When he pushed open the door of the ward, Wen Sitian was sitting beside the bed telling a story to Funniu. The IV drip that was originally hanging on the shelf had been taken away. Xu Jianguo looked at the tape on the back of Funniu's hand and felt a slight pain in his heart.
Wen Sitian turned around when she heard the voice and saw Xu Jianguo standing at the door. She quickly stood up and greeted him, asking, "You're back. Did everything go well?"
"It went smoothly. Have you had lunch? Why did Funiu change her bed?" Xu Jianguo asked.
"Funiu is fine, she just wet the bed not long after you left. I changed her pants, washed the sheets, and the mattress is hanging downstairs to dry." Wen Sitian said.
Xu Jianguo nodded and said, "Thank you for your hard work!"
Wen Sitian slapped him in anger, pouted her lips and said, "If you keep talking like that, I'll be angry!"
"Okay, okay, I won't say anymore, I won't say anymore!" Xu Jianguo hugged Wen Sitian and said with a smile.
"By the way, have you eaten?" Wen Sitian said.
Xu Jianguo let go of Wen Sitian, smiled and shook his head.
"I left some food for you, come and eat!" Wen Sitian pulled Xu Jianguo to sit on the chair, then took the lunch box and chopsticks and put them in his hands.
Xu Jianguo felt warm in his heart and said with a smile, "Thank you, wife!"
Wen Sitian poured a glass of water for Xu Jianguo. After hearing what he said, she turned around and rolled her eyes at him.
Xu Jianguo chuckled, lowered his head and started eating with big mouthfuls.
After Xu Jianguo finished eating, Wen Sitian handed him the cup of water, then took the lunch box and chopsticks to the water room.
Xu Jianguo took a sip of water, then came to Funiu and said, "Funiu, hold on a little longer. I've found a way to save you. You'll be better in a while. By then, I'll make delicious food for you every day, okay?"
Funiu's eyes rolled around under her eyelids, tears streaming down the corners of her eyes. Xu Jianguo reached out to wipe her tears away, his nose a little sore, and continued, "Don't cry, Funiu, you'll be fine after a while. Xiaohei is still waiting to play with you."
Wen Sitian walked in from outside and saw Xu Jianguo talking to Funiu, and couldn't help but sigh.
Seeing Wen Sitian coming back, Xu Jianguo stood up and said, "I'll go down and bring the mattress up. I'll go back to the army later to take care of some things."
Wen Sitian nodded and said, "Okay, go ahead!"
Xu Jianguo brought back the warm mattress, said hello to Wen Sitian, and left.
After walking for nearly forty minutes, Xu Jianguo arrived at the gate of the Binhai Base.
The sentry saw a young major approaching, raised his hand to salute, and then asked, "Hello, Comrade Major, who are you looking for?"
After returning the greeting, Xu Jianguo took out his officer ID and letter of introduction and handed them to the sentry, saying, "Hello, I'm from our base. I've been on a mission outside recently and just got back!"
The sentry was immediately enthusiastic when he saw that Xu Jianguo's unit was indeed his own. He smiled and said, "Please wait a moment. I need to verify your identity."
"good!"
The sentry turned around and handed Xu Jianguo's ID and letter of introduction to another soldier in the booth behind him. After giving a few instructions, he continued to stand guard.
A moment later, the door of the sentry box was pushed open from the inside, and a soldier came out with Xu Jianguo's ID and letter of introduction.
"Major Xu, there is no problem with your identity. Here are your ID and letter of introduction. Please keep them safe!" said the soldier.
"Okay, thank you!" After Xu Jianguo packed up his things, he was about to leave, but was stopped by the soldier.
"Major Xu, when I was verifying your identity just now, Commander Ma from our base knew you were here and wanted to see you, so he asked me to take you there."
"It just so happens that I also have something to report to the commander. Could you please lead the way?"
"good!"
Xu Jianguo followed the soldiers into the base gate and walked towards the headquarters.
The Binhai Base gave Xu Jianguo a completely different feeling from the Montenegro Base. The feeling here was better, not as depressing as the Montenegro Base. Coupled with the bright spring sunshine and the light sea breeze in the air, he felt a lot more relaxed.
Soon, the two men arrived at the door of an office in the Binhai Base Command. A young soldier was guarding there. After the soldier who led Xu Jianguo stepped forward and explained his purpose, the soldier went into the office to report.
A moment later, the office door was opened from the inside, and a tall old man walked out. He came to Xu Jianguo with a big laugh and said, "Xu Jianguo, Xu Jianguo, you're finally here!"
Xu Jianguo stood at attention and saluted, then said loudly, "Commander, Xu Jianguo is here to report!"
Ma Guoliang returned the salute and said, "You're standing at attention well. Let's go inside and talk!"
"yes!"
The two men entered the office first, followed closely by the guard, who poured water for them and then turned and left.
"Jianguo, how is Old Man Wu doing?" Ma Guoliang asked with a smile. After asking, he narrowed his eyes and stared at Xu Jianguo.
Xu Jianguo knew what he was asking, but didn't answer directly. Instead, he asked, "Commander, if I tell you, will it be considered a violation of confidentiality regulations?"
When Ma Guoliang heard what Xu Jianguo said, he burst into laughter and said, "Good boy, no wonder Wu Dajiang said you were born to be a soldier. Not bad, really good!"
"Commander, you are too kind!" Xu Jianguo said.
"By the way, have you been to the hospital? Have you met Dean Gong?"
