The next morning, Xu Jianguo woke up from his sleep, got up, dressed, tucked in the quilt for Wen Sitian, and then ran to the yard to exercise.
After doing a set of boxing and dozens of pull-ups on the horizontal bar, Xu Jianguo ended his exercise only when he felt his body getting warm.
After going to the bathroom to solve the detoxification problem and washing up simply, Xu Jianguo returned to the living room, picked up his chopsticks and started eating breakfast.
"Du Yu, your wife's due date is approaching. Please pay more attention to her when you are at home during the day. If there are any problems, you and Uncle Fu should deal with them immediately. One of you will go to the hospital, and the other will notify me!" Xu Jianguo said to Du Yu who was standing beside him while eating breakfast.
"Okay, young master!" Du Yu nodded in agreement.
After breakfast, Xu Jianguo put on his military uniform, carried his backpack and entered the space.
It was not yet 7:30 in the morning when he appeared behind the small workshop.
He opened the padlock and walked into the house, took out the low-light night vision goggles parts that he had stored in the space last night, and then walked towards the inner room.
It was seven fifty in the morning when Li Delong and others walked in from outside.
"Mr. Xu, good morning!" Everyone greeted him, and Xu Jianguo responded with a smile.
"Today's work is mainly to assemble the low-light night vision goggles parts we made a few days ago. Once the night vision goggles are completed, this work can come to a temporary end." Xu Jianguo said.
"Okay!" Everyone agreed with a smile on their faces.
As time passed, it soon came to noon. When the lunch bell rang outside, Xu Jianguo had just finished installing the last part.
The seven people stared at the two finished products of low-light night vision goggles on the operating table, then looked at each other and the other people around them, and couldn't help but smile brightly.
Gradually, the whole small workshop was filled with everyone's happy laughter.
"Okay, our work ends here for now. I haven't thought about the next R&D project yet. I'll tell you when I have an inspiration!" Xu Jianguo said.
"Um, Mr. Xu, I want to ask a question!" Li Delong raised his hand and said.
"Ask!" Xu Jianguo said. In fact, he could probably guess what Li Delong wanted to ask, but he didn't say it.
"That's right, now that this project is over, are the six of us going back to our original positions?" Li Delong asked the question in his mind with some trepidation.
As soon as he finished speaking, the other five people who had smiles on their faces suddenly froze and turned to look at Xu Jianguo with a look of worry in their eyes.
Xu Jianguo looked at the expressions on the six people's faces and said with a smile, "What are you thinking? As long as I don't leave and you don't make any mistakes, we won't be separated in this life!"
When the six people heard Xu Jianguo's words, the uneasiness in their hearts immediately disappeared, and bright smiles appeared on their faces again. Liu Yong was so moved that his eyes turned red, which made Xu Jianguo laugh and cry.
"Alright, alright, hurry up and eat. My daughter is about to start school, and I have to go to the school to get her textbooks. If anyone wants to see me, just tell them the truth." Xu Jianguo said, and then he gave another instruction: "Don't all go to get food, leave two people here to watch over the things!"
"Okay, Mr. Xu, don't worry, we are here!" Li Delong said.
Xu Jianguo returned to the inner room, picked up the shoulder bag from the clothes hanger and put it on his back, then left the small workshop and walked towards the Binhai Base Children's Primary School.
The primary school is located to the east of the 523 Institute and to the north of the family quarters, and the three points form a triangle.
It took Xu Jianguo more than 20 minutes to arrive at the Zidisi Primary School. Since the school had not started yet, the school's big iron gate was closed.
Xu Jianguo came to the communication room and knocked on the glass window. After a while, the glass window was opened from the inside, and an old man who looked to be in his sixties or seventies asked, "Kid, who are you looking for?"
Seeing the old man wearing an old military uniform that had been washed to a pale color, Xu Jianguo raised his hand to salute and said, "Hello, squad leader. My child will start school in March, and I'm here today to pick up the textbooks."
The old man looked at Xu Jianguo, his originally serious expression revealing a kind smile. He straightened his body, returned a military salute, and said, "Little guy, not bad, you are already a lieutenant colonel at such a young age!"
Xu Jianguo grinned but didn't say anything.
Seeing Xu Jianguo didn't speak, the old man didn't show any dissatisfaction, and said with a smile: "Wait a minute, I'll open the door for you!"
With a sound of metallic friction, a small door on the big iron gate was opened from the inside, revealing the figure of the old man.
"Come in!" said the old man.
"Yes!" Xu Jianguo agreed and walked in.
"Go to the fifth room on the first floor of the teaching building!" The old man patted Xu Jianguo on the shoulder and said.
"Okay, thank you, old squad leader!" After Xu Jianguo thanked him, he walked in the direction the old man pointed.
When he arrived at the office, there was only a middle-aged man in his forties inside. After Xu Jianguo explained his purpose and showed him the receipt issued by the logistics department, he successfully received the first-grade primary school textbooks.
Xu Jianguo looked at the textbook in his hand, a smile appeared on his lips, and he asked, "Teacher, I want to ask, does our school have the concept of skipping grades?"
"Yes, what's wrong?" said the middle-aged man.
"It's okay. I think my daughter's level may not require her to go to first grade, so I wanted to ask." Xu Jianguo said.
