Chapter 624 Qian Duoduo: Thank you for our hard work back then!

When Lu Jinghuai and Peng Fei walked back, they immediately saw Liu Yuan and Qian Duoduo chatting and laughing.

Upon seeing him return, Liu Yuan's gaze immediately fell upon him. Lu Jinghuai smiled and said, "I have good news for you. My mother has agreed to bring Xiao Heng over in a couple of days!"

Upon hearing this, Qian Duoduo smiled and said, "That's wonderful! I've only ever seen Xiao Heng in photos. He was just a little kid back then. But Aunt Lu, won't you encounter any danger if you bring Heng here by yourself?"

Lu Jinghuai chimed in, "Actually, my dad is almost at retirement age. He's quite relaxed at work now, and he sometimes leaves early. So, in my opinion, it's very likely that the old folks will bring Xiao Heng to Guangzhou together. Once they arrive, we can show them around Guangzhou and maybe visit Shenzhen as well."

Hearing this, Qian Duoduo nodded repeatedly in agreement and replied, "Yes, that's a really good idea. When Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu arrive, I'll take them to Window of the World. It's a collection of miniature versions of famous landmarks from all over the world. I'm sure it will broaden the horizons of the two elders and give them a great time!"

After this was settled, Qian Duoduo and Liu Yuan happily ate and chatted, this time talking about the people they had met when they lived in Beian Village.

Qian Duoduo sighed and said, "Sigh, I really rarely go back to the Northeast! Apart from two educated youths from our village who married girls from the village and have stayed there ever since, most of the rest of us have gone back to where we originally lived."

However, I do occasionally meet with Sister Niaoniao and Brother Yun. Sister Niaoniao is now teaching at a university, and at forty years old, she even became a professor, leading students and teams. Her life is fulfilling and meaningful.

Liu Yuan sighed softly and said slowly, "Back in the day, we studied together. Those thick stacks of materials were Yunyi and Niaoniao's. They were always the top students!"

Back then, it seemed like they didn't need to put in much effort to study at all, unlike me, who couldn't remember anything if I didn't touch a book or look at any materials for a day! Every time I saw them reciting and calculating, their smart brains working so fast, I felt like I was incredibly stupid.

Speaking of this, Qian Duoduo nodded repeatedly. Thinking back to her years of studying, even as someone who had taken the college entrance examination and graduated from a 211 university, she could only scratch her head at the intensity of such studies. But the couple were both gifted students. She exclaimed, "Otherwise, how could they have managed to keep top students from Tsinghua and Peking Universities as professors?"

Liu Yuan sighed, "If you hadn't dragged me to study hard back then, I probably would have ended up like Jiang Caiqin and the others, nothing special. I might have just married off any man in the village and wouldn't be living such a good life now."

Qian Duoduo couldn't help but laugh after hearing this, and comforted her, "Haha, that's true, but it's because you're willing to work hard! If you don't have that ambition, no matter how hard others try to pull you up, it won't help."

Liu Yuan felt a surge of pride upon hearing Qian Duoduo's words, and couldn't help but grin, replying, "After hearing what you said, I suddenly feel like I'm actually quite remarkable!"

Seeing this, Qian Duoduo's face lit up with a bright smile again, and she said confidently, "That's right, you're really amazing!"

Liu Yuan smiled somewhat embarrassedly, and seeing Lu Jinghuai's knowing look, she patted Qian Duoduo on the shoulder.

Qian Duoduo said with a smile, "Let me tell you, after graduating from university, Brother Yunyi started his own business, and he's doing the most fashionable thing right now: computer research and development. That's amazing!"

Liu Yuan smiled and put a piece of steamed pork rib on Qian Duoduo's plate, then said, "You've done very well all these years, especially now. Aren't you living a happier life than honey?"

Qian Duoduo glanced at Lu Yuan sitting next to him. Although he could eat with a spoon by himself, he still couldn't use chopsticks. He was like a toddler, and he needed to readjust to many things.

After the meal, Qian Duoduo escorted Liu Yuan and the others back to their hotel, and then returned to his small building, which was slated for demolition.

He had barely stepped inside, barely settled in, when a deafening knocking erupted at the door, the sound so loud it seemed to threaten to break it down. Peng Fei frowned, thinking to himself: Who is this? So arrogant!

However, he glanced upstairs first and saw that the boss hadn't come down. He wasn't in a hurry, so he called over a bodyguard and they walked towards the door together.

As the door slowly opened, four or five burly men with menacing faces stood outside. They all raised their chins, looking down at Peng Fei and the bodyguard with condescending eyes. One of them spoke up: "Hey, you're from this family, right? Listen up, you have one day to go to the development department of Laiyang Company to sign some documents!" He then deliberately waved the documents in his hand.

Upon hearing this, Peng Fei felt a surge of anger. He gave the other person a cold glare, and without a word, slammed the door shut with a loud bang right in front of them. The sound was resounding and resolute, as if a strong protest against these uninvited guests.

The sudden action stunned the men outside, leaving them momentarily at a loss. Especially the leader, who had been aggressively preparing to kick the door in anger, was stopped by a henchman who quickly grabbed him and whispered, "Boss, don't rush into anything! These guys look so much like those guys from our village who went to join the army. I heard soldiers are tough guys, really good fighters. We're so small and weak; if we really fight, we might not come out on top!"

Upon hearing this, the leader's heart skipped a beat. He carefully recalled Peng Fei and the bodyguard, and the more he thought about it, the more he realized his underling's words made sense. Thinking this, he secretly rejoiced that he hadn't acted impulsively earlier, otherwise he might have suffered a great loss today. So, he suppressed his anger, waved for the others to leave, and muttered, "That kid's lucky, let's go!" With that, the group that had come with such arrogance slunk away.
