Chapter 92 Why Not Make Money?

Xu Xiangyang knew he had been noticed, so he went to sit by the wine cabinet for a while and had some wine.

This was to see how things went; if someone was watching him, he would stop and go home.

After ordering a low-alcohol drink, Xu Xiangyang sat in a corner observing the others.

The stakes here aren't high; most people are from the neighborhood who come here to relax when they have free time.

It was clear that they were quite familiar with the dealers, and some of them could even chat for a bit.

Some people leave as soon as they lose their chips, without lingering.

While Xu Xiangyang was sitting, another person appeared in front of him, holding a wine glass and chips in his hand.

"Alone?" The man sat down next to him and casually placed the chip tray on the table.

Xu Xiangyang glanced at him and figured this person must be from the casino.

When he came in, he had been sitting and drinking the whole time, without going to any of the gambling tables.

"Hmm," he responded, then picked up his drink and took a sip.

Seeing that he was not talkative, the man took the initiative to strike up a conversation, "The stakes here are not high, but it's very lively. People who play for higher stakes usually go to other casinos."

Xu Xiangyang didn't expect him to say that. After all, he was just here to have fun, and it was obvious whether he was having a good time or not.

To be honest, winning two thousand dollars in chips today is quite a lot; it's enough for him to work from home for four years.

However, Xu Xiangyang had other ideas, so he went along with his wishes.

"Oh? Where?" He looked quite interested.

Seeing his interest, a sly glint flashed in the man's eyes. "Hehe, over there you need 30,000 yuan in chips to get in. Do you have that much?"

It wasn't that he looked down on Xu Xiangyang, but that 30,000 yuan now was not the same as 30,000 yuan in later years.

With 30,000 yuan, how much purchasing power would that be? Buying a storefront would be a piece of cake.

Xu Xiangyang smiled, feigning indifference, "Thirty thousand yuan? That's nothing! As long as we have fun, the amount doesn't matter."

Sure enough, upon hearing this, the man's face lit up with joy.

"My name is Zhang Da. Come to the bar entrance at this time tomorrow and I'll take you to the casino!" He said, then stood up and left.

Xu Xiangyang watched his departing figure with a thoughtful expression.

He could guess some of this person's intentions; he just wanted to send him to the casino so he could get a cut if he lost.

Xu Xiangyang isn't brainless; how can he survive without some skill?

He got up, went to the bar to exchange his chips, and then went back with the money.

Zhang Da may have brought people there for money, but he also had another intention: to swindle them and run away with the money.

That's not impossible. After all, there are all sorts of people here. This place is a mixed bag. He's an outsider, dressed in a high-profile manner, and acts like he's got money to burn. Who wouldn't want to come and mess with him?

Back at the hotel, Xu Xiangyang didn't enter the space this time; he took a nap outside.

The space is nice, but it's always quiet and silent, which gets old after a while.

The next morning, Xu Xiangyang went straight to a large shopping mall and bought everything from transistor radios and sewing machines to electric fans and other household appliances.

There's no need to buy a TV or refrigerator; he already has plenty of those in his space. It's just that he doesn't have anything else.

Even if you have it, you can't take it out; it's not suitable for this era.

Most imported watches look pretty much the same; the only difference is the craftsmanship, so there's not much of a problem.

Xu Xiangyang is usually very cautious and rarely takes out anything that is not appropriate for this time of day, which also helps him keep himself safe.

After shopping, he went to the clothing street, where the clothes were very cheap, much cheaper than in big department stores.

Although some of the clothes in the space were older styles, they were still considered modern by today's standards.

Xu Xiangyang found an elderly shop owner whose clothes were of average style, so he asked if the shop owner had any unsold stock.

Upon hearing this, the boss immediately looked worried.

"Young man, you're reopening old wounds. Our store accumulates a lot of inventory every year, and we can't seem to get rid of it."

Although the changes in eras were not as rapid as in later times, it was still possible for things to look different every year.

Especially since there are all sorts of people here, including many in the fashion world, popular items usually change every year.

Xu Xiangyang was delighted to hear this, saying, "This is exactly the kind of person I'm looking for."

He paused for a moment, then said hesitantly, "I'd like to check your inventory. If the price is right, I can buy it."

The pop culture scene in mainland China is pretty good, so what they keep hidden away here becomes the best stuff there.

"You want inventory? Young man, let me tell you first, those things are hard to sell." The boss was also worried that he was young and might end up with unsold stock.

The price of the items doesn't matter, but they can easily overwhelm a family.

Seeing his sincerity, Xu Xiangyang said, "It's okay, boss. I have a place that sells them. Let me take a look first."

The two talked for a long time. When the boss saw that he really wanted to buy it, he asked his wife to come and watch over it while he took Xu Xiangyang to see the warehouse.

Upon entering the warehouse, Xu Xiangyang looked at the piles of clothes and thought to himself that this business really tied up a lot of money.

"This one, and those over there." The boss pointed to several large boxes at the very back of the warehouse.

Xu Xiangyang went over and opened it to take a look. It was similar to what was sold in the city's department stores, and some of them were even more attractive than those in the department stores.

Judging by appearance, there are probably over a thousand pieces of clothing in these boxes, which is quite a lot.

"How much?" he asked.

The shop owner saw that he wanted to buy, but the words of persuasion were on the tip of his tongue but he didn't say them.

"Thin clothes, no matter what kind, cost 80 cents each; thick ones cost one dollar."

This price doesn't make any money at all; in fact, it'll result in a loss. But there's no other way; these clothes are just sitting in the warehouse anyway, so it's better to turn them into cash.

When Xu Xiangyang heard that it was such a good deal, he thought the boss must have lost money.

However, he wasn't going to pass up a chance to make money, and besides, if he didn't buy it, the clothes would just be thrown away anyway.

So he nodded in agreement, "Okay, you help me find someone to deliver it to the place I specify, and I'll pay the worker."

The boss didn't care; he found a few people to help him deliver the goods to a warehouse.

Xu Xiangyang rented this warehouse in the morning for just one day, mainly for the convenience of buying things.

Otherwise, if so much stuff just disappears after we leave, people will think we've seen a ghost.

The clothes cost over five thousand yuan, but Xu Xiangyang didn't feel the pinch at all; he was going to earn back more than double that amount.

After shopping all day, he randomly found a place to eat in the evening, and then went to wait for Zhang Da at the entrance of the bar.

He has money too, it's just a matter of whether Zhang Da can help him make a fortune.

Xu Xiangyang's trip was a one-off transaction, so he definitely needed to buy as much stuff as possible to make it worthwhile.
