Chapter 723 Lu Jin: The Changing View of My Future Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law!

Liu's father sat upright opposite Lu Jin, staring intently at him, as if the memory of him holding his daughter's hand in front of them had not yet faded.

Lu Jin was already used to such stares, calmly flipping through the menu while politely inquiring about the elders' preferences or dietary restrictions. Liu's mother, with a smile, patiently answered all of Lu Jin's questions.

The couple secretly wondered: what kind of background does this young man have? Although from his appearance, Lu Jin is studying at the top university in China and can easily book a suite at this five-star hotel where rooms are said to be in short supply every day, this is not something that an ordinary rich second-generation can do.

When the delicious-looking, fragrant, and flavorful Suzhou dishes were served, the couple were greatly surprised. It's rare to find such authentic Suzhou cuisine in bustling Beijing. Even Liu's mother, a connoisseur of food, couldn't help but smile with satisfaction, expressing her deep admiration for Wanmao Group's pursuit of excellence in its culinary offerings.

As everyone enjoyed their meal, Mr. and Mrs. Liu exchanged a meaningful glance. They truly hadn't expected this young man named Lu Jin to be so knowledgeable and worldly-wise. Reflecting on their own daughter's excellent education and lack of experience, they realized that compared to Lu Jin, their so-called advantages were utterly insignificant.

The fact that such an outstanding young man had fallen for his daughter filled Mr. Liu with an indescribable sense of accomplishment. Although he had briefly met Lu Jin before, his initial resistance had vanished completely. After all, boys are a dime a dozen in this world, but those who possess exceptional ability, long, beautiful legs, and handsome looks are as rare as phoenix feathers. With this in mind, the fact that his daughter had found a boyfriend no longer seemed as unacceptable as it had at first.

After dinner, everyone returned to their suites upstairs. Lu Jin didn't leave awkwardly. Instead, he walked leisurely to the coffee table, carefully took out a packet of tea from his backpack, and then skillfully started boiling water, preparing to brew a proper cup of tea.

As the deputy director of the Education Bureau, Mr. Liu was well-informed and naturally recognized various types of tea. Initially, when he saw this package of tea without any fancy packaging, he didn't pay much attention. However, in a fleeting moment, he caught a glimpse of the words "Special Supply" marked on the corner of the tea. In an instant, he froze, as if struck by lightning. Judging from this, this young man's family background was probably far more complex than it appeared; the power behind him was certainly not to be underestimated!

He watched intently as Lu Lujin demonstrated his exquisite Kung Fu tea skills. His movements were skillful and fluid, like a beautiful painting unfolding before his eyes. This authentic Kung Fu tea was simply breathtaking! Compared to the tea masters commonly found in teahouses, he was on a completely different level.

He thought to himself, "Such superb skills must have been honed through diligent practice since childhood." Just then, Lu Jin handed him a cup of freshly brewed Da Hong Pao tea.

He carefully picked up the teacup, gently inhaling the aroma, and was immediately greeted by a refreshing fragrance. He took a small sip, and the tea slid smoothly down his throat, leaving a mellow, aged sensation. Then, a subtle sweetness slowly spread through his mouth, leaving a lingering, delightful aftertaste.

As he and Lu Jin savored their fragrant tea and chatted pleasantly, he gradually realized that he had misunderstood many aspects of this young man. Whether discussing the domestic economic situation, current political events, or major and minor international incidents, this young man spoke eloquently and offered unique and insightful perspectives.

Before he knew it, their conversation was becoming increasingly congenial, and his impression of the young man was improving. As it approached nine o'clock, he couldn't help but nod inwardly, expressing his satisfaction with the young man. He thought to himself: A son-in-law like this is truly hard to find even with a lantern! Moreover, according to Lu Jin, his family background is impeccable; they've lived in Beijing for generations, and their family relationships are simple and clear. This makes many things much easier to handle. Hmm… it seems my previous worries were indeed somewhat unnecessary; otherwise, why would they have gone to such lengths to prepare so many gifts and deliver them to my door? Thinking this, a slight smile of satisfaction appeared on his lips.

Lu Jin looked at Liu's father earnestly and said, "Uncle, although I am one year younger than Tongtong, my feelings for her will not fade because of age. Although I am younger than her, I will always put her first. She is herself, your daughter, and then my girlfriend, future wife, and mother of my children." Liu's father nodded upon hearing Lu Jin's words. This was truly how one shows love.

Lu Jin sat on the soft sofa, leaning slightly forward with a gentle smile on her face, and slowly began to speak, "Uncle, let me tell you about my family!" Seeing Liu's father nod, Lu Jin continued, "My great-grandfather and great-grandmother are both still alive and well. They were both veteran revolutionaries! Back then, they participated in the war that created the new China. In those war-torn years, they braved gunfire and bullets, fighting with all their might for the country and the people. They experienced countless life-or-death trials; every battle felt like a brush with death, but they always held fast to their beliefs and never retreated. Now, they have both retired honorably and are just waiting to enjoy their grandchildren and this hard-won peaceful life."

When Lu Jin mentioned her grandparents, her eyes showed more respect as she continued, "My grandfather worked in a government agency. Over the years, he worked diligently, step by step, rising from the bottom to where he is now, and naturally he has some power in his hands. However, our family all know that my grandfather has always been an upright and honest person. He would never abuse his power just because he has some. He always taught us that we must rely on our own efforts to strive and create our own future."

Mr. Liu listened attentively, nodding occasionally. In the bustling yet complex city of Beijing, he knew perfectly well that his great-grandparents, as Lu Jin had described, were no ordinary people, having participated in those two massive and far-reaching wars in Chinese history. The connections, prestige, and hardships they had endured during those war years would naturally provide some protection for their children and grandchildren—this was only natural. After all, the continuation of a family line is not merely the continuation of bloodlines, but also the transmission of spirit and resources.
