Chapter 98 Qian Duoduo: Buy soybeans and make tofu!

Since the goal is to build a tofu workshop, some things need to be put on the agenda, such as the location of the tofu workshop, the selection of personnel, and more importantly, the raw materials. At this time of lean season, soybeans are still relatively scarce.

So even after Qian Duoduo finished his graduation exams and received his junior high school diploma, the tofu shop was still struggling with the problem of lacking soybeans as a raw material.

She thought of the piles of soybeans on her farm, and after a moment’s thought, she said, “Dad, I know someone on the black market in the county town. I want to ask him about it.”

Qian Sheng shook his head and said, "It's too risky."

Qian Duoduo said, "Dad, if we can't solve the problem of raw materials, all our efforts over this period of time will be in vain. I was just asking. If we have them, we can start production and see the return on investment sooner. Also, Dad, the people in the village can see the progress of the tofu workshop, and they are still enthusiastic. But this enthusiasm won't last long. As soon as they see that the progress of the tofu workshop has stopped, their enthusiasm will fade, and they will even become suspicious."

"Father, once the seeds of doubt are sown, these people will maintain a skeptical attitude towards your future decisions. That's the most troublesome thing. Sometimes, building trust isn't easy, but it can collapse overnight."

Qian Sheng finally nodded and asked, "How did you two meet?"

Qian Duoduo said with a smile, "It's quite a coincidence. Many years ago, he lost a batch of goods. While he was searching for them, I found a clue and helped him recover the goods. He gave me ten yuan. That's how we met!"

Qian Sheng asked, "Are you injured?"

Qian Duoduo shook his head: "I just led the way, then took the money and left."

Qian Sheng then asked, "Is he reliable?"

Qian Duoduo said, "I think so. I saw him when my mother and I were selling things on the black market, but he never spoke to me."

Qian Sheng gritted his teeth and said, "How about we let your third brother meet with him?"

Qian Duoduo glanced at Qian Sheng: "My third brother is such a famous person in the county, Dad, are you sure you want to do this?"

Qian Sheng: "Then let Qian Xiang accompany you."

Qian Duoduo knew it was impossible for him to go himself; this was already Qian Sheng's biggest concession. So he nodded and said, "Okay, let's not delay. I'll go find Brother Qian Xiang now, and the two of us will go tomorrow to ask if there are any soybeans on the black market."

Qian Sheng nodded, and as Kan Ze and Qian Duoduo walked away, he sighed. He thought that this year, apart from the land used to deliver grain quotas, half of the dry land in the village was planted with soybeans. This was a desperate gamble, and it was precisely because of this action that the villagers trusted him as the brigade leader.

There are plenty of people in the village who are pessimistic, but it is because of these people who spread some unpleasant rumors in private that the children of this family are determined to succeed and not let those people talk behind their backs!

It was precisely because he understood the children's hearts that Qian Sheng felt guilty and sad, and missed his wife even more. He thought, "You should come back after the second son's wife finishes her postpartum confinement, right?" But then the fourth son's wife found out she was pregnant, so she couldn't come back.

The fourth child's wife is now more than four months pregnant, I wonder how it is going!

Thinking of this, he thought of his third son, who was working tirelessly with the Party Secretary. Duo Duo was still young, but the third son didn't seem to be in a hurry at all!

Qian Duoduo and Qian Xiang arrived at a bungalow not far from the black market. Qian Duoduo knocked on the door, and a man with a thick beard opened it. He clearly recognized Qian Duoduo. After glancing at Qian Xiang behind her, he said to her, "Wait a moment."

Not long after, the bearded man returned and said to Qian Duoduo, "Come in."

When Qian Xiang tried to follow Qian Duoduo into the house, he was stopped by the bearded man, who said, "Wait in the yard for a bit."

Qian Xiang watched as Qian Duoduo went inside. The door wasn't closed, so he kept an eye on the room. He saw that Qian Duoduo was sitting in a spot where he could see her, but he couldn't see the people opposite her at all. He couldn't hear what they were talking about. After a short while, Qian Duoduo came out.

The bearded man opened the door for them and said, "Let's go."

After Qian Duoduo left, the bearded man returned to the main hall and looked at a middle-aged man with a pale face inside, saying, "Master Wen!"

Master Wen said, "Sanhu, prepare 500 catties of soybeans. The young lady will come in a couple of days, and we'll exchange money for goods."

Sanhu nodded and helped Master Wen back to his bedroom.

As Qian Xiang and Qian Duoduo left to head home, Qian Xiang asked, "Who is this person?"

Qian Duoduo shook his head and said, "Brother, there are some things you shouldn't pry into. It's not good for either of us."

Qian Xiang immediately shut his mouth. On the way back to the village, Qian Xiang asked again, "What did you talk about?"

Qian Duoduo said, "Our village's tofu workshop is just missing soybeans to start operations. Some people in the village are saying some unpleasant things, so I want to get some soybeans first and build the tofu workshop."

Third Brother said he had already made arrangements with the state-run restaurant in the commune to purchase the tofu from our village's tofu shop, as long as the tofu from our village tastes good.

Upon hearing this, Qian Xiang immediately exclaimed, "That would be wonderful!"

When Qian Duoduo got home, he told Qian Sheng, "The other party said they could get about 700 jin of soybeans, but it has to be cash on delivery."

Qian Sheng asked, "What about the price?"

Qian Duoduo said, "Two and a half cents a pound."

Qian Sheng was taken aback: "This price is cheaper than at the grain station. Do I need a coupon?"
