Chapter 354 The Cerium Ministers' Meeting

The next morning, Xu Xiangyang went to the garment factory after breakfast.

Inside the small pavilion at the entrance sat a man, who was the factory's gatekeeper.

He glanced at it, then looked away and headed straight for his office.

Although he didn't know what the gatekeeper had been doing last night and why he hadn't returned for so long, he wasn't going to confront him.

On his way here, he didn't see anyone in the snow, and even the snow pit where the person had fallen had been cleared away.

With a snowfall in the middle of the night, it vanished without a trace.

I don't know if that person cleaned it after waking up, or if someone else cleaned it for him...

Xu Xiangyang snapped out of his thoughts and then made a call to the administrative office.

"Hello? Factory manager's office. Have Secretary Liang come over." He said calmly, then hung up the phone.

Less than a minute later, there was a knock on the office door.

"Come in."

Liang Wenfang walked in, glanced at Xu Xiangyang, and said, "Director Xu."

She didn't ask what was wrong; if there was anything, the leader would naturally give instructions.

Xu Xiangyang nodded, explained the matter, and asked her to go to the gatekeeper.

It's more appropriate for her to ask than for me to ask.

Twenty minutes later, Liang Wenfang returned.

"Director Xu, yesterday, Old Lin from the gatehouse suddenly had diarrhea last night, so he stayed in the toilet for more than two hours." Liang Wenfang said, though she herself was a little puzzled.

Logically speaking, everyone has eaten the food at the factory before, and the security guard always gives an extra portion at noon, so everyone knows whether there's a problem or not.

Why did I suddenly get diarrhea?

She didn't know what was going on either, so she looked at Xu Xiangyang with a puzzled expression.

Did something happen after get off work? Did something go missing from the factory?

Xu Xiangyang glanced at her, ignoring her curious little eyes, and said, "Alright, I understand. You can go back to your work."

Curiosity killed the cat; the fewer people who know about him, the better.

When Liang Wenfang saw that he was no longer going to say anything, she was a little disappointed, but she still obediently went back.

After all, she wasn't qualified to interfere in the factory manager's affairs; asking too many questions would only annoy her.

Xu Xiangyang watched her leave, a sense of doubt creeping into his mind. Diarrhea lasting two hours? That's clearly impossible.

If someone has diarrhea for more than two hours, their intestines will probably come out, right?

However, it wasn't impossible. He sighed, still feeling uneasy.

After thinking for a moment, he asked the gatekeepers to add two more people to the patrol.

Normally, there are two security guards working in shifts, and two others patrol the factory.

But now it seems that two people a day is clearly not enough.

Having two more people can be helpful; at least there will be more people moving around.

In the afternoon, Xu Xiangyang went to a municipal meeting again, and this time he met with Liao Shichang.

This person remained as meticulous and serious as ever, with a solemn expression on his face.

"Xiao Xu." His expression softened considerably upon seeing Xu Xiangyang.

The garment factory recently started operations, and although he hasn't had time to go there, he has heard that things are going well.

Xu Xiangyang smiled and nodded, "Chief Liao, you've been doing well lately, haven't you?"

Let's talk about work later. We can't just start talking about work as soon as we meet, can we?

No matter what kind of leader they are, they can't stand this.

Liao Shizhang gave a soft "hmm" and then said, "Stay after the meeting, I want to say a few words to you."

Although he didn't know exactly what to say, Xu Xiangyang still responded positively.

The meeting began quickly. Several people entered the conference room, with Liao Shizhang sitting at the head of the table, and the others taking their seats.

Xu Xiangyang glanced around and realized that apart from Xiao Zhenyu from the Grain Bureau, he didn't recognize anyone else.

It seems my network still needs to be developed; at the very least, I need to get to know as many people as possible through this job.

The group exchanged glances, but no one spoke.

Liao Shichang said everything simply and clearly, and then came the most important part.

"Last year, all the factories achieved roughly the same targets, so this year we'll raise the targets even higher. As for the exact amount, we'll send you a document later, which will clearly state the tasks."

"And then there are the new instructions from above..."

The meeting lasted for two hours, and everyone was quite tired when it ended.

After all, this was the first meeting of the year, and there was a lot to cover.

The secretaries had been taking notes, so as the meeting ended, they relaxed their fingers.

Xu Xiangyang glanced at the time; it was already past four o'clock. Before the meeting, Director Liao had said he needed to speak with him about something, and he hadn't forgotten.

"Secretary Liang, you can go back to the factory first. Just leave the meeting minutes on my desk." He sent his secretary back first, since the two of them had come by bicycle anyway.

The factory hasn't assigned any vehicles yet; everyone is waiting, and it will take time.

With a car, it will be much more convenient for Xu Xiangyang to go out. He won't even need a driver; he can drive himself.

Of course, we don't know if others will do the same.

The factory will also be hiring drivers; I heard they've already started recruiting.

Thinking about this, he felt much more at ease. If he were to frequently have to ride a bicycle to meetings, that would truly be the death of him.

Liang Wenfang didn't ask any further questions, nodded to indicate that she understood, and then left with the others.

Xu Xiangyang glanced back at Liao Shizhang, who was still talking to other people who had come to attend the meeting.

After thinking for a moment, he walked over quietly and stood to the side.

"Chief Liao, then I won't bother you any longer. I'll visit you again when I have time," Xiao Zhenyu said with a gentle smile.

Liao Shichang was also smiling, with a hint of anticipation in his eyes.

Xu Xiangyang, standing not far away, saw all this and understood that the two people were likely to become close friends.

Although Xiao Zhenyu is only the deputy director of the Grain Bureau now, he has connections in Beiping and was transferred from Beiping.

If nothing unexpected happens, this person will be transferred back to Beiping in two or three years.

By then, they won't just be factory directors or bureau chiefs anymore, but leaders in substantive positions, wielding real power.

After everyone left, Xu Xiangyang walked to the opposite side of Liao Shizhang.

"Xiao Xu, come with me for a moment." Liao Shizhang led him to the empty office next door.

Secretary Zheng glanced at Xu Xiangyang, then stood outside waiting unwillingly.

Actually, he had disliked Xu Xiangyang for a long time, but since he had just started working with Liao Shizhang, he couldn't do much and hadn't had the time.

Looking at him today, it's clear that Xu Xiangyang is doing better and better, which is truly enviable.

But he didn't have much to brag about...

A glint of cunning flashed in Secretary Zheng's eyes, followed by a sly smile on his face.

"Chief Liao, is there any other work?" Xu Xiangyang asked.

He had received a work assignment during a previous meeting, and after glancing at it, it seemed to have quite high requirements.

Liao Shi sighed and said, "The project team has recently finished. If you need anything, you can come to the municipal government to find me. Also, there's something else I want to tell you."

As he spoke, his expression turned serious.
