Chapter 220 Secret Base

The two entered the house one after the other, while Xu Guangtian looked over curiously from outside.

"Sigh, now everyone talks behind people's backs." He clicked his tongue, feeling uncomfortable.

Wang Xiumin patted him on the shoulder from behind and said, "Hurry up and go soothe the child! You have so much to do every day!"

Xu Guangtian pouted, feeling wronged, and then obediently went to help soothe the child.

On the other side, Xu Xiangyang poured Wang Zhongshan a cup of tea and then sat down next to him.

"Grandpa, what's going on? Why are you being so mysterious?" he asked, somewhat curious.

Generally, family matters are discussed in front of everyone; there are very few times when they are discussed in private.

Wang Zhongshan sighed and said, "Isn't it all because of you? You met that old chief minister a while ago, didn't you?"

"Hmm." Xu Xiangyang nodded, and as soon as he heard that it was related to him, he immediately perked up his ears.

“Now that you’re working in a government agency, I thought I should take you to interview the old Chief Zhang’s family.” A sly glint flashed in Wang Zhongshan’s eyes. “I heard that the old Chief Zhang’s eldest son is a clerk there, so we can’t not meet him.”

Xu Xiangyang's eyes widened. Good heavens! He thought Wang Zhongshan was quite upright and wouldn't bother anyone!

This time I've given him a surprise!

He asked hesitantly, "Grandpa, isn't coming here like this too obvious?"

That's absolutely right.

Wang Zhongshan gave his eldest grandson an approving look. "Of course, it won't do to come to my door like this, but when the old chief Zhang came to visit me before, I went back to check on him, and there was nothing wrong with it."

He had thought about this problem, but he didn't have a good excuse.

Xu Xiangyang thought for a moment and then said, "Grandpa, I have a wild ginseng here, how about I give it to him?"

We have wild ginseng at home that we soak in liquor, which my father drinks often, so he knows it's a good thing.

When the first batch of liquor came last time, he couldn't bear to give it away; at most, the two of them each drank a jin of liquor.

He couldn't help but nod. "Okay, this is good. It just so happens that the old chief isn't in good health."

Now we have an excuse and some good stuff; all that's left is to come over.

The grandfather and grandson pondered for more than half an hour before finally adjourning the meeting, satisfied.

Xu Xiangyang was unaware that his maternal grandfather actually liked to use connections.

The problem was that things didn't go smoothly last time when we tried to use connections; we did such a big favor, and they just replaced us with a temporary worker.

He was the beneficiary of this, so he felt a warmth in his heart. Why did Wang Zhongshan take him to see the old chief minister? Wasn't it because of him?

Working under Secretary Lu from now on, how could I not stand out?

Whether they're willing or not is another matter entirely; for now, we can only hope that everything goes smoothly.

The next morning, Xu Xiangyang didn't go out. He organized some things in his space, which he would put in the house he bought later.

At the very least, there should be some basic necessities, such as a bed, and tables and chairs.

I didn't even consider cooking; this isn't like living a normal life.

He hadn't yet checked out the house across the street. After organizing the necessary items, Xu Xiangyang emerged from his spatial dimension.

I changed into some casual clothes, grabbed my keys, and went to the small courtyard across the street.

The yard was practically empty, and the house looked like it had been ransacked, with only garbage left.

Xu Xiangyang sighed and cleared the trash out of the house. Fortunately, Aunt Liu hadn't gone completely mad; at least the windowpanes were still intact.

He tidied up the trash and piled it in the yard, planning to have Xu Guangtian come and clean it up later.

As for why you don't put it in space and find a place to throw it away?

Who puts trash in the space? He can put things like plastic bags or packaging in there, but not trash!

After cleaning up the trash, he went straight back; he didn't plan to stay here.

He plans to wait and see, and if he gets too busy with work, he intends to live alone.

If he's not too busy, he can wait until his two younger brothers are a bit older before moving out.

After leaving there, Xu Xiangyang didn't go home. Instead, he took the company bus to his secret base.

Arrange the beds, cabinets, tables, and chairs in the room neatly.

Aside from the lack of cooking facilities, this place is somewhat presentable.

Xu Xiangyang nodded in satisfaction, then prepared to go out and buy a sewing machine.

I've been thinking about buying a sewing machine for a while now, but I haven't had the time.

I finally got a vacation and had some time, so I quickly got to work.

He went home first to get the stroller, and then went to the store to buy things.

Upon arriving at the department store, Xu Xiangyang immediately picked out a Butterfly brand sewing machine, which was quite popular.

One hundred and thirty yuan plus a sewing ticket!

Although the price is a bit high, it's still quite reasonable considering the convenience.

They all like to make their own clothes, so buying a sewing machine is the right thing to do.

Xu Xiangyang bought a sewing machine and put it on the cart, which was really troublesome.

If I had known this would happen, I would have been better off asking Xu Guangtian to come along.

When Wang Xiumin got home, she saw the sewing machine and slapped her thigh.

"Oh my god, why did you buy another sewing machine? Don't we already have one?" she said, somewhat speechless.

The house they built a few days ago, and now they've bought a sewing machine. What kind of family is this, so extravagant!

Xu Xiangyang was taken aback. "Do we have a sewing machine at home?" How come he didn't know?

"Why don't you use a sewing machine? I see you usually sew your clothes by hand." He sounded quite innocent, too.

Wang Xiumin rolled her eyes. "You don't even need a sewing machine to sew up a hole! You wouldn't need one for a child's clothes!"

She said helplessly, "You forgot that you bought me a sewing machine. I've been keeping it hidden away and never used it. I only take it out to use when making larger garments."

The sewing machine is a valuable item; when she's not using it, she puts it behind the cabinet so it won't get bumped or knocked over.

Xu Xiangyang sighed, "Alright, let's keep it."

Anyway, it's impossible for him to send it back.

Wang Xiumin felt bad; buying something she wouldn't use was a waste of money.

"Huh?" She watched Xu Xiangyang pat his butt and leave, and stamped her feet in frustration.

Where am I supposed to put this thing? It's useless! I'm speechless!

Xu Xiangyang didn't care about all that; it was their fault for not using sewing machines normally.

If I had seen it myself, I wouldn't have bought it.

Yes, that's it.

Back in his room, he first prepared his clothes for work the next day.

He had arranged to visit his old leader, Wang Zhongshan, next week. There was no rush; after all, they had only met less than two weeks prior, and to come so soon would seem a bit hasty.

Xu Xiangyang sat in the chair, pondering for a long time, feeling that no matter when he went, it would definitely make people overthink.

Isn't it obvious?

The eldest son of the man is the Party Secretary. He had just started working there and brought gifts to his door.

This is somewhat inappropriate.

Xu Xiangyang touched his chin, still no good. He would have to discuss this with the old man again later.

Those people are all shrewd; how could they not guess what they're thinking?

It's so obvious, it's practically written all over their face. Just don't make them feel offended; it's such a rare opportunity.
