's not talk about that. It's hard to find trust in someone. If you think my secondment form is not suitable, that's fine too."

Qian Duoduo's words were simple and straightforward, leaving Deputy Director Qiao speechless. After hanging up the phone, Deputy Director Qiao was still unwilling. He didn't take Qian Duoduo's secondment request seriously, thinking he could just delay it. He refused to believe that anyone could do anything to him if he didn't sign it. Just as he continued to stubbornly refuse the approval, a rapid phone call suddenly rang.

Deputy Director Qiao instinctively picked up the phone, and his expression immediately tensed when he saw the caller ID. The caller was the chief secretary of the provincial and municipal party committee secretaries—a secretary who wasn't one to casually chat with others.

The voice on the other end of the phone was deep and serious, and the main topic of discussion was "Pengcheng Wanmao Company's secondment of Guo Ni to Pengcheng to participate in project construction."

As Deputy Director Qiao listened, a chill ran down his spine, instantly permeating his entire body. Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his hands trembled slightly involuntarily. This sudden phone call was like a bolt from the blue, striking Deputy Director Qiao's heart hard.

After hanging up the phone, Deputy Director Qiao paced around his office twice, finally unable to stay there any longer. An unprecedented fear and unease enveloped him. After a moment's thought, he forced himself to stay calm and hurried towards Guo Ni's office. His heart pounded faster and faster as he walked. Guo Ni had always been very low-key in the Forestry Bureau; he hadn't expected her to not only have connections to Wanmao Company but also to be remembered and favored by the Provincial Party Secretary.

Finally arriving at Guo Ni's office, Deputy Director Qiao took a deep breath, forced a smile, and gently knocked on the door. After receiving permission, he pushed the door open and entered. He saw Guo Ni sitting upright at her desk, a very professional smile on her face, though the smile didn't reach her eyes.

Deputy Director Qiao walked up to Guo Ni with a big smile and said politely, "Comrade Guo Ni, I'm so sorry to bother you! I just heard some things, so I came here to talk to you..." As he spoke, he carefully observed the changes in Guo Ni's expression.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, the conversation gradually shifted to the relationship between Guo Ni and the provincial party secretary. Although Deputy Director Qiao was filled with curiosity and doubt, he dared not ask directly, and could only probe indirectly. Guo Ni, on the other hand, remained calm and composed, neither denying nor admitting, allowing Deputy Director Qiao to speculate as he pleased.

Thus, the two engaged in what appeared to be casual conversation, each harboring their own thoughts. In their back-and-forth dialogue, Deputy Director Qiao continuously tried to glean clues from Guo Ni's words and expressions. Although Guo Ni didn't explicitly reveal any important information, Deputy Director Qiao, relying on his imagination and subjective assumptions, had already sketched out a complex picture of their interpersonal relationship in his mind.

Ultimately, the conversation ended in a subtle and awkward atmosphere. Surprisingly, Guo Ni's approval process was remarkably fast. Qian Duoduo had originally only requested a one-month secondment, but thanks to the strategic planning of the director and Deputy Director Qiao, the timeframe was extended to two months!

Guo Ni was naturally overjoyed and readily accepted the extra month. After all, such an opportunity was rare, and she knew that Qian Duoduo must have been instrumental in bringing it upon himself. As for why Deputy Director Qiao made this decision, only he himself knew best. Perhaps the phone call from the secretary of the provincial and municipal party committee secretaries had put him under immense pressure; or perhaps his conversation with Guo Ni had made him aware of certain potential conflicts of interest… But in any case, it was all a done deal.

Guo Ni rushed home and quickly packed her bags. It was perfect timing; the children were on winter break, and she thought she could take the whole family on a trip. After discussing it with her mother-in-law and Qian Xiang over the phone, they decided that as soon as the children finished their exams, the whole family would set off immediately.

The family arrived at the train station in high spirits and boarded the train bound for Guangzhou. Because Qian Mao's children were too young to withstand the journey, and Zhang Mengyao's mother, Yu Xiyao, happened to be in the county town helping to take care of the children, only the young couple couldn't accompany them. Even so, the remaining family members totaled more than twenty people! The figures of all ages filled half the carriage.

It was the dead of winter, and the weather was chilly when we boarded the train in Heilongjiang Province. Fortunately, everyone was well-prepared, bringing not only thick coats but also very fashionable clothes underneath. They also brought plenty of food for the journey. Although there was a lot of food, there were also a lot of people. Sure enough, not long after boarding, the younger children were already complaining of hunger, and the aroma of food began to fill the carriage. The delicate fragrance of fresh cucumbers and the rich bean aroma of fragrant dried tofu were particularly enticing. Passengers around, drawn by the tempting smells, couldn't help but crane their necks to look in our direction.

Fortunately, this carriage was entirely composed of sleeper berths, and even soft sleeper berths. Most of the passengers were very well-behaved, and nothing strange or unpleasant happened.
