Wang Zhongshan had many questions for him when he returned, but seeing how travel-worn he looked, he couldn't bear to part with him.
"Eat quickly, you must be tired." He urged Xu Xiangyang to eat, feeling sorry for his eldest grandson.
But a man has to be upright and strong; suffering a little is nothing, he has to persevere.
Xu Xiangyang was indeed hungry, but not too tired; he was already used to it.
After the meal, watching Wang Xiumin and Grandma Wang clear the table, he took out the things he had brought back.
"These are what I brought back. Keep the ones that are useful at home." There were quite a few tickets inside, which Wang Xiumin also kept.
Xu Xiangyang also bought some random things, which he didn't categorize. Wang Xiumin will sort them out later.
After finishing all that, he was exhausted and quickly went back to tidy up, take a shower, and go to sleep.
The weather outside was still very hot. Xu Xiangyang opened the window, then closed the curtains and went to sleep.
Wang Xiumin saw from outside that the lights inside the house were off, and the family was sitting outside enjoying the cool air.
"Dad, Xiangyang has been working too hard lately. How about we kill an old hen to help him recover?" She was always worried about her child, even though she knew he was eating and drinking well every day, she was still uneasy.
Grandma Wang nodded in agreement. There were only two hens in the house, and she brought them with her when she moved.
The two eggs laid each day were also given to Wang Xiumin, but the family didn't lack eggs; Xu Xiangyang always managed to buy good eggs.
“Alright,” Wang Zhongshan said. “Stew the old hen for a day, and give it to him tonight. Didn’t I dig up a ginseng last time? Stew it for him too.”
He was only thinking about his eldest grandson; as long as he was well, he was willing to eat anything.
The next morning, Xu Xiangyang smelled a very fragrant aroma when he woke up.
After he finished washing up, he went straight to the kitchen and glanced inside. "What's this? It smells so good!"
He looked at the millet porridge cooking in the pot and thought, "No way?"
This stuff can smell so good?
Something's not right. This should smell like meat!
Wang Xiumin smiled and opened another clay pot, inside which was stewing a chicken and a small ginseng.
Xu Xiangyang was somewhat surprised, "Supplementing like this? Can you handle it?"
He saw that Wang Xiumin was in good health and had adequate nutrition. Her last check-up at the health center went very well.
Why are you suddenly eating such nourishing food? Shouldn't you be eating it during postpartum confinement?
Wang Xiumin rolled her eyes and said, "This is for you to eat. What am I supposed to eat? The doctor said I've gained too much weight and need to eat less."
She felt a bit upset when she talked about it. She hadn't been able to eat good food for many years, and now that her living conditions had finally improved, the doctor wouldn't let her eat it anymore.
What?! Who would see something delicious and not eat it? Isn't that torture?
Xu Xiangyang noticed that she had indeed gained a lot of weight; there were obvious stretch marks on her arms, and he guessed that her stomach was covered in pregnancy marks.
If you suddenly gain weight like this, your skin won't be able to handle it, and it'll definitely break out.
"I won't even drink the soup, let alone eat it!" She glared at her son, annoyed.
She wants to eat it too; it smells delicious.
Xu Xiangyang smiled and said, "Didn't you bring back two cans of milk powder yesterday? Drink a cup whenever you have time, as long as you get enough nutrition. Eat less rice."
He knew Wang Xiumin loved to eat, so the doctor's words must have made her uncomfortable. Wasn't that going to be fatal?
For a foodie, not being able to eat delicious food is the real problem.
Wang Xiumin certainly likes drinking milk powder, but she knows that getting it is quite expensive. If you have a quota, it costs eight yuan a can, and if you don't, it costs more than ten yuan.
"Forget it, I heard from Aunt Liu this morning that the milk powder costs ten yuan a can. I have to keep it; I can't drink it." She said very unwillingly.
I had a cup this morning, and it was so delicious! Much better than sugary drinks.
Sugar water is nothing compared to milk powder.
Seeing how distressed she looked, Xu Xiangyang said, "It's alright, I know where I can buy it, don't worry."
He has plenty of these things in his space; besides the corn for export, he has the most baby and toddler items.
Wang Xiumin didn't believe him at all, and turned around to serve him a bowl of chicken soup with a chicken leg in it.
"Hurry up and eat. This stew was started last night and has been cooking all night. It's sure to be delicious."
Xu Xiangyang took the bowl, then took a sip. "Hmm, it tastes good."
Chicken that isn't fed with feed is definitely the best-tasting, and the soup is even better.
After breakfast, Xu Xiangyang tidied up his room. He didn't have to go to work today, and the same would be true tomorrow.
So this time he's going to clean his house and make it look nicer.
The walls are white and cannot be moved, and the floor is all cement, so it cannot be moved either.
He took out one of the remaining semiconductors and placed it on the table.
They decorated the window again, sewing on the gauze to make a screen window.
It's too hot to sleep at night, and there are mosquitoes even when the window is open, so this is the only way.
A curtain was hung in front of the bed so that no one outside could see that he was actually sleeping in the bed.
After tidying up, Wang Xiumin looked at the room and pouted, "Why are we tidying it up so tightly? We're not little girls anymore, why are we afraid to see?"
Grandma Wang happened to walk into the house and heard this, so she said, "That's how it should be. Who's like you two, sleeping without even closing the door?"
Except when Xu Xiangyang was sleeping in the living room and would close the door for Wang Xiumin and her husband, they slept with the door open the rest of the time.
Wang Xiumin didn't think much of it, saying, "What's wrong with me? I didn't do anything."
"You child! You're getting more and more out of line!" Grandma Wang slapped her on the back and glared at her in annoyance.
My grandson isn't even married yet, why are you talking about everything?
Xu Xiangyang smiled and went out first; he couldn't get involved in this matter.
Wang Xiumin realized what was happening, then pursed her lips and remained silent.
If you don't want to say, then don't say...
Xu Xiangyang noticed that only Wang Zhongshan was left in the yard, spending his time fixing things here and there, which was quite boring.
"Grandpa," he said as he walked over.
When Wang Zhongshan saw him coming, he nodded and said, "Rest for two days and catch up on your sleep. I'll tell your grandma and the others to keep their voices down in a bit."
The two of them are always making a lot of noise in the house, I don't know what they're doing.
Xu Xiangyang didn't care about any of that. "No need. I've already slept well. Young people don't have that many worries."
He's been doing well lately, getting plenty of sleep, and regaining his energy after a night's rest.
It has to be said, you have to be young to pull off something like that; most people couldn't handle it.
Wang Zhongshan looked at his grandson with immense pride. Although he might not have sons or grandsons in his next life, his eldest grandson was truly remarkable.
"Xiangyang, work hard in the future. Grandpa has high hopes for you." He offered a few words of encouragement, which were also heartfelt.
Xu Xiangyang smiled and nodded, "Grandpa, don't worry, I'll definitely amount to something!"
Not just successful, but extremely successful!
