Chapter 106 The Secret in the Dagger

When they returned to the camp, everyone came to greet him, and Xu Jianguo responded with a smile.

"Jianguo, are you back? Come and have dinner!" Old Master Zhang shouted.

"Hey, here I come!" Xu Jianguo agreed and walked over quickly.

"How is it? What did you find?" asked the old man.

Xu Jianguo spread his hands and said with a wry smile, "There are a lot of herbs, but I didn't see any valuable ones."

"Hahaha, that's normal. Good medicinal herbs are not that easy to find." Grandpa Zhang said with a smile.

"Grandpa, can we get home tomorrow?" Xu Jianguo asked.

"It's hard to say. If we don't find anything tomorrow, it's possible, but if we come across something good on the way, we can't give it up, right? If we delay, we won't be sure." said the old man.

Xu Jianguo thought what he said made sense, nodded and said, "Hey, whatever you decide, I support it!"

"You little bastard, are you trying to flatter me? Are you missing home?" the old man scolded with a smile.

"Well, a little bit! I adopted a little girl as my sister before. This is the first time we have been separated for such a long time. It has been almost a month since we were apart. I am indeed a little worried about her." Xu Jianguo told the truth.

"I heard about this from the president. You are a good kid! Don't worry, we will be able to go back in two days at most!" said the old man.

"Okay!" Xu Jianguo said with a smile, continuing to chew the steamed bun in his hand.

After finishing his meal, Xu Jianguo picked up his backpack and found a big pine tree. He then dug a deep pit about half a meter deep with pine needles and soil under the tree. Then he came to the fire and used branches to pick out several stones that had been placed there to heat them in advance. He slowly put them into the pit under the pine tree, and then covered them with a thick layer of soil and pine needles. Finally, he lay down in the pit with his clothes on, and covered himself with the remaining pine needles. After a while, the heat emitted by the stones made the entire pit warm up.

Just when everyone was about to go to sleep, the howling of wolves suddenly sounded around the camp, followed by pairs of green eyes in the darkness. This sudden scene caused the hunting dogs in the camp to bark non-stop, and instantly woke everyone up. Everyone looked at Grandpa Zhang and Xu Jianguo at the same time.
