Chapter 4 Going to Town

We finally arrived in town.

"Brother Liu, let's go to the commune first?" Gu Ranzhou was swaying all the way, feeling a little dizzy and lacking confidence. He didn't know which direction the commune was, so he had to let Liu Laogen lead the way.

"Okay." Liu Laogen drove the ox cart skillfully towards the commune.

"Lu Zhiqing, what are you going to do? Are you planning to walk around the town or go directly to the supply agency?" Gu Ranzhou asked lightly after taking a breath with his lips turning pale.

"Go with you to the supply company to find out the situation?" Lu Zhenchuan looked at Gu Ranzhou's pale lips and felt a little distressed for some reason.

"Alright."

"Xiao Zhou, how do I buy tiles and bricks at the supply agency?" Liu Laogen asked.

"Brother Liu, after we have selected the materials and they have loaded them onto the truck, you can take the person I hired to help drive back. I still need to buy some things in town, so I'll catch up with you after I'm done. Is that okay with you?" Gu Ranzhou came over and took a sip of water before asking.

"Okay, of course. You're doing this because you trust me, Liu Laogen. I can't do anything to disappoint you. We've been from the same village for so many years."

"Thank you, Brother Liu."

Arrived at the supply company.

"Comrade, what are you doing?" asked the staff in the supply agency.

"Comrade, I'm here to buy tiles and bricks. I'm Gu Ranzhou, a villager from Shanqiao Village." Gu Ranzhou didn't have much emotion, he just spoke in the usual way.

"Comrade Gu, do you have the approval slip?"

"Yes, this is the approval note from our village chief." Gu Ranzhou said, then took out the approval note from his pocket and handed it over.

"Well, this is newly fired by our supply company. Look at the quality. You're lucky you bought it in time." The director took the approval slip, examined it carefully, and asked, "But comrade, it seems you bought a bit too many tiles. Are you planning to rebuild?"

"No, comrade, our house is at the foot of the mountain, and these bricks are mostly used to build a wall. We have children at home and we are afraid that animals will come down from the mountain at night. It's not safe, so we built a wall. Everyone in the village knows this." Gu Ranzhou did not hide too much and directly told the reason.

"Oh, now I understand. How expensive are these tiles?" The director of the supply agency nodded and finally understood, then took people to the pile of tiles.

Gu Ranzhou saw tiles and bricks piled up all around him. He took a quick look and found that the quality was indeed good.

"Comrade, just give me a real price."

"50 yuan, considering you bought so much, it's a good deal for me. Otherwise, at these prices, it would be at least 60 yuan."

"Okay." Gu Ranzhou obeyed and felt that it was indeed cheap. After all, the other party offered 10 yuan cheaper. No matter how small a mosquito is, it is still a piece of meat.

The director of the supply company was naturally delighted to see that a batch of bricks had been sold, and he couldn't help but ask, "How are you going to take them back, Comrade Gu?"

Gu Ranzhou: "Director, do you think there are any ox carts or something like that at the supply company? Hire a few for me. After all, I bought so much and it's impossible for me to run back and forth, right?"

"That's true, but Comrade Gu can't say he's hired now. If people say he's a capitalist, he'll be criticized if he's caught." The director of the supply company couldn't say it out loud.

"Asking for help is not like reselling goods."

Afterwards, Gu Ranzhou hired five ox carts for a total of one dollar. Unexpectedly, they all got busy. These people were not enough, so Lu Zhenchuan also came to help. It took him half an hour to load all the tiles and bricks onto the ox carts.

"Brother Liu, you're in trouble. I'll catch up with you soon." Gu Ranzhou instructed.

"Don't worry, leave it to me, Liu Laogen. I'm going to make this clear today." Liu Laogen patted his chest and promised that no matter whether it was friendship or Gu Ranzhou's 30 cents, he had to get this matter done properly.

The people invited were all veterans and knew their way around ox carts. Liu Laogen was leading the way, so Gu Ranzhou was not too worried.
