Chapter 205 The Old Chief

For the next few days, Xu Xiangyang didn't go to work, and no one in his family mentioned the matter.

Try not to tell anyone, and just serve him the best food and drink every day.

When Xu Xiangyang woke up that morning, he saw that the weather had cleared up and his mood improved as well.

It's been snowing for the past few days, and the snow in the yard has piled up like a small mountain.

He glanced at his watch; it was time to get up for work again, but he didn't have to go to work this year.

"Xiangyang, dinner's ready!" Grandma Wang called out from inside the house.

Xu Xiangyang immediately went to the main room, where a stove was burning and it was incredibly warm.

Although I can't wear anything as extravagant as a tank top, I can wear a shirt now without shivering from the cold.

"Eating dumplings first thing in the morning?" Xu Xiangyang poured himself a glass of water and then sat down in a chair.

Grandma Wang smiled and said, "It's your grandpa's birthday today, let's have some dumplings."

"Birthday?" Xu Xiangyang was taken aback for a moment, then said a little embarrassedly, "Grandpa, look at me, I didn't remember."

To be honest, since he came here, he has hardly had any time to care about his family.

Aside from eating, drinking, and relieving myself, I really can't take care of anything else.

Wang Zhongshan wasn't angry at all, and said with a smile, "It's nothing, just a birthday. Who doesn't have a birthday every year? Even if you don't, it's just that. You're making a big deal out of it!"

Grandma Wang rolled her eyes. She thought, "He messed up his birthday celebration!"

However, she didn't say anything. After living together for a lifetime, how could she not know the personalities of her husband and wife?

Wang Zhongshan was cold on the outside but warm on the inside; he didn't say it out loud, but he cared about everyone.

Xu Xiangyang, however, was slow to realize that he really didn't care whether his family members had birthdays or not.

Back in those days, who even talked about birthdays? It was hard enough to get an egg, let alone celebrate a birthday.

It's only now that life is a bit better that I can remember these things.

"Grandpa, I'll cook you a nice meal at noon!" He hadn't prepared any gifts, and his family didn't need anything.

Wang Zhongshan smiled and nodded, "Okay, I'll be waiting for you to cook something delicious for lunch."

The group of people started eating breakfast with smiles on their faces.

After dinner, Xu Xiangyang had nothing to do, so he swept the snow in the yard to exercise.

Just then, there was a knock on the front door.

He turned around to open the door, and was stunned for a moment when he saw the person in front of him.

"Why did you come here?" Xu Xiangyang asked, somewhat surprised.

Gu Panyun pursed her lips and said, "I'm sorry, I just found out you were fired. It's because of me..."

Before she could finish speaking, Xu Xiangyang interrupted her, "Comrade Gu, you don't need to worry about it. I never intended to do this job for long anyway. This isn't because of you, so don't blame yourself."

He was speaking from the heart, especially since those people were causing trouble for him.

The day Gu Panyun was arrested was entirely their attempt to lure themselves out.

The little girl was also beaten and almost humiliated, all because of herself.

Saying that someone deserves their bad luck is too hurtful.

Without Xu Xiangyang, how could she have been arrested?

Therefore, the two people owe each other nothing.

Xu Xiangyang lost her job, and her mother felt relieved. Isn't that good?

But if Zhang Caihua comes back to cause trouble, things won't end well. She doesn't think everyone is easy to bully.

Gu Panyun's expression was complicated upon hearing his words. She then said, "Those three people froze to death in the dilapidated house; it's already been dealt with. As for the work matter, I'm sorry, I'll go back and tell them that you and I have nothing to do with each other."

They naturally had no connection. Because of her infatuation, she even lost Xu Xiangyang's job, so how could she dare to get close to this young man again?

He was afraid that his family would suffer unfair treatment again because of him.

Xu Xiangyang wasn't surprised to hear that the three people had frozen to death, because he had expected it.

He stunned them with electricity before he left and also put out the fire.

The constant fault-finding and this incident really made him angry.

So, get on your way.

He understood Gu Panyun's attitude. Everyone goes through puberty, but he couldn't hold this young girl back.

She will meet even better people in the future.

Thinking of this, Xu Xiangyang said, "Comrade Gu, we are not suitable for each other, in every way. You will meet someone better in the future, and I hope you will be happy."

He had a smile on his face, and the midday sun made his smile even warmer.

Looking at that warm smile, Gu Panyun felt colder than the coldest winter.

She controlled her emotions, then smiled and nodded, "Then I'll be going now."

After saying that, she left without looking back.

Gu Panyun thought to herself that she would indeed meet someone better in the future, but that person wouldn't be him.

Xu Xiangyang sighed. He didn't dislike the girl; in fact, he had a slight liking for her, but that was all.

If they were to become partners, not only would there be many troubles in the future, but he would also be too busy to handle everything.

"Young comrade, may I ask if this is Wang Zhongshan's home?" An elderly man in his sixties stood at the door, wearing a military overcoat over a gray Zhongshan suit.

Xu Xiangyang nodded. "This is it. May I ask who you are?"

He looked the man up and down and realized that this man was no ordinary person. His clothes and appearance were different, and his aura was even stronger than that of Wang Zhongshan.

"Old Chief!" At this moment, Wang Zhongshan ran out.

He had just seen someone standing there looking for a long time, and upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the old leader.

"Hahaha! Zhongshan! Are you alright?" The old commander patted his shoulder with a smile, and the two shook hands firmly.

After more than a decade apart, their eyes seemed to hold a multitude of emotions.

"Old Chief, let's go inside and talk, it's cold outside." Wang Zhongshan warmly led the people inside.

Xu Xiangyang closed the door behind him and followed him inside.

The old leader glanced at Granny Wang and said, "Is this your sister-in-law, Suying?"

When Wang Zhongshan went to the front lines before, Grandma Wang visited him once, and they met.

Grandma Wang quickly stood up and said, "Hello, old commander."

She had always heard that Wang Zhongshan was being taken care of by his superiors there. The two of them met once, and then never saw each other again.

The old commander laughed heartily and nodded heavily, "Great! I never thought we'd meet again. Seeing you all doing well makes me so happy!"

Xu Xiangyang brewed some tea, brought it over, and placed it on the table.

Wang Zhongshan stopped him and said to the old leader, "Commander, this is my eldest grandson! Xu Xiangyang."

"Xiangyang, call him Grandpa Lu."

Xu Xiangyang, with a well-behaved expression, bowed to him and said, "Hello, Grandpa Lu."

The old commander nodded in satisfaction, "Good, young man, you're really good."

Wang Zhongshan nodded proudly, his face flushed. His eldest grandson was indeed excellent, and quite excellent at that!
