"Then why don't you go shopping and buy what you want first?" Gu Ranzhou was going to do some business, and it was not convenient to take Lu Zhenchuan with him, as the two of them had no relationship. Gu Ranzhou wanted to go out and resell goods, so of course it would not be convenient for the two of them to go together.
"Can't I buy it too?" Lu Zhenchuan also saw Gu Ranzhou's thoughts and had the same idea as him about what he was going to do.
"Of course, but do you know where I'm going?" Gu Ranzhou put his hand on Lu Zhenchuan's shoulder and spoke slowly into his ear.
"I know, that's why I want to go with you. I won't follow you when we get there. You go and do your thing." Lu Zhenchuan's heart trembled, and his voice was a little hoarse.
"You trust me so much, aren't you afraid that I will report you?" Gu Ranzhou's tone was still teasing.
"I believe you won't. After all, you don't look like that kind of person." Lu Zhenchuan didn't know what to say next.
"That's honest enough. Let's go, Comrade Lu." Gu Ranzhou said in a somewhat ambiguous tone, but without much hesitation, he walked ahead, with Lu Zhenchuan following behind. Gu Ranzhou liked the way Lu Zhenchuan handled things; he didn't act fake in front of him, and more importantly, he didn't flatter him, saying one thing in front of him and another behind his back. Instead, he acted according to his own way, so he naturally didn't get angry.
Lu Zhenchuan and Gu Ranzhou acted separately in the black market, one buying and the other selling. After a while, Gu Ranzhou sold 200 coins and various tickets in the black market. It was no wonder that he made a lot of money. It was the 1960s and resources were in serious shortage. Even in the 1970s, the situation was not much better. It was only in the 1980s that it got better. In the countryside, people were self-sufficient except for handing it over. For people in towns and cities, buying things was not so convenient. Not only were there purchase restrictions, but they might not even be able to buy anything.
Gu Ranzhou looked at the ticket in his hand and felt a little regretful. He bought so many things but couldn't get a bicycle ticket. No wonder, this bicycle is so rare.
Lu Zhenchuan bought what he wanted.
The things Lu Zhenchuan bought were fine, but Gu Ranzhou was only dragging a full sack. No one knew what he bought. The most important thing was that the large sack Gu Ranzhou was dragging was very conspicuous.
"Have you bought it?" Lu Zhenchuan looked at Gu Ranzhou dragging the sack and handed his things over, then picked up the sack.
"Yeah." Gu Ranzhou was stunned for a moment but did not refuse and took the other party's things.
"Let's go." Lu Zhenchuan didn't think it was that heavy, as he had carried it before during training.
"What a pity! I originally wanted to get a bicycle ticket to buy a bicycle?" Gu Ranzhou said lightly.
"Did you get it?" Although Lu Zhenchuan was a little surprised, he didn't say it out loud.
"No, I've been searching the black market for a long time but couldn't find a bicycle ticket." Gu Ranzhou waved his hand in disapproval.
Because Gu Ranzhou couldn't get a bicycle ticket and couldn't stay in the town for long, the two had to go to where the ox carts were parked. Fortunately, some people from the neighboring village came to the town to attend the market and there were ox carts available for them to ride.
Gu Ranzhou was carrying something in his hand, and Lu Zhenchuan put the sack on his body on the ox cart and gave the driver an extra 2 cents.
"Get in the car, get in the car, hurry up."
"Don't dilly-dally."
Everyone else who wanted to return to the village got on the ox cart, including Gu Ranzhou and Lu Zhenchuan.
The two men didn't speak on the way, but they were chatting with the people sitting on the same ox cart with them.
Gu Ranzhou and Lu Zhenchuan had nothing to do, so they spent their time listening to their gossip.
When the ox cart arrived not far from the village, Lu Zhenchuan and Gu Ranzhou got off. After all, it was not the village's ox cart, so it was impossible for it to reach the village entrance. Although there was still some distance, it was okay.
Lu Zhenchuan carried the sacks and Gu Ranzhou carried the things back to the village. When they arrived home, they saw Liu Laogen had already arrived at his door with a convoy.
Liu Laogen saw that both Gu Ranzhou nodded.
Gu Ranzhou walked to the front first, opened the door, and led them into the yard.
"Thank you for your help." Gu Ranzhou saw that it was still very hot even though it was already afternoon, so he quickly poured a bowl of sour plum soup for everyone in the team to cool down.
Everyone was honest and took a break after drinking the sour plum soup. They helped unload the tiles and bricks and placed them in a corner of the yard. After Gu Ranzhou finished cleaning up, he paid everyone for their work.
"Hey young man, we'll go back after we're done." One of them dusted off the dust on his body.
"Uncle, do you still remember the way? How about I take you to the village entrance?" Gu Ranzhou didn't say anything, just asked politely.
"No, no, I'll remember it after I walk through it once. It's not like I haven't been here before."
"Uncle Xing, please drive slowly."
"Xiao Zhou, I'm leaving too." Seeing that the matter was almost resolved, Liu Laogen also drove the ox cart and prepared to leave.
"Brother Liu, this is some candy I bought in town. Take it back and give it to the children." Gu Ranzhou opened the sack, grabbed a handful of candy, wrapped it in paper, and placed it directly on the ox cart.
Don't underestimate this as it's just a handful of candy. In that era, sugar was a rare commodity. Bringing it to visit relatives would definitely make you look good, and it was just the right gift of thanks.
"No, no, how can this be possible?" Liu Laogen was about to refuse.
"Take it. This time it's all thanks to Brother Liu, this time it's all thanks to you." Gu Ranzhou said before Liu Laogen could refuse.
"How can I feel embarrassed?" Liu Laogen couldn't refuse any longer, so he accepted it and drove away in the ox cart.
"Do you need my help?" Lu Zhenchuan and Gu Ranzhou saw that the problem had been solved.
"No need for you to get your things ready first. I have to go somewhere else." Gu Ranzhou was a little surprised but continued, "My son will be back soon. If he sees that I'm not here, just tell him that I went out." Gu Ranzhou walked out.
