Chapter 603 Jin Jinxiu: Did you call your aunt?

When Wang Rui slowly woke up, the first thing she saw was Qian Gui, who looked haggard and had red eyes. He was holding Wang Rui's pale and weak little hand tightly, crying like a helpless child, with tears streaming down his cheeks.

Wang Rui forced a smile, her lips dry from lack of water for so long, trying to soothe the heartbroken man before her. However, at that moment, a strange heat surged from her lower body, instantly making her expression uneasy.

Qian Gui, who had been closely watching Wang Rui's every move, naturally wouldn't miss the subtle change in her expression. Originally overjoyed to see her awaken and eagerly anticipate her smile, Qian Gui's brows furrowed tightly. Without hesitation, he quickly stood up, bent down, and leaned close to Wang Rui, his face full of concern as he softly asked, "Wife, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Tell me quickly!"

At this moment, another person inside the house—Jin Jinxiu—also rushed over upon hearing the commotion. She looked at Wang Rui with concern and asked gently, "Little Rui, you're finally awake? How are you feeling? Are you tired? I specially boiled several eggs for you, and there's also some hot chicken soup. Why don't you get up and have some to nourish yourself?"

Wang Rui nodded gently in agreement. Then, she carefully shifted her body, but thankfully, the unsettling heat didn't return. She then said to Qian Gui, "I'd like to lean back for a bit." Upon hearing this, Qian Gui quickly reached out and gently helped Wang Rui sit up, propping up a nearby pillow so she could lean comfortably against it. After adjusting her position, Wang Rui felt much more comfortable than when she was lying flat, and she felt a little more refreshed.

Jin Jinxiu ruthlessly pushed Qian Gui aside, scolding him incessantly: "Hey you, hurry up and wash your face! Look at you crying like that, all snot and tears, it's so disgusting! If your son sees you later, he might even look down on you as his father!"

Knowing his aunt was so dismissive of his expensive money, he didn't dare delay for a second. He was quickly pushed behind her like a startled rabbit. Then, he turned to Wang Rui and hurriedly said, "Wife, have some soup first. I'll go and tidy myself up and wash my face." Before he finished speaking, he rushed off to the bathroom.

Seeing this, Jin Jinxiu couldn't help but laugh. She turned her head and looked at Wang Rui with a smile, saying earnestly, "You two are really a pair of carefree people! You're about to have a baby, and one of you is never home, while the other doesn't even make a phone call. But thankfully, everything is going smoothly and nothing has gone wrong."

Hearing this, Wang Rui's face showed a hint of embarrassment. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but ultimately remained silent. She reached out to take the bowl of hot soup from Jin Jinxiu's hand, but just as she was about to touch the rim, Jin Jinxiu nimbly picked up a spoon, gently scooped up a spoonful of steaming soup, and carefully brought it to Wang Rui's lips, softly comforting her, "Alright, alright, don't worry! The baby is fine, healthy and strong. Although you suffered a lot during your pregnancy, as long as the final result is happy, then it's all worth it!" Seeing Wang Rui's embarrassed look, she smiled and said, "Drink up. When Qian Gui comes back later, let him feed you. You're still weak, so let him take care of you!"

Wang Rui's lips curled into a sweet smile. She genuinely liked her second aunt. It wasn't just because of her aunt's amazing cooking skills, which were so delicious they made everyone drool; more importantly, her aunt possessed a unique charm—as an elder, she was approachable and down-to-earth; moreover, she had a strong sense of propriety and boundaries, never taking advantage of being the only elder in the family to interfere in or dictate to the younger generation. Even with her own daughter, her aunt always adhered to principles, diligently fulfilling her duties, never shirking responsibility for what was right and never overstepping her bounds in matters outside her purview, wholeheartedly helping to take care of the children.

Just then, Qian Gui strode in. He immediately spotted Jin Jinxiu holding a bowl, and naturally took it from her. He then sat down on the edge of the bed, gently and skillfully scooping up a spoonful of delicious chicken soup and carefully feeding it to her. Seeing this, Jin Jinxiu's face lit up with a happy smile. She then tiptoed to the side, gazing joyfully at the baby in the cradle. However, suddenly, as if remembering something, her brow furrowed slightly, and she fell into deep thought.

After a while, when she looked up, her gaze fell on Qian Duoduo, who was chatting happily with Peng Fei. Once Qian Duoduo finished talking, Jin Jinxiu quickly went over and asked softly, "Duoduo, it seems like Mother forgot something today?"

Upon hearing this, Qian Duoduo was taken aback at first, then asked with a puzzled look, "What's wrong?"

Jin Jinxiu frowned deeply, rested her chin on her right hand, and after thinking carefully for a moment, slowly said, "Duoduo, your sister-in-law's baby has been born! Have you called your aunt and the others to tell them the good news?"

Hearing this, Qian Duoduo was stunned. She turned her head and looked at Peng Fei beside her. Peng Fei gently shook his head, indicating his denial. Then, Qian Duoduo turned her gaze back to the man not far away who was immersed in happiness. At this moment, it seemed that only his beloved wife was in his eyes, and even his newborn son could not attract the slightest attention from him.

Finally, Qian Duoduo's gaze returned to Jin Jinxiu, and she replied softly, "None of us have called Auntie yet."

Before she could finish speaking, Jin Jinxiu suddenly slapped her thigh, clearly having thought of something important. However, just as she was about to speak, a loud cry suddenly rang out—it was the baby lying in the crib who had suddenly started crying.

Jin Jinxiu froze instantly, as if someone had pressed the freeze button, her body stiffening and unable to move. She wondered to herself if she had slapped the child too hard, frightening him. Thinking this, she felt a pang of guilt and remorse. However, when her gaze inadvertently swept over the new parents, who were affectionately feeding each other chicken soup, a strange sense of heartache welled up inside her. The child was crying so hard, yet they were only focused on enjoying their time together, completely ignoring the child's cries, leisurely sipping their chicken soup spoonful after spoonful. Sigh… she didn't know how to describe this scene.
